Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

"Guys, I think I fell in love," Elijah said, his eyes glued to a girl passing by.

"Nah, check out that one," Lucas replied, pointing to another girl.

Elijah turned to look and sighed, "I fell in love again."

Lucas laughed, slapping his thigh. "What the hell is up with you?"

I looked at both of them with disgust. "Seriously, you two?"

"What is it, Princess? Let the boy enjoy the beauties of the world," Lucas said, still chuckling.

"Any ideas on where we should go, or should we just head home?" I asked, disinterested in their antics.

"Yeah, I got an idea," Lucas said, pulling us into a huddle.

"Let's drink."A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes, and I couldn't help but smile widely, understanding his suggestion.

"What's fun in drinking juices?" Elijah asked, not catching on.Both Lucas and I facepalmed.

"Not juices, Alcohol," I clarified.Elijah looked at us, concerned.

"Wait, aren't we underage?"

"Come on, man, who cares?" Lucas said, patting him on the back.

"Where are we gonna do it?" I asked, looking at Lucas.

Lucas rubbed his chin, thinking. "Let's find some drinks."

"It looks like we went a bit overboard," I muttered, checking the time. It was almost dark. I glanced at Arthur and Elijah, both sprawled out on the floor, bottles scattered around us.

Arthur had a decent liquor tolerance, but Elijah was out after only five shots. Ebon and Slyvie had been asleep since we started.

I stretched, feeling a pleasant buzz and a sense of contentment. Today had been fun—really fun.

Time to get them up and running. "Hey, Arthur," I nudged him, lifting him into a chair.

I did the same for Elijah, who stayed dead to the world. I slapped Arthur lightly on the cheek until he stirred.

"So, want to stay or go home?" I asked.

Arthur rubbed his head. "Let's go home. Mom would be worried about me."

I tried waking Elijah, but he was out cold. "Looks like we'll have to carry him. He won't wake up until tomorrow."

"Agreed." Arthur grabbed Slyvie and Ebon while I hoisted Elijah onto my back.

"Let's go," I said.At the counter, I dropped a bag of gold. The girl behind it beamed, counting the money. "Please visit us again."

"Yeah, sure," I replied as we exited the hotel.

"You can give me Elijah. I'll take him home. You should go to your own home," Arthur suggested.

"No need, man. I don't know if your precious arms will be able to hold him," I joked.

Arthur persisted, "Should I call a wagon, or can you walk?"

"Depends. Is your house nearby?""Yeah, it's just around the corner."

"Okay, we'll walk. Lead the way."

We walked, Elijah snoring lightly on my back, and the bonds snoozing peacefully in Arthur's arms.

"I really enjoyed today," Arthur said sincerely."Yeah, me too."As we fell silent, a groggy voice piped up from behind me. "Me too." It was Elijah, somewhat awake now.

As we entered the Helstea household, Elijah was still on my back, now a bit more awake. Arthur went in first and opened the door; the hall was empty. "Hey Lucas, follow me quickly," Arthur said.

I followed him upstairs to his room, which was neat and organized, a stark contrast to mine.

I dumped Elijah onto the bed, and Arthur walked me back downstairs. We started debating about the best fruit when we encountered an unexpected scene: Arthur's entire family sitting on the couches, their eyes fixed on us.

Both of us froze, stunned by the sight. "Hello, Uncle and Aunt. I'm Arthur's friend," I said, lifting my hand in a wave. Arthur gestured for me to hurry up.

As his parents were about to speak, we rushed out the door.I turned to Arthur and said, "Everything is on you, Dragon."

"Don't worry, Wyvern. I'll try my best," he replied, saluting me.

We saluted each other as I exited the Helstea property. I just hoped his parents wouldn't think too badly of me. Ebon in arms was still sleeping like a log.

Elijah ran to Arthur with Sylvie beside him, Mr. Helstea walking alongside them. "I can't wait for the announcement today! I heard from Rahdeas that the three kingdoms have been in talks of unifying," Elijah exclaimed with excitement.

"I know what's going to happen, but I won't spoil it—" Mr. Helstea suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Elijah followed his gaze and saw a group of kids beating another kid."Please, I didn't do anything," the black-haired kid pleaded, clutching his belly on the ground.

"Didn't do anything?" The red-haired kid, who seemed to be the leader, sneered. "It's bad enough that there are dwarves in Xyrus Academy now, but you dare go against the school rules?"

He stepped closer to the black-haired dwarf. "Protecting yourself with mana... don't you know that using magic outside of school grounds is forbidden?" he commanded. "Withdraw your mana."

The black-haired kid looked up in desperation as the gang closed in on him. "B-But—""I said, withdraw your mana!" The red-haired kid was about to strike when Elijah intervened, pushing him away.

"That's enough." Elijah knelt beside the black-haired kid, helping him up. "Are you okay? Can you stand?" he asked gently, supporting him as he confronted the red-haired bully.

"How dare you do this to—"Before Elijah could finish, a slap landed on his face, sending his glasses flying to the ground.

Elijah bowed in front of them, trying to control his anger to avoid causing more trouble for Arthur and Mr. Helstea.

"Hey, isn't that the symbol from the Kingdom of Darv?" an orange-haired kid noted.

"Yeah, you're right!" another kid with black hair chimed in.

The red-haired bully whistled as he grabbed Elijah's hair, yanking it. "What a fun turn of events. Did you want to join your half-pig brother on the ground here?"

A boy picked up his glasses. The red-haired kid sneered, "Open wide. I'll make sure you guys share the same hospital room."

The red-haired kid was about to hit Elijah when a voice interrupted his attack. "Oye, Art, let's play, shall we?" Lucas said, throwing a wooden bat to Arthur.

Arthur grabbed it firmly, his eyes glowing with a strong tint of blue. Lucas, his eyes glowing red with madness, looked fiercely at the group.

They charged.Lucas swung the bat, hitting the red-haired kid square in the face, sending him sprawling.

Arthur smacked another kid, the force of the blow shattering the bat and sending splinters flying.

"You think you're tough?" Lucas taunted, standing over the red-haired kid, who was clutching his bloodied face. "Guess what? You're not."

Arthur kicked another kid in the ribs, the sound of cracking bones echoing through the alley. "Stay down if you know what's good for you," he growled.

Lucas grabbed the red-haired kid by the collar and hauled him up. "Look at you, all bark and no bite," he sneered, delivering a punch to the kid's gut. The boy doubled over, gasping for breath.

Elijah, still bowing to the side, watched with wide eyes, clutching his own bruised arm. "Didn't expect this, did you?" he muttered to himself.

Lucas threw the red-haired kid against the wall, pressing the bat against his throat. "This is what happens when you mess with my friends," he hissed. "Remember that."

Arthur, meanwhile, had subdued the rest of the kids, who lay groaning on the ground. "You had enough?" he asked, his voice cold.Lucas released the red-haired kid.

Lucas released the red-haired kid, who fell face down on the ground, groaning in pain. Lucas sat comfortably on the boy's back, exhaling as if he were relaxing in an armchair. "Art, next time some side character messes with us, fuck 'em up on the spot. I'll handle the rest," he said casually.

Lucas looked at Elijah, who was slowly standing up. He tossed Elijah's glasses to him, which he had picked up earlier. "You okay, or need anything?" Lucas asked.

Arthur stood nearby, while Lucas remained seated on the red-haired kid, and Elijah adjusted his glasses. The three of them looked like a formidable gang.

Mr. Helstea watched them with a mixture of awe and fear. "Arthur, you should've gone a bit easier on them. They are nobles," he warned.

A voice, dripping with makeshift authority, interrupted them. "What's the meaning of this?"
