Chapter 13 - That's how it all happened

Morgana agreed to it after thinking it through, they got married within the same week, it was a low-key wedding but the news about it spread like wildfire. Auntie Fiona who was celebrating her victory was shocked by the news, she didn't even know about the wedding, all she saw were photos surfing the internet.

And that's how it all happened.

.....End Of Flashback....

Auntie Fiona pulled out her phone and decided to call her son, before she called dialled his number, a call came through, and looking at the caller ID she saw it was the same person she was about to contact.

"Good morning mom, how are you doing? It's been a while since I lastly heard from you." Came the voice of her beloved son.

"What is good about this morning? Huh? You useless boy. I've been doing everything for your future but you are doing nothing to aid me." She attacked.

"Mom I've told you countless times to stop whatever you are doing because I don't want to be my cousin. I am my own person, stop trying to make me be like my cousin. Maxwell is a good person and what you are doing to him is no good. He has been there for us since Dad died, his parents didn't for once abandon us but you are being ungrateful." Her son reprimanded her.

"Trevor Mayor how dare you talk to me in that manner? Have you forgotten who you talking to? I am your mother and I demand respect!" She warned.

"Sometimes we need to forget about respect when we want to speak sense into the heads of the people we care for." Came his reply. "Mom I only called to let you know that I'll be back soon, I have to go." He cut the call, he was tired of talking about this.

Fiona huffed out air through her agape mouth, her eyes flared up with rage, and she threw everything on her makeup table on the floor. "What should I be grateful for? They gave their son everything but left nothing for my son and me, I will only be happy when they hit rock bottom." She muttered.

Back in the living room, the almighty CEO Maxwell Mayor, who makes his employees shiver whenever he is around, has curled himself on the couch with his head on his mother's thighs, he was fast asleep.

His mother was weaving her hand through his healthy logs, "Should I talk to her? Morgana will listen to me if I tell her to come back home." Clarissa looked at her husband Laurence for approval.

"I thought we agreed not to butt into their lives." Laurence raised an eyebrow.

"I know we did but you know Morgana, she wouldn't move in back with him so easily. You know the only reason she accepted to marry Maxwell that day was because of her ego and he drove her out of his house, she won't go back to him easily because it's going to hurt her ego."

"You have a point. Sometimes I think you birthed that girl because of how she behaves like you at times, you should talk to her, I'm certain she will listen to you, she likes you anyway." Laurence smiled at his wife when he saw the frown on her face, he just called her an egoistic person.

"I'll let this one slide because you accept my request." She muttered and picked up her phone, she dialled Morgana's number and she picked up on the first ring.

"Good morning sweetheart," Clarissa smiled as though the girl from the other side of the phone could see her, she was exceptionally happy to hear her delicate voice again.

"Good morning mom, how are you and Dad doing?" She asked.

"We've been okay, I'm happy to hear that you've decided to give Maxwell another chance although he acted like a fool." She frowned at her son who was comfortably sleeping on her thighs.

"Honey, he has been trying, hasn't he? Don't you think it's time you let him in?" Clarissa's voice was soft and careful, she didn't want her to feel like she was pressuring her into getting back with Maxwell.

"I was thinking about it, I was thinking of calling him to come pick me up. I texted him but he hasn't replied."

"Oh he's here with me, I forced him to take a nap. He told me he has been working all night because he left his work undone to take you out for dinner last night." She meant to tell her about it so she would see his efforts.

"I feel bad right now, I'll call him in the evening then," Morgana said. "By the way mom, how is dad? Tell him I said hi." She smiled.

"Of course honey I'll let him know you said hi, I'll drop now. Take care and I promise to stop by the house first thing tomorrow morning to meet you and my grandchild and maybe cook you a meal."

"That'd be lovely mom, I've missed your cooking." After talking for what seemed like forever in the eyes of Laurence, she finally dropped the call and gave him a wide smile.

"From the smile on your face, I can tell that your work was a success," Laurence smirked.

"Have I ever failed? I'd have brought her back a long time ago but I wanted to teach this boy who took after you by the way, a lesson.... Are the men in your family always like this? Jumping to conclusions without reasoning things." She smirked at him.

"Only the good ones jump to a conclusion." Came his comeback, both laughed out loud almost waking the boy sleeping on his mother's thighs. Clarissa slapped her husband's leg and told him to keep it down as if she wasn't laughing as loud as well. The door opened revealing one of the maids holding some files, they were the paperwork Maxwell had to look at.

Meanwhile, back in Fiona's room, she was busily cooking another scheme but this time she wasn't alone, she had called an allay, someone who wanted to get in the way of Morgana's and Maxwell's happy marriage. She was none other than...
