Wyne ignored him and attempted to walk around the group but they moved to the side and continued to block his path.
"I said, 'Wait!' Can't you understand human language? Or do you speak only the language of animals?" The guy in the lead looked down on Wyne, which was hard since the latter was much taller than him.
"Either move out of my way or stay put. Impede my path again and I shall move you myself," Wyne had no patience for them. He had skipped lunch to get the information about all of the classes and the taste of blood in his mouth had only made his hunger grow.
"Don't you know who I am?" the blonde in the lead shouted
"Nope. Don't care. Now choose whether you will hold still or move out of my way," Wyne's ears were twitching from having to listen to the guy yell in front of him
The blonde felt that his pride had been insulted. He was from a count's family that was recognized all over the empire for their knight lineage. To be insulted, in his opinion, by Wyne in front of so many students made him nearly pull out the treasure his father had given him to teach Wyne a lesson. But when he saw that the receptionists were watching, he knew that doing that would only get him into trouble.
'This mutt is lucky that we are currently on school grounds,' the boy thought while loosening his tense jaw and turning it into a friendly smile.
"I think there might be a misunderstanding. My name Henkie van Dillen, the 2nd son of Count Dillen. I noticed you had some skill in hunting so I wanted to invite you to hunt with us. This is a rare opportunity so I hope that you will consider it before...," Henkei offered pretentiously
"Not interested. Weaklings have no right to ask to cooperate with me," Wyne interrupted. Only those that were skilled were allowed to hunt with him while those with some skill were allowed to be under him. But he would not tolerate those like Henkie who relied on their family names near him at all.
Henkei and his followers were infuriated by Wyne's words. He had not only rejected them but he also called them weak in front of all of their fellow students. If they let him get away with it, then they couldn't hold their heads high in the future.
'Fuck the rules! This mongrel needs to be taught a lesson,' Henkei reached into his robe and was about to pull out the artifact that his father had given him. But before he could pull it out, he saw a pink glow in Wyne's eyes before seeing a purple one.
"Sit," Wyne said one word. Henkei and his group immediately felt compelled to lower their butts to the floor while having their knees high and hands in front of them. With them on the floor, Wyne walked around them and out of the building.
The other 1st years felt surprised.
"Did they really sit just because he told them to?"
"Is that Beastman really that intimidating?"
"No way. Even if he was, they could have just moved aside. But they actually sat like dogs."
"Those guys are just cowards. That is really pathetic."
But while the 1st were surprised, the receptionists and senior students who had come down from the 2nd and 3rd floors were shocked. Because that was not the first time any of them had seen that scene or one like it.
"Did he just... use the Command spell?"
"That is a mid-tier dark spell. This is his first day of classes. That is impossible."
"That spell only affects low-tier mages though. That kid's older brother has been bragging all day that his brother has mid-tier talent?"
"Maybe he used something like Charm or a curse that made him more susceptible to mental attacks."
"That's even more impossible. Maybe the Command spell is a signature technique of his family so he learned all the information about it before he came here. Even if he had unstable mana, he could barely use a single spell before coming here."
"That's right. Are you suggesting he learned two spells or a spell and a curse before attending?"
"The only other possibility is that he learned them both today when he got his textbooks! Which one do you find more likely?"
Everyone was speaking about what Wyne had just done. While the 1st years thought he was just intimidating, the senior students knew that he used magic. The only question on their minds was how. And pretty soon, news of a 1st year Beastman using a low-tier and mid-tier spell throughout the academy.
When many of the professors heard this news, they were surprised that Wyne could use the command spell but were not too surprised about him being able to use the Charm spell. All of them were veterans who had explored the continent several times.
While most beastmen could not use magic, they had bloodline abilities similar to spells. Depending on what their bloodline was, would determine which bloodline spells they could use. The stronger the bloodline, the more powerful and larger the number of abilities they could use.
Rabbit beastmen could usually use an ability similar to the Jump spell, foxes and snakes usually had Charm, and avians could use something like Levitate, all of which were low-tier spells. Those with purer bloodlines could use abilities similar to mid-tier spells and even high-tier spells.
Selena was sitting in her office and smiled when she heard that Wyne had used a mid-tier ability.
"So that means he is no simple fox. The question is whether he just has a pure bloodline or..." Selena stopped her words, not wanting to get her hopes up. Selena's usually friendly smile was replaced by a sinister one.
"But if there is even the smallest chance that he does... it looks like I need to speed up my plan. I thought I would be stuck here forever. But if that boy is a sage and has a special bloodline, he may be able to help me. And I can burn this damn place to the ground."
Selena unconsciously unleashed some her of magical power, destroying half of her office and causing glowing runes to appear on her neck. Selena realized that she had lost control and began to retract her aura. As her power came back into her, the glow of the runes started to dim until they completely stopped and then disappeared.
