'A tier 2 spell huh' I couldn't help but smirk. 'How convenient'
The wasp released its attack. Its stinger immediately launched forward. Shooting like a dart. It had green sinister poison surrounding it as it moved with bluring speed. Cutting through the air. Under normal circumstances I would have rather moved out of the way but not this time.
My pupils dilated, my breathing slowed. My heart pounded fiercely against my rib cage causing the pain from by bruises to act up but I still stood firm. The wasp's stinger attack was only a meter away and it was coming in fast. Its aim, to pierce my head.
Like I'd let that happen.
[Break]
I thought as I threw out a fist while simultaneously activating my skill. I directly depleted 10 of my mana points. And I could immediately see through the attack. Its structure, its mana composition and most importantly, its weakness and breaking points.
"Aaah!" a shout escaped my lips as my fist shot forward
Fist met stinger head to head.
Bang!
Lydia's face paled as she looked away. A cloud of smoke shrouded the room. The wasp and Lydia watched on in anticipation as the smoke slowly dissipated. Slowly but surely the smoke cleared and in its place I stood tall with a wild grin on my face. There were no injuries whatsoever apart from the ones I already had before. Well…my fist did feel slightly numb but that was all.
Badump! My heart hurt as my body felt on fire.
[User has been poisoned]
'Damnit' it seems that I inhaled the poison from the smoke. And the poison felt like it was burning through my veins.
…
The wasp also seemed to tremble in shock but it screeched before charging its attack once again.
This time it shot out three successive stingers.
"Shit" I cursed. I could handle one just fine but handling three at the same time while simultaneously also fighting against a poison? Yeah definitely not.
I dived out of the way. Taking cover behind and overturned bed.
…
At this point Lydia snapped out of her daze before she pointed her finger at the wasp's back. She circulated her mana at her finger tips. And she performed the most basic tier 1 spell known to man…or at least some of it.
[Mana bullet]
A small bullet shaped attack hit the wasp from behind the mana bullet merely managed to scratch its skin. The wasp immediately turned to face her. Its bloodlust increasing when it sense the amount of power Lydia's soul emitted. It wasn't as strong as the one it sensed from the annoying human boy but it would be enough to increase its strength just enough. So it refocused its attacks.
Its stinger lighting up as it used up its mana once more.
Lydia seeing this paled and before she could even move the stinger had already through her right shoulder before exiting through the other side. In its wake leaving a bloody hole.
At first Lydia didn't feel anything from it. But gradually the wound felt numb before she felt and itch. A few more seconds and the itch intensified to the point that it burned.
"Argh" a pained moan escaped her delicate lips as the pain increased tenfold. Her body felt like it was burning from the inside out. The poison running through her veins was a lot more potent than it seemed.
'I have to burn the poison out with my mana' she came to the conclusion but the wasp already before her. but to do that she would need to focus and concentrate on nothing else other than the poison in her system, which she absolutely didn't have the time for at the moment.
The wasp moved with the same speed as it warped forward leaving afterimages behind. In the next instant in had appeared right before her.
Lydia felt her heart seize. Was she really going to die like this? She hadn't had time to react at all when she heard a metallic crash and before she knew it the wasp was blasted away.
In its place stood Huey who retracted his extended arm which held a majorly deformed metal tray…if you could still call it that anyway. And a wooden stake in the other hand.
At this moment Huey's eyes held the valor of a warrior fighting to protect what he deemed precious. His entire demeanor was different from his usual playful self as he stared intently at the wasp that was regaining its bearings. Never in her imagination did Lydia ever think that someone standing over her while wielding a metal tray would ever register as heroic in her eyes but it was exactly that.
Heroic
…
Completely oblivious to Lydia's thoughts. I continued to look forward.
Deformed metal tray in one hand and a wooden stake in the other. Right now I knew that the tray was on its last legs but that dint matter too much.
I charged forward with all the agility I could summon. My leg muscles tensed and pumped, releasing massive gusts of energy as I pushed myself to the edge. My body at this point felt extremely light but I disregarded this feeling as I appeared before the wasp's body.
It had smashed into the wall and it still seemed to be disoriented but I didn't give it time to collect itself. I wacked the tray at the top of its head with as much force as I could muster.
A loud bang resonated within the small infirmary. But I didn't stop there.
I continued to slam the tray on top of its head again and again. The wasp didn't even have time to think straight. With each blow, it bled green blood from its head and with each blow it felt like it was dying.
Badum!
My heart hurt once again as the poison's effect in my system worsened catching me completely off-guard. My body froze while I prepared to strike once again. It was only a single moment but it was enough to give the wasp time to retaliate in a desperate attempt to escape.
It struck out with its stinger. It all happened too fast. Before I knew it, the stinger was plunged deep in my abdomen. And then it pumped its poison directly into my system.
[The poison's potency has increased my 70%]
The shock from the pain was unbearable and the poison just made it all the more worse. Under normal circumstances, this pain would have rendered me unconscious but I bit into my lip causing it to bleed. At this point I was going through many possible actions to get me out of this predicament.
[Healthà 10/30]
[Healthà 8/30]
'What do I do?' I panicked. I didn't know this system well but I did know that health was directly related to my life so if my health dropped to zero then it only meant one thing.
Death
At this point memories flashed into my mind. My best friend Jordan, Billy, all the fun times we had together and most importantly, my mother. What would she be doing right now? Was she safe? Was her situation any better than mine or was it in fact worse?
These thoughts ignited a bright flame of determination within me
'No I won't like this' I thought to myself as I forced my other hand to stab the wasp with my wooden stake (PS: this was the piece of wood I used to stab ravid Billy)
Its pointed end found the flesh that separated the head of the wasp from its body. The wooden stake managed to penetrate 2 inches before it was stopped by hard flesh. I pushed and pushed but the stake moved less than an inch.
My muscles ached and I could already feel my body weakening.
'Damnit if only I had a little more strength…' I thought. '…wait that's it'
Without further delay I used up my free stat points
[+2 stats have been added to Strength]
At this point I felt my arms blaze with energy and I pushed to the fullest of my capacity. The change may have seemed small but it was the a boost nonetheless that was enough to push the stake 3 inches deeper.
"Die you stupid bug!" I screamed as the entire wooden stake plunged deeply, completely impaling it.
The wasp only struggled for a moment before its body went limp. Its stinger lost its strength as its body fell to the ground. At this point I didn't have any strength left and I directly fell on my back all the tension from the battle that almost cost my life slowly decipating.

As the messages continued to flash across my retina. I couldn't help but feel satisfied.
I sighed in relief as I felt a warm sensation wash over my body. My physical fatigue was gone. The wound on my abdomen where the wasp had pierced me stopped bleeding and now oddly felt itchy and uncomfortable but it didn't feel like a bad thing.
"Argh" I sat up with a groan. I knew I could stand but I didn't want to do that immediately instead I turned around slowly for fear of making my injury any worse.
When I turned around though I found Lydia seated in a lotus pose. Her eyes were closed but by the fact that her eyebrows continuously twitched and she was sweating, I could tell she was doing something extremely important.
As I focused on her I also notices the surrounding mana swirl towards her. Of course it was a small amount of mana but I could tell that she was absorbing it into her body. I placed this note in the back of my head and turned to look at the wasp's corpse once more and I noticed something right beside it.
I stepped forward and upon closer inspection I discovered it was some kind of scroll.
"What is this?" I wondered out loud as I picked it up.
A second later a notification flashed in my eyes. And what I read shocked me to the core.
