Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Wyne's announcement had shocked them all. Most of them were thinking about secretly going to him and bribing him or going to Mil and asking her to put in a good word for them but none of them knew he would just say it openly.

"Why the fuck should we offer you benefits? You're a filthy beastman!" a young man with long, brown hair yelled

"Yeah! You are just trying to abuse your position! Who cares about a stupid class rank?" another student yelled

"Simple," Will smirked. "I'm sure you all heard from the cafeteria that you need achievement points to get good food. But that is only half correct. You need achievement points to succeed here. The top 10 in the class during the weekly rankings get 10 points to 100 points based on the bottom to the top."

Wyne eyes focused on the two students who yelled about him being unfair.

"As for this being unfair: you're damn right. Life is not fair. But I won't do backroom deals for something like this since the results will be obvious by the end of the week. So I might as well be open with it and let you guys compete for it so I can see what everyone has to offer so I know I didn't miss out on something good."

Thebih was giggling to herself outside of the room. She knew that Hess would leave early and wanted to see if Wyne did anything interesting. And lucky for her, he did.

'I'm liking this kid more and more. He is using the achievement points to get what he wants. By making them compete in the open, not only is he maximizing his benefits but he is also staking their reputations. If anyone goes back on the deal after making it in front of the whole class, they will be ostracized,' she couldn't believe that a 15-year-old was so meticulous. 'I wonder if he has any interest in my Magical Beast class. I might just make him my disciple if he does.'

Back in the classroom, a girl with black hair stood up before raising her hand. Wyne looked at her and nodded.

"What are we allowed to offer?" she asked, curious about what he wanted. She could also see the hidden danger if they didn't follow through with their promise but she was still interested in taking the deal.

'He is smart and a bit evil but at least he is open about it. Much better than most of our classmates.'

"Anything. It could be items, tutoring, an exam partner, or even just open promises that I can use to ask for something in return later. As long as I find it worth something, I will accept."

"Do you currently have any points? Can we get the points you offer in advance and pay you back the amount we owe you later?' the girl nodded her head and asked another question

'I saw them rushing to the mission office that the other senior told me about last night. At first, I thought they were just fools who were trying to check them out ahead of time but he may have already completed one.'

Wyne eyed her and felt like he found one of the allies he was looking for.

'She's asking all the right questions but not showing her hand. I can have her be my left hand with that brain.'

"I do have points. Depending on what you offer, I am willing to pay the amount ahead of time but you need to offer me something worth you being 3rd place."

The girl sat down after he answered her question to think about her next move.

'Luckily, I brought a few grimoires with rare spells in them. Although I only have 2 low-tier Black Magic spells, I don't know what they are worth here. And I'm sure he won't let me go back and get that information.

If he gives me the 3rd place after himself and his friend, I can get myself 320 points. I'm just not sure if it will be worth it.'

Professor Thebih had to try her hardest not to go into the room and find out who the girl was.

'There are two of them? I thought Naliah was a monster with that brain of his but it seems there is someone who can play on the same field as him. This year is definitely going to be interesting.'

After hearing their exchange, other students started making offers but they were all betting low numbers or things that had little value. Some offered gold, others offered their bodies if they were pretty enough, and one person even offered to brush his tail.

None of these things interested him so Wyne wasn't paying too much attention to his fellow students. Instead, he was focusing on the girl who had asked the questions and the other students who seemed to be paying attention but had yet to say anything.

'She is trying to see what my lower limit is. There are a few good seeds here,' Wyne was glad he made the offer when he did.

"Enough. The next class is about to start. We will hold the final auction after the last class today. Take your time and think over what you are willing to offer."

Wyne didn't wait for them to respond before going back to his seat and sitting next to the sleeping Mil who took a nap as soon as Hess ended the class.

"Thebih. What are you smiling about?" a woman in sky-blue robes asked Thebih who was kneeling next to the door

"Ah, Vaeri," Thebih greeted her old friend. "We have a couple of good seedlings. I'm sure you will like two in particular. One is the Sage that Selena was telling us about while another is a girl who didn't speak up during my class. Either way, both of them both have some smarts to them."

"Hmm," Winter hummed indifferently before walking into the lecture room without further comment.
