Chereads / Reborn as Lucas : TBATE FanFic / Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

"Elijah, I'm telling you, I don't think he'll come," I said, trailing behind as Elijah ran forward, tickets clutched in his hand. Sylvie slept soundly on my head, undisturbed by the commotion.

"Come on, we'll at least try. I already got three tickets," Elijah insisted, his determination unwavering. We soon reached the extravagant mansion.

Elijah approached the guards at the gate, confidence in his step. "We're here to meet Lucas Wykes. We're his friends," he declared.

The guards exchanged skeptical glances. "What are you saying, brat? You're friends with the young master? I don't believe it," one of them scoffed.

Elijah stood his ground. "We are telling you, we're his friends. You can ask him."The guards laughed, dismissing us. "I don't think they are. It would be better for you brats to go away."

"What's so funny?" A voice came from behind the guards, dripping with authority and a hint of bloodlust. Lucas emerged, wearing a white shirt with gold embroidery and beige pants, looking relaxed but commanding respect. The guards froze, instantly apologetic. "Sorry, young master. We didn't know, you were there we wouldn't have dared laughed in your presence."

"Yeah,Yeah, okay. Open the gate," Lucas ordered, and the guards scrambled to comply.

"What's up, bitches?" Lucas greeted us with a grin, pulling us into a simultaneous hug. We returned the hug, relieved.

"We're fine. What about you?" I asked as Lucas ruffled Elijah's hair.

He laughed. "Come in, let's have some drinks."

Elijah shook his head. "Not today. We're here to get you."

Lucas's face turned serious. "What, you guys got into a fight? Just tell me the name."

Elijah waved his hands, denying it. "No, no. We're here to take you with us," he said, pulling out the tickets.

Lucas's face brightened. "Let's go then."He whistled, and within seconds, a lizard came crawling up to him, settling on his shoulder.

"So that's it?" I questioned Lucas.

"Aren't you going to take permission or something?" I asked, confused at how easily he was convinced.

"Nah, who needs permission? Your boy can go wherever he wants," Lucas replied, grinning.

Elijah laughed. "Arthur here was saying they wouldn't let you out."

"Who's there to stop me? Let's go." Lucas patted Elijah on the shoulder.

"Yeah, wait a sec." He turned toward the guards. "Inform Father that I'm going with my friends and also, next time they come, you guys give them respect."The guards nodded, and Lucas turned back to us, starting to walk forward.

As we walked together, I noticed the amount of silver rings on his left hand, each adorned with a black bracelet. There were four, one on each finger except the thumb."Shouldn't I call you a princess now? What's up with the absurd amount of jewelry?" I asked.

Lucas scratched his chin. "Well, when I was an adventurer, I didn't have to change clothes that much, so I kept them in my pocket. But now I need to, so I wear them," he said, smiling.

Elijah, a bit impressed, asked, "What's up with their style? Each one looks like a beast."

"Yeah, they're a set. The person selling them called it a Draco Set. Don't exactly know what he meant, but I bought them. They're nice for storing things," Lucas explained.

"Wait, these are storage rings?" I asked, impressed. He nodded.

Elijah complimented him, "You're a walking warehouse."

We all laughed as we reached our destination. "And that's it," Elijah said.Lucas looked at the building.

"Anyway, what are we doing?" he asked."It's a secret," Elijah replied.

Lucas turned to me. "You know?"

"He didn't even tell me, just said it's something cool and dragged me around," I explained.

Lucas nodded. "Well, let's see, Dawg, what you got for us."We walked into the building, curiosity and anticipation buzzing between us.

"So it's a freaking play," I thought as I sat in the opera, unimpressed by Elijah's choice. I glanced at Arthur, who seemed to share my thoughts, his face resting on his hand in boredom. Elijah, sitting beside me, also looked regretful.

He glanced at me and whispered, "Let's go." He was about to stand when I grabbed him by his black shirt and pulled him back to his seat."Now you'll see it through to the end," I told him as he looked at me with a puppy face.

I looked at Arthur, who was fixing his brown shirt and white pants. Noticing my glance, he spoke to Elijah, smiling but with a not-so-pleasant tone, "We haven't seen Lucas for about two weeks. Why are you talking about leaving? Let's enjoy." Arthur also grabbed him, ensuring he stayed glued to his seat.

After about fifteen minutes of sitting there, we were all physically and mentally exhausted. I glanced at them to see them in a vegetative state, with Ebon watching carefully from Elijah's shoulder and Slyvie sleeping on Arthur's lap.

I shaked both Elijah and Arthur, who looked at me with barely any consciousness left. I gestured for them to move out, and I could see the glow returning to their faces. I stood up, and behind me, they did too, as we made our escape from the deathly dull play.

I stared at the pale blonde boy standing, my heart beating fast as if I were having an attack.

Pain surged through my heart, a hidden agony breaking free after years of suppression. Blood rushed to my face as I watched him aimlessly eating all the components placed before me, trying to savor every taste of him.

My feelings amplified by the soothing voice of the singer, my heart ached with an intensity that felt unbearable. My face flushed with all the blood rushing to my head.

This wasn't right. I didn't understand what was happening to me.I looked at his pale emerald eyes, devoid of any emotion, staring straight ahead.

Even his emotionless eyes couldn't calm the storm in my heart. I could imagine his eyes shining like polished emeralds, but they were dull, like unpolished stones. His hair fell straight on his face, and he didn't even try to move it out of his vision. His eyes...

"Veronica, what are you looking at?" My mother's voice shook me from my thoughts. I turned to see her black hair set neatly in a noble way, her eyes staring at me with a tinge of worry.

I hurriedly shifted my gaze back to the boy, only to be disappointed. He wasn't there anymore. My heart ached, my breath became ragged.

I scanned the opera, hoping to catch another glimpse of him, but the emerald eyes were nowhere to be found. Disappointed, I turned my attention back to the concert.

"Nothing, Mother," I said, my voice tinged with sadness. I wished I could turn back time, even just a little.

"Are you alright, Veronica? Your face is all red," my mother asked, her amethyst eyes filled with concern.

"I'm alright, Mother," I lied, though I was everything but fine."Okay." She turned her attention back to the concert.Feeling the regret, I had developed an intense wish to meet that boy.

"I'm never gonna let you go." "I'm gonna hold you in my arms forever." The singer's voice reached my ears the same thing I was feeling, resonating as if it were a sign from the deities themselves....

"Holy fuck, finally out of that hellhole," I muttered, stepping out of the accursed place with Ebon perched on my shoulder. Arthur and Elijah followed, looking considerably better than before.

Arthur nodded in agreement, "Agreed with your choice of words. It was certainly a hellhole."

I stopped and turned to Elijah. "Elijah, next time try to tell us beforehand, will you?"Arthur nodded in agreement as we started walking again.

"I didn't know it would be that bad. I just bought the tickets randomly," Elijah defended himself.

"Yeah, yeah, okay. Boys, the past is past. Now that we're out of that hellhole, what should we do?" I asked.

"Shouldn't you guys show me the city since you're the locals?"Elijah spoke.

"I don't wander around much," I admitted. "Hey, Arthur, take us to a nice place," I said, looking at him.

Arthur scratched his chin, seemingly drawing a blank. "Don't tell me you also don't know anything," I said, incredulous.

Arthur nodded sheepishly, glancing around. "Seriously?" I sighed.

I scanned the area and spotted a large tree with a nice place to sit beneath it. "Let's think while sitting there," I suggested, pointing to the spot. We walked over and took a seat, ready to figure out our next move.
