A ray of sunshine shined through a window and landed on Roenaldo's' face as the morning arrived. Feeling energized for what the day would bring, Roenaldo happily bounced out of his bed, heading to his bathroom to freshen up. He stripped off his clothes and took an extremely quick shower, as he did not want to waste a second getting prepared. After all, he figured, he was going to get dirty playing Turf War, so there was no need to get thorough with cleaning himself. With that out of the way, Roenaldo fixed his ink tank to his back and marched out of his apartment room to Inkopolis Plaza.
Today, his goal was to earn the right to wield a Splat Roller and subsequently master using the weapon. Only then would he be on the track to being on the level of Gustavo. He also figured that he should reach at least level 5 so that he would be allowed to purchase items from the clothing shops. With that ambition fueling his every step, Roenaldo entered the Lobby, where he proceeded to queue into many Turf War matches. Every battle that he participated in increased his skill and knowledge of the battlefield. Although he experienced some lapses in his judgement regarding what fights he would engage in and the efficiency at which he would ink turf with, every loss was a chance to grow. With his Splattershot Jr, Roenaldo was able to learn more and more about the foundations of combat. Eventually, after a long amount of grinding, Roenaldo headed to the lobby terminal to find that his hard work had paid off. A fanfare played from the computer, signaling that Roenaldo had reached level 5. Roenaldo smiled happily, cheering, "Booyah! Finally, I did the thing! It's time to go on a shopping spree. I can't wait to shove my victory in that dumb clown fish's face." Roenaldo proudly grabbed his earnings and headed to Booyah Base, home of the clothing strip mall.
With a skip in his step, he went inside the doors of Cooler Heads to find Annie hanging a shipment of new hats in their places while Moe swam around in her hair. Moe was the first one to notice Roenaldo's arrival, remarking, "Well, well, well, look who came crawling back. Have you finally shaped up?" Roenaldo smiled confidently, stating, "Indeed I have, Moe. I believe that I've earned a purchase from this store, right?" Annie turned away from her hats to find Roenaldo with his money ready. "O-oh," she stammered, "You're back? I can see that you've grown fresher than last time, so I-I guess that I can properly w-welcome you to my shop. T-this is Cooler Heads, where you can, um, buy some hats, and stuff. F-feel free to take a look around, and stuff…" Roenaldo browsed the array of headgear, finding such items as baseball caps, woolen caps, and sophisticated-looking glasses. He decided on a green baseball cap labeled as the backwards cap. "Um," Annie said, "W-will you be taking that one, sir? If so, that'll be 700 c-coins." Roenaldo handed over the necessary amount and tried on his new item, looking in the mirror to admire his new look. As he was leaving, Annie said, "T-thank you for s-shopping with us, sir! You can come back here, if you're i-into that sort of thing, I mean…" Moe interjected, yelling, "YOU BETTER GIVE US MORE MONEY NEXT TIME, SQUID!" Roenaldo brushed off the clown fish's remark, heading towards his next stop: Jelly Fresh.
He walked inside the sliding doors to find a blue jellyfish that was wearing a white cap and a black and blue T-Shirt. "Gree to the tings, squid," it burbled, "Welcoming to the Jelly Fresh! Jelonzo be I! Thanking for your visit." Roenaldo gave the jellyfish a strange look, thinking, "Where did this person learn his Inklish, a pub?" The cnidarian continued, "I am possessing much shirts to lay on your body! Buy them to be filled with the confidence. Please to the shopping! Intrigued by the jellyfish's' weird language pattern, Roenaldo nevertheless "went to the shopping" and searched the stores' stock. He decided that a yellow piece of clothing would suit his tastes, so he picked out a long-sleeved shirt of that color called the Yellow Layered LS. Jelonzo peered from across the room, asking, "You want buying? 500 coins I needing from your money bag." Roenaldo granted Jelonzo the required amount, adding, "Thanking for allowing I to buying these shirt. Me think it will looking good." Jelonzo looked at Roenaldo with a confused face, saying, "You are not speaking Inklish well. Jelonzo is thinking that you must take classes, yes? Kidding! Jelonzo knows that you be kidding. It is fine. Me hope that you arrive again, customer!" Happy that he did not greatly offend Jelonzo with his little jab, Roenaldo traversed to the next shop.
Arriving at a shop called Shrimp Kicks, Roenaldo walked inside the clear, mechanical doors to find a tiger shrimp that appeared to be deep fried. On each of his 10 feet he was wearing a different pair of shoes. He was sitting on a chair eating a toasted algae sandwich before he greeted Roenaldo with a "What's kraken, squiddo?! You sure are a new face around here. The name's Crusty Sean, the shoe fanatic! Feel free to peep out the kicks in this store, I have plenty!" Roenaldo did just that, taking his time to judge the quality of each type of footwear. From the variety of sandals, sneakers and socks, he chose a simple pair of shoes called the Blue Slip-Ons. Crusty Sean looked up from his sandwich, asking, "You feelin, those ones, dawg? It'll cost ya 300 coins." Roenaldo agreed, presenting Sean with the money. "Nice doing business with you, homie," he said, "I just know that you'll be loving those kicks for a looong time. That's not all, though, I'll be having even more shoes coming in, so don't forget to visit!" Before Roenaldo left, he asked, "Hey, Sean, what's with that brown stuff around your body? Did you fall in a vat of grease?" Crusty Sean chuckled, explaining, "Not at all, dog! It's my hip, custom, designer jacket. It looks great, right?" "Ah, I see," said Roenaldo, "Yeah, it looks interesting, for sure. I'll catch you around, then" As Sean waved him goodbye, Roenaldo went to his final stop at Ammo Knights.
