Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Wyne and the other Black Magic students walked out of the main academy building to see a large number of desks outside. Each desk had students in front of them, mainly 1st years with a few 2nd and 3rd years from the other schools. But there were no 2nd or 3rd year students from the School of Black Magic.

The other students from their class started rushing to the booths to catch up with the other students who had a headstart so it was only him and Mil that stayed next to the entrance.

'Makes sense. We have the largest number of classes compared to everyone else. Not only do we need to attend the Arcane class like they do but we also need to complete our 4 core classes instead of their 2-3,' Wyne realized the black magic students had a disadvantage compared to others. They would not have as much of a chance to become diverse mages since their core classes took up so much time. While they would have more magic, they may lack other skills compared to other students.

'So I need to make sure that everyone in my faction has diverse skills and don't overlap too much.'

Wyne was thinking about which classes he would observe to get a sense of what his fellow black mages would study when he felt a slap on his back.

"Mil. Not now," he told her, feeling slightly irritated about having to find this all out during the week while also finishing his missions

"My bad, my bad. You were just doing your thinking-bitch-face and figured you didn't want to show anyone that," Mil was actually trying to help him. Although Wyne always said what was on his mind, he made sure to keep his expression neutral or have a smile on it.

'Showing no emotion means they can't predict your next move. Showing a smile means they expect a friendly interaction. Since we are attractive, powerful, and mysterious to most students, those will be our biggest advantages,' Wyne warned her on the ride to the academy so Mil took those words to heart.

Although she was mostly passive, it was because she knew that Wyne was a reliable companion. His strengths made up enough for her shortcomings and made sure she was well taken care of.

"Thanks. I need you to do the recon today while I find out our schedules. Look for students taking different classes and see how interested they look. Also, make sure to check out which ones seem like they will be taking similar classes. We don't need those that will overlap with one another."

"Got it. I'm sure you're interested in Koxa and that commoner girl who offered to be our assistant. Anyone else I should pay extra attention to?" Mil had already seen a tree that would provide a great spot to view the other students

"Nope. I was planning to sign us up for the martial combat class, all of our sub-schools, and the magical beast class. You will also have to do both the blue magic schools as well. Interested in anything else?" Wyne asked but already knew she was going to complain about the workload

"C'mon!" and she did exactly as he expected. "Can't you take one of the classes and just tutor me later on a couple of spells?"

"Fine," Wyne agreed, also feeling like Mil's schedule would be overwhelming. She would have 11 classes after all if she went to every class. "I will handle Alchemy since Space-Time seems too useful to just pass on."

Wyne wasn't sure what Alchemy covered but he knew that Space-Time was far too useful. Even if Mil was fast, it was always better to have multiple escape routes.

The bunny girl cheered before rushing off and climbing the tree she had spotted before. She wanted to escape before Wyne changed his mind.

Wyne didn't pay any mind to her antics. He walked around to the different desks to find out what classes were offered and the different schedules. He stayed there from 11 in the morning till 5 in the evening.

While walking back from the session and returning to the dorm, he was thinking about how to make the schedule work best for both of them.

'The Magical Beast class is M, W, F class as well so we can take that after lunch. We should sign up for the Martial Combat class in the mornings so we can get in our morning exercise with that. Space-Time after that for both of us and then we can split up. I'll ask her opinion on the Blue Magic classes but we need to make sure we sign her up for those tomorrow.'

Most of the classes that he wanted them to take were offered on Tuesday and Thursday which was exactly what he wanted. He did not want to have too many classes in one day so having half be on the other days was much better.

Besides the classes he thought of before, he had very little interest in taking any other class. They were either useful or too time-consuming and would take away from his Black Magic training. But he did find out the various classes he wanted to pay attention to in order to build up his faction.

One thing that did catch his eye was Alchemy though. He had thought that was the branch of magic that included potion creation but he was wrong.

Alchemy had 3 types of magic that it used. Transmutation, Conjuration, and Poison magic. Poison was the most obvious in what it did. It allowed the mages to create different types of poisons that could kill, paralyze, or cripple opponents.

Transmutation dealt with altering one's self or other objects for certain amounts of time. Some of these changes could be permanent but most were temporary. But the perk of these was that they could overcome the elemental magic of the Green, Red, and Blue schools by changing the terrain or even the spells themselves if the transmuter was skilled enough.

Conjuration was another field of powerful spells. It was similar to necromancy but different. It dealt with using a familiar, creating golems, and summoning various types of creatures but all of these were based on one's affinity.

All in all, Alchemy was a school of magic that worked great with Black Magic. He could create even more summons that obeyed his will and could use his spells without the worry of harming beings of the other school.

No matter what, he was glad that he had the time to take the class. He was more curious about how many students from his school and from the School of White Magic would attend the class.
