Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

A voice, dripping with makeshift authority, interrupted them. "What's the meaning of this?"

Lucas stood up from the red-haired boy casually as he looked at the source. The red haired bowed immediately as he saw who had arrived. "Princess Kathlyn and Prince Curtis," he greeted, his tone respectful with more fear than respect.

The entire group, including the injured, quickly followed suit, bowing deeply.

The red-haired kid, still bowing and trying to capitalize on the situation, whined, "Y-your majesties! My friends and I were simply enjoying our time conversing when these barbaric peasants started beating us up for no reason."

Lucas gave him a light kick on the back. "Who are you calling peasants?" he said with a casual sneer.

Elijah, about to defend his friends, opened his mouth, but the red-haired boy cut him off, still bowing. "We have been wronged."

Prince Curtis, not fully grasping the situation, turned to Arthur and demanded, "Is that true?"

Arthur looked at him, but before he could speak, Lucas stepped forward. "They're lying," he said, his expression clearly annoyed.

Mr. Vincent Helstea stepped in to clarify. "Yes, yes. They were the ones brutally beating the black-haired dwarf."

Prince Curtis, a bit surprised by Vincent's appearance, asked, "Mr. Vincent, what are you doing here?"

"We were on our way to the announcement in the plaza when we came across this group of hooligans bullying this poor boy," Vincent replied, gesturing to the black-haired dwarf boy, who was now bleeding from the mouth, a testament to the brutal beating he had endured.

Understanding a bit more, Prince Curtis turned to the group. "You dare lie?" he shouted angrily. "What is your name?"

The red-haired boy stood up straight from his bowing position. "I am Jamiel, firstborn son of House Trident, your majesty."

The Prince stayed silent for a moment, contemplating the repercussions of punishing this noble.

Jamiel, looking down at the ground, smirked, confident in his family's influence over the royal family.

Princess Kathlyn began to speak but was stopped by Prince Curtis. "Jamiel Trident, you have been deemed guilty—" she started, but her brother interrupted, "In the end, no one was seriously hurt, so if everyone agrees to get past this then—"Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a conversation behind him.

"Uncle Vincent, you got a two-way communication scroll on you, right?" Arthur asked.

Vincent, handing the scroll to Arthur, replied, "I do, but what are you—"Arthur cut him off, "Cynthia Goodsky."

Another voice, irritated at first, came through the scroll. "Vincent? You know I don't appreciate sudden—"Arthur interjected, "It's Arthur Leywin."

Her tone immediately softened, taking on a grandmotherly warmth. "Ah, Arthur, I'm so happy to hear from you! It's been so long!"

Everyone was stunned, unable to comprehend how this "peasant" had a direct line to the Director.

Lucas approached Arthur, looked at the scroll, and casually greeted, "What's up, Grandma?"

"Wait, is it you, Lucas? How have you been, child? When are you going to tell me about the little lights in your stomach?" she responded, her tone light and familiar.

Lucas, nervously scratching his chin, replied, "Yeah, I'm fine. You should listen to Arthur now. I'll tell you later when I come to the academy."

Arthur took over. "I need you to expel a boy named Jamiel Trident and his group of friends from your academy for racial bullying."

Lucas added, "And for the use of magic. He hit me with magic, see?" He showed them his slightly bruised cheek, with mischeivous glint in his eyes.

"Hold on, what's this all of a sudden? What did you say, Jamiel Trident? I don't think it's—" she started, but Arthur cut her off."That is... if you want me to attend your academy—"

Before he could finish his sentence, the Director's voice became robotic and decisive. "Done," she said, lifting a thumb. "They're expelled."

.

After some time, Prince Curtis approached Arthur, who was bandaging his hand. "Allow me to apologize for my behavior earlier. It was unbecoming for a prince to be easily swayed."

Arthur looked at him with a soft gaze. "It's okay, Prince Curtis."

Prince Curtis smiled. "I'm glad that those students won't be at Xyrus. There's no room for racism on this continent."

He then walked back to his gold-adorned wagon, where Princess Kathlyn was already sitting.

As the wagon started to move, Princess Kathlyn spoke from the window, looking at Arthur.

Arthur, noticing her gaze, wore a confused expression. "Would you like to have some tea together sometime?" she asked, her gaze soft.

Arthur replied nonchalantly, "Yes?"

"I'll see you at school," she continued, smiling softly.

Arthur did a light bow as the wagon moved away.

Lucas whistled. "My Dawg got the Rizz," he said, giving Arthur a shoulder hug and ruffling his hair.

"So, where were you going, Lucas?" Elijah asked.

"Nowhere, just familiarizing myself with the city," Lucas replied, scratching his head.

"Then let's go and see the announcement," Arthur suggested.

Lucas, a bit confused, asked, "What announcement about the other con—" Before he could finish, Arthur grabbed his mouth, glancing at Elijah, who was still in the dark about the topic.

"I see he doesn't know. Okay," Elijah said. "What is it that I don't know?"

"Nothing," Lucas scoffed as they started walking, with Vincent beside them.

Vincent asked, "Who is he, Arthur? I saw him at the mansion with you a few days ago. Your friend?"Arthur gestured to Lucas for an introduction.

Lucas raised his hand for a handshake in front of Vincent. Vincent grabbed it, and Lucas spoke, "I'm Lucas Wykes from the House Wykes."

Vincent, with a surprised and slightly fearful look, replied, "Lucas Wykes, the youngest AA Rank and one of the famous mysterious nobles right now." He swallowed his saliva, continuing to shake Lucas's hand before gradually letting go.

Vincent then whispered to Arthur, "Arthur, you should call him to your sister's birthday party next week."

Arthur turned to Lucas. "Oh yeah, next week, be sure to come to my little sister's birthday."

Lucas took out a parchment, glanced at it, and spoke, "Hmm, when's the time?"

"7:30," Arthur replied.

"Okay, I'll be there," Lucas reassured him with a thumbs up.

As they continued walking, Elijah asked Lucas, "What was that parchment?"

Lucas replied casually, "Nothing, just a basic plan for this month. Next week, I have some meetings to attend."

Arthur laughed. "What meetings? You aren't much of a big business guy, are you?"

"Yeah, just some little ones with the guild relating to items I want to sell them," Lucas said.

Arthur nodded and then asked, as Sylvie looked at Lucas, "Where's Ebon?"

"He's home, reading books," Lucas replied.

"Really?" Arthur asked, surprised.Lucas nodded.

"Yeah, really. He's always asking me the meaning of words. 'What's this? What's that?' It's traumatizing," he said with an exaggeratedly pained expression, making the others laugh.
