Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: Learning a skill

['Super soldier' passive skill scroll- Once learned it gives the user all the accumulated combat techniques known throughout the history of the planet as well as experience]

When I read this I didn't know what to think. Was this like the loot dropped by monsters in video games? I honestly didn't know.

What I did know though was that this skill would directly eliminate any if not all my troubles that concerned having any fighting experience.

Without any hesitation

'Learn' I commanded in my head.

The skill scroll disappeared with a flash and instantly my mind was overwhelmed with information and knowledge. All the techniques that would take a normal soldier months maybe even years to learn and master were ingrained within me in less than a minute.

I took a look at my hand and it felt extremely different. At this point I had realized just how much of a weapon my body could be.

I turned back to look at Lydia who was still meditating and I took the time to sit down and take a look at my stats

My stats had taken a tremendous boost from this encounter. In fact I believed that this was much more worth it as well. The level 7 wasp being defeated was a matter of luck as well. First of all the wasp had underestimated me, secondly it lacked the mobility it would usually have in a wide open field and thirdly I was lucky that Lydia had been there to distract the mutated black wasp or else I would probably be dead by now.

Well…I did still technically almost die but at least I put up a fight. I was just glad that my health was restoring itself.

I smiled this was truly satisfying. The feeling of growing stronger was intoxicating to say the least.

With that in mind I proceeded to take off my now ragged shirt as I inspected the wound from the stinger. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was. Maybe a centimeter or so deep but at least the bleeding stopped. For now though I decided to close my eyes and imitate Lydia. With my legs crossed I sat upright as I took a meditative stance.

I instinctively took deep breaths and as a consequence my mind entered a meditative state. My mind immediately cleared up all my thoughts. In this state that I was in, I was able to focus fully on the mana that was stored within my body. It felt warm and free flowing, peaceful and harmonic. It was a comfortable feeling, like it was always a part of me.

While I was intoxicated by this feeling I felt the damage that was still being caused the poison from the wasp. Though it had slowed, it had still caused immense damage to my internal organs and it still seemed intent on doing its work.

I focused on circulating my mana through my blood hoping that it would be able to expel the poison. Beads of sweat dripped from my forehead as I willed massive torrents of mana to flow. The mana clashed with the poison but it was unable to destroy the poison so instead it was carried away together with the mana and it circulated around the whole body latching onto whatever cells it came in contact with.

At this point it felt like a thousand ants were crawling along my skin but I didn't relent, I pushed forward and as the poison and mana circled around my body. The cells began to adapt to it gradually becoming used to it.

This continued for about 2 hours at this point my health stat had returned completely and the wound on my abdomen had closed off completely.

[Congratulations you have gained the passive skill 'Poison resistance{Level 5-Uncommon}]

[The user's health is back to max mana core formation will now begin]

Before I could react I felt my body tense up without any warning. A large pool of mana flowed within me and my skinned burned as the large excess mana flowed around my body. Cleansing and carrying along all of the impurities present.

At this point Lydia's eyes snapped open when she felt the large fluctuations of mana. She was alarmed at first and thought that maybe another beast had come after them but when she realized that wasn't it she calmed down once more before her breath hitched.

'Just how many time are you going to surprised me!' she screamed internally as she looked at Huey who had sat in a lotus position.

These energy fluctuations only meant one thing.

Someone was making a mana core successfully!

Lydia knew that at this current time it was only the major families that knew how to do that but right before her eyes, Huey was forming his very own!

Before I knew it my skin tensed once again and I was flooded with pain. Black gooey substance escaped through the pores of my body, nose and ears. I felt some dissatisfying liquid clog my throat and before I knew it I coughed it out.

Mana continued to flow within me before it finally moved on to my heart.

It all concentrated to the center of my heart where it formed a large golf ball sized spherical core that had a variety of colors contained within it. It gave of a magnificent aura as the colors seemed to swim within it. This was my newly formed mana core.

When this was done a small star shaped crystal formed and it seemed to orbit the spherical object.

[Mana core formed successfully]

[Your magic talent has increased]

[Magic à150]

By the time the notifications appeared I was panting like a suffocated duck. My brown eyes shimmered as they opened themselves to the world.

I decided to see if there were any changes to my body

My magic stat which I presumed meant my talent in the field had risen up from 91 to 150. It would seem as though I am extremely talented when it comes to magic. The only problem was that I didn't know any magic and the only thing I had was a single anti-magic spell.

A sigh escaped my lips. 'I seriously need to find out more about this anti-magic biz'

I took in a breath and my nose was instantly assaulted by a sickening smell.

"Blergh…what is that smell?" I brought my hand to my nose but the smell only grew stronger. "Ow! I smell like shit…no I smell worse!"

"You got that right" I heard a familiar voice in front me.

I smiled bitterly when I heard Lydia say this. She seemed fine at least, her shoulder had stopped bleeding but that didn't change the fact that I could see through the bloody hole in her shoulder which showed just how much danger the black wasp had posed. Another thought couldn't help but form in my head.

Had I not moved in time, I would have certainly lost a new friend of mine. My teeth clenched at this thought. I had already lost one friend, I didn't want to lose another.

"Are you okay?" I asked with a look of concern.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that question? I mean you were the one that took on a peak 1st star realm beast.

I only shook my head. "I was just lucky. Come on lets cover up your wound first" I suggested. I approached the broken desk where there were medicines lying around. I searched through the ruble and was able to find the first aid box still in one piece. Feeling slightly proud I waved it at her.

Lydia only gave me a slight smile.

A few minutes later I was circling a bandage around her wound. Silence surrounded us but it wasn't the awkward kind of silence, it was the comforting kind.

After I was done treating her I helped her stand up. "You said Jordan was in class right?"

"Yeah"

"Then we know where to go first then" the barely fell out of my mouth before a screamed reverberated from the corridors.

"That voice…" Lydia muttered. It seems I wasn't the only one who recognized it.

It was Ms. Camille.