Even from outside the dull green artillery store, Roenaldo could spot many types of ink weapons being housed inside. When he walked inside, he noticed a green, horseshoe crab man tinkering with a small, purple gun. He was too engorged in his work to even notice Roenaldo's arrival. With this in mind, Roenaldo took it upon himself to look for a Splat Roller. He was quickly able to locate one that had golden handle holding a burly ink sponge. Roenaldo attempted to carry the object, but was caught off guard by how much it weighed. As a result, it fell to the floor with a thud. This action caught the horseshoe crab's attention, causing him to rush over frantically. "Egad," he exclaimed, "Natasha! What did this heathen do to you?! There, there, it's okay…" Roenaldo was only able to stand there bewildered before the crab pointed dramatically at him, yelling, "You! What are you doing messing with my weapons? My babies will not be corrupted by unclean hands!" Feeling unsettled, Roenaldo stammered, "Uh, I-I just wanted to get myself a Splat Roller. I was in the m-middle of checking that one out." Suddenly, the crab's expression became softer as he said, "Oh, my mistake, my good sir! I didn't realize that you were here to buy a Splat Roller; I sometimes have some Inkling hooligans come in to defile my beauties. I must admit, you have a good eye for Rollers; Natasha, the Gold Dynamo Roller, really packs a whollop! I feel like I, Sheldon, have outdid myself with her." Roenaldo's face brightened as he asked, "Is that true? You're telling me that Natasha is one of the best Rollers? You've got to let me buy her. What's her price?" Sheldon peered at Roenaldo with his extendable glasses, stating, "I am terribly sorry, trooper. I'm afraid that Natasha is too spicy for someone of your caliber. I'll only allow those who are worthy to claim her. That being said, I believe that I can hook you up with a Roller more your speed." Sheldon ran to an array of weapons stacked in a row and retrieved a Roller with a green handle and a medium-sized ink sponge. The Splat Roller represents the Roller class of weapons," he explained, "It's useful for close combat and inking turf. You have two methods of attack: slamming your Roller downward to fling ink at foes or rolling over the ground while running. By the way, did you know that Rollers used to be unofficial weapons that weren't taken seriously, but have now become staples of Inkling battles? Anyway, the Splat Roller comes equipped with Suction Bombs as a sub weapon and the powerful Killer Wail as a special, so this is a great set to learn the Roller ropes. Go ahead and test out the Splat Roller in my firing range out back, I insist!" Convinced by Sheldon's very detailed description, Roenaldo took the Splat Roller and headed through a door in the back of the room.
When he emerged, he was met with a concrete area filled with colorful balloons reminiscent of squids. Roenaldo found a small, clear tube attached to the Splat Roller's ink capsule and connected it to his own ink tank on his back. As he did this, the ink sponge on the Splat Roller began to get moist with yellow ink. Roenaldo then began swinging around the weapon, enjoying how powerful each swing felt. The ink flung with each movement flew towards the balloons, popping them instantly. Within 3 seconds, however, replacements inflated in their place. "Wow," thought Roenaldo, "This Splat Roller really is good. I wonder what the other perks do." Roenaldo searched the Roller and found a small compartment near the base of the sponge. Within it, he pulled out a cylindrical ink bomb with a suction cup at the end of it. As he pulled it out, it became engorged with ink and grew in size to match the height of a pineapple. He threw the bomb suction cup-first into a crowd of balloons, causing it and the balloons to explode in a yellow burst 2 seconds later. Roenaldo submerged into his ink to replenish his ammo before running around the room with his Roller to the ground, inking a wide line wherever he went. As he did this, the ink on the ground started to resonate with Roenaldo's entire being, and he felt a strange power rising from within his stomach. His hair started to glow fiercely bright as his Roller began to shake violently. Feeling curious, Roenaldo shook the Roller, causing it to undergo a strange transformation. All the parts of the weapon became hard as metal and rearranged themselves into a giant, grey megaphone with bike handles extending from its sides, pedals situated near the bottom, and a grey seat placed behind the contraption. Spurred by an unknown power, Roenaldo aimed the megaphone towards a large group of balloons using the pedals balloons before instinctively yelling into a small speaker placed between the handles. This resulted in the megaphone converting Roenaldo's voice into a pulsing ink beam that vaporized all the balloons in it's path. Afterwards, the megaphone began shaking again as it transformed back into a Splat Roller, and Roenaldo's hair returned to normal. "Holy moly," said Roenaldo aloud, "Was that the Killer Wail just now? That was so AWESOME! I guess that in order to use specials like that, I need to cover turf with my ink. I wonder why that's the case…" Not bothering to hurt his brain with the logistics behind this phenomenon, Roenaldo headed back inside Ammo Knights to confirm his purchase.
Roenaldo entered to a patiently-waiting Sheldon, who asked eagerly, "So how did you like the Splat Roller? It really packs a punch, wouldn't you say? I could hear you from inside, and I can tell that you were made for this class, so I suppose that I'll part with this Roller for 1000 coins. Do we have a deal?" Roenaldo happily paid Sheldon the desired amount, reveling in the pleasure of finally getting the weapon of his dreams." Sheldon gave a militant salute, saying, "Thank you, soldier. I know you'll give your new weapon a good home. Now go, practice your techniques with your Splat Roller, and show the competition who's boss!" Roenaldo returned a salute as a friendly gesture before waving him goodbye.
