Chapter 23 - CH 23 - Moving the settlement

So, we took the four newbies with us to hunt there first ghoul. We found a group of around 30-40 ghouls. I asked Brook to reduce the numbers, since she was eager to try her new class and with her penetrating arrows she was able to clear 3-6 ghouls per shot depending how they lined up. Pretty much in no time there was only 4 ghouls left and they were heading towards our group.

I ran and started kicking them apart so they don't gang up on one person and when I was able spread them apart enough, I signaled the newbies to go at it.

The two boys just ran in with random pipes and started quickly whacking ghouls over the head. The slightly overweight girl ran in with something that looked like broom handle and started to do the same.

Jessica on the other hand ran to ghoul and started to stab it with kitchen knife in each hand.

Without any issues all four of them were able to kill their first ghouls. After that we retreated to building that was in a decent shape and I asked.

"Tell me what you got please. You can skip noncombat skills like cooking.""

All four of them nodded and started to speak.

The two guys spoke first. "Great-sword fighting skill." "Sword and board fighting skill."

I nodded. And turned to the other two.

"I have spear fighting skill." Slightly overweight girl spoke.

After that I looked on Jessica that was smiling from ear to ear.

"What did you get Jessica?"

"Let me show you." She spoke. After that she snapped her fingers and spoke. "Come to me!"

In front of her something that looked like blue magic circle appeared on the ground. In no time a figure started to materialize from the circle, within a few second a figure made purely of water was standing there.

It was transparent and had no legs. It was made out of water in its entirety, it had two massive hands and a head. Rest of the creature's body looked like miss-shaped water cylinder.

"I can summon water elemental. From what I can see it is not like your tiger, it's just temporary. It consumes my mana slowly when it is out."

She spoke as she dismissed the elemental. The moment she dismissed the spell the water just spilled all around the place where the creature stood. It looked like the thing that was holding the water together let go of it and it splashed all over the place.

"Fine let me check if I can get you some basic gear. Wait here I will be back in no time."

I ran out of the room to a room a little further from them and quickly pulled some basic blue gear from blue chests. Everybody got a weapon outside of Jessica she got the staff and necklace. Same one Karla has been using for a while.

Everybody thanked me very politely and we went to train some more. We were making sure that the newbies are safe and newbies were killing ghouls and zombies everywhere we were able to find some.

Like this we spent the rest of the day, we only interfered if there was ghoul with class or huge group of ghouls. Outside of that we let the newbies go nuts.

Once the evening came, we returned to the cafeteria, all the newbies reported to the teachers that they are willing to fight from now on. Teachers were very happy that they are going to have more hands for protection and resource gathering.

They tried to motivate people to fight by giving the people that fight more food, but it had very little impact on the scarred students that were slowly waking up to reality that there is no army coming to save them.

Once this was done, we retreated to our room together with Jessica. She asked if she could join us for dinner. We ate and had a nice chat. After that Jessica left and we again practiced our nightly activities deep into the night.

As the sunrise came, we were ready to help escort the students to the soccer stadium. It was not too far and we were hunting on that path with newbies the day before so we hoped that there won't be any huge surprises.

Me Karla and Sheela were going at the front. Brook and the newbies we trained yesterday, Jessica included were at the back and rest of fighters were on the sides of the transport.

It looked like they grabbed everything that could be useful and were even making stops on the way to gather even more resources. Pretty much everybody who was not fighting was carrying huge bag filled with supplies to the brim.

It was after we stopped next to grocery store and teachers sent a group of non-combatants to raid it after they made sure it's safe.

As the non-combatants exited the store with packs filled with food a basic hygienic aids like toilet paper, we heard a loud noise.

"Bang!" And right after that we heard a loud deep screech. "Hrrrrrrrrrrrg."

It was not coming from the direction we were heading to but from the side. Teachers quickly signaled to everybody to pick the pace and get to the stadium before we will meet the thing making those noises.

Students didn't need much talking to and started to walk in a quick pace towards stadium. Visibly not interested in meeting the creature making the noise.

After some time as we were trying to get everybody to safety, we heard another loud. "Bang!" With the screech following it but this time it was much closer.

Now everybody upgraded the quick paced walk to a trot without a single word. Fear could be seen on the faces of students and teachers.

It took few minutes for the next loud "Bang!"  to appear again but this time it was much closer and was followed by huge amount of dust being raised in the near vicinity to us. This was when I spoke.

"Karla, Sheela, Brook. We will fight that thing, whatever it is, Rest of you go. Stadium is not so far away from here, get in there as soon as possible,"
