Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

In the morning, a person wakes up from their king-sized bed. Today is the day awaited by Isabelle and Zac, but with different feelings and different purposes.

Isabelle is eagerly anticipating today. Because she wants to be free from a man like Zac as soon as possible. Even though deep down in her heart, there is still love for Zac. She has never demanded anything from Zac all this time. But what he gave her was only unhealed wounds.

Meanwhile, Zac hopes that in court, he can persuade Isabelle to withdraw her lawsuit. Honestly, he still has feelings for Isabelle, but he cannot leave Jenny. He's selfish, really really selfish; he wants to have both of them.

Zac comes to court with his mother, while Jenny is not allowed to come along because it could disrupt their plans. This is their first trial.

They sit and wait in courtroom 1, where courtroom 1 will be used for the divorce proceedings of Isabelle and Zac.

It's been almost 30 minutes since Zac arrived at the court. He looks around, searching for Isabelle. Occasionally, he exhales heavily.

"Who are you looking for?" he's asked, following Zac's gaze.

"I'm looking for Isabelle, but she hasn't arrived yet," says Zac, who keeps looking left and right, hoping to see Isabelle.

Fifteen minutes later, Isabelle arrives with her lawyer. Zac sees Isabelle's arrival and stands up to meet her. But without their knowledge, Jenny watches them from a distance. To ensure the divorce trial of Isabelle and Zac, whether they will really separate or not.

"Yes, can we talk for a moment?" Zac says softly, glancing at his lawyer who is next to him.

Lydia understands Zac's intention and stands up, giving the husband and wife some time to talk.

"Lydia, where are you going?" Isabelle asks, holding Lydia's hand.

"I'm not going anywhere. Talk to him," she says, then goes to sit in another seat not far from Isabelle's seat.

"What else do you want to talk about?" Isabelle asks without looking at Zac.

"Can't we fix our relationship, I mean, can we go back to how we used to be?"

"We can't. Something that's broken can't go back to how it was."

"We can if we try," he says confidently.

Isabelle chuckles at Zac's words, finding them funny. "So, Zac, what will you do with Jenny and her child?" she says sarcastically, leaving Zac speechless.

After a while, Zac is silent. "Can we live together, and I will be fair to both of you?" he says confidently.

"Sorry, I can't share a husband with another woman," she says firmly, without room for debate.

"Return to your seat and don't bother me again," she says.

Zac returns to his seat near his mother, feeling restless. Because the scheduled time is approaching. The loudspeaker announces the call for Zac and Isabelle. Zac comes without a lawyer, while Isabelle comes with her lawyer and her friend Lara. Because Isabelle no longer has both parents. Her parents have been gone since an accident five years ago.

The panel of judges enters the courtroom.

"The plaintiff, please confirm your identity. Your name is Isabelle Wilkerson, 30 years old, married. Is all that information correct?"

"Yes, Your Honor."

"Is Isabelle in good health today? Not under duress or pressure?"

"Yes, Your Honor, I am in good health and not under any pressure," she says firmly.
