Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

In the evening, Alex returned to his parents' house.

"Good, you just got back." Alex stopped in his tracks when he heard his mother's sarcastic tone. Ignoring his mother's comment, he continued to his room.

"ALEX... MOM ISN'T FINISHED TALKING YET." She yelled, looking annoyed at her son.

20 mintes later, Alex came out of his room, getting ready to leave.

"Alex..." Alex stopped in his tracks upon hearing his mother's call, then turned to look at her.

"What is it, Mom?" He asked flatly.

"Alex, you just got back, and now you're leaving again."

"Mom, I have some business to attend to."

"Come, sit down first. Mom wants to talk." She invited Alex to sit on the sofa.

"But, mom, I have an important meeting," he said, glancing at his watch.

"What kind of work are you doing so late at night? Or are you going to race again?" she inquired, investigating.

"What do you want to talk about? I don't have much time." He asked to the point.

"Come on, sit down."

"Alex, can you please be nicer to Lean?"

"If you only wants to talk about Lean, you are just wasting my time." He was annoyed because his mother insisted on pairing him with Lean.

"Alex, Lean is a good girl. You should take her out."

"Mom, I only see her from the outside, but I don't know what Lean does out there."

"Mom has known Lean's family for a long time. They are respectable people, just like us."

"Why does mom always judge people from the outside? And you should know, I don't want to be forced into a relationship with Lean or anyone else. I can choose who I want to be with." He said and then stood up to leave.

"ALEX, I DON'T CARE. YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THIS MATCHMAKING WITH LEAN!!!" She shouted emotionally, glaring at Alex.

"What's going on, all this noise at night?" Alex's father spoke from the stairs and approached his wife and son.

"Just ask your wife." He said annoyed and left the living room, leaving the husband and wife behind.

"Alex..." Alex's mother called, but Alex didn't care about her call; he continued walking toward his beloved motorcycle.

"Why are you so angry?" Alex's father said, "Remember, her high blood pressure might act up."

"Alex is hard to control. I just want the best for him." She said sadly, still watching her son leave.

"Honey, if you keep insisting on matchmaking Alex with your friend's daughter, he will only get angrier and distance himself from us. Alex is already an adult, and he can determine his own path in life." He said, gently caressing his wife's head and trying to make her understand. "Do you understand what I mean?"

"But... I'm afraid Alex will make the wrong choice in finding a partner." Alex's father just smiled at his sulking wife.

"Let's go to bed; it's already late. We can discuss this later." He said, gently pulling his wife's hand towards their bedroom.

Upon arriving at his headquarters, Alex immediately sat on the sofa with his face downcast.

"Why the long face, like it hasn't been ironed yet, so wrinkled."

"I'm annoyed."

"Is it about the matchmaking again with that snake?"

"Yeah, where are the others?"

"They're still on the road."

"Enough, bro, cheer up, or we can go to a club and check out some sexy girls." Alex threw a sofa cushion towards Layton.

"I'm not in the mood, you can go."

"Hahaha."

"Hey, handsome people have arrived," Nathan shouted narcissistically, making his friends shake their heads in response.

"Noisy."

"Hehe, the boss is here." Nathan grinned broadly, displaying his neatly arranged white teeth. Nathan sat down next to Alex, followed by the others.

"When is the next race?" He asked flatly.

"In a little while, at midnight, boss. The prize is pretty good."

"Register me; I'll join the race tonight."

"Alright, boss."
