Chapter 2 - Attack

After realizing that he could gain experience from the deaths of his unit, Theo was extremely happy, but he still needed to resolve an issue urgently, he had nowhere to spend the night today. Thinking about this, he opened the 'Craft' section in the menu, and as he imagined, there were blueprints of different types of things, from hammers, ax and stone pickaxe to different shelters such as temporary shelter, permanent shelter, small house, big house, etc.

Everything needed resources to be made, some were easy to obtain, like stones and wood, others were more difficult, like iron, energy stones, flat boards, stone blocks, clay blocks, ores of different metals. But that wouldn't stop Theo from trying to collect them, and if he didn't find them in the forest, he would use the trade tab to exchange items with other players.

At this moment, while Theo was thinking about what he should build first, his skeleton returned with the corpse of a rabbit in his bony hands. He then offered it to Theo, who took it with a bit of disgust, as it was the first time he had seen a dead animal and touched it.

As soon as Theo touched the rabbit's corpse, a notification came to his rescue.

[Rabbit Body Found, do you want to collect it?].

[Yes] [No]

Theo chose, yes, at the same time and the body turned into items stored in his inventory, when he opened the inventory to see what he had received he saw 3 squares, which he decided to call slots like in video games, occupied.

One of these slots had a flesh design with a small number 2 at the bottom, which he deduced was the quantity, the other two slots had 1 skin and 2 teeth. Other than that, nothing was left of the rabbit's body, so Theo decided it was time to obtain resources, he ordered his skeleton to collect wood, branches that were on the forest floor.

The skeleton waved again and left, not long after, he returned with some tree branches he found on the forest floor, but the quantity was very small, there were 5 in total. This would only serve as firewood for the fire he intended to make, so he decided he would go with the skeleton, as that way he could fill his inventory with wood and stones faster.

It was risky to leave the clearing's protection, but with a single skeleton gathering resources, it would take him a long time to have enough to create the things he needed. Determined, he marched after his skeleton out of protection, they walked for a few meters before finding more resources and Theo didn't go any further than that in case he needed to quickly return to protection she wouldn't be far away.

He walked in circles around the clearing to collect whatever resources he could, after he gathered some, he decided to create a stone ax to get more wood quickly. The stones were scarcer, but there were still a small amount of them on the ground and also some larger ones that would need to be broken with a pickaxe to be transported.

Theo passed the ax to his skeleton, told him to chop down the tree closest to the shelter, he then went back inside and used the few resources he had to create a fire. As soon as he selected create, a virtual projection similar to the bonfire appeared in his vision, and it followed his will, moving everywhere, he chose a location near the mausoleum where he would set up his shelter/house in the future.

After choosing the location, the ready fire materialized there, he then removed a piece of meat from his inventory and dropped it on the large stone in the center of the fire that would heat up as soon as the fire started. The meat was a beautiful piece of steak with little visible fat and no bones, perfect for roasting on a stone that would serve as a griddle in the modern world.

Before he could call his skeleton, Theo heard the sound of the tree falling, it was so loud that he was sure it would attract the attention of predators. He ran to the place and when he touched the tree, to his surprise, he could collect it, accepting it to see what the result would be, and he was surprised when 5 wooden logs appeared in his inventory, in a slot.

This was the main item to make a permanent shelter, but the quantity made him a little sad, as the tree should have yielded much more wood if it was cut down personally and not by the game system. But that will have to do for now, so he ordered his skeleton to cut down all the trees that were within two meters of the barrier.

This way he would have a 360° line of sight, this would prevent surprise attacks from further ahead when the protection period ended. He also asked his skeleton to use his sword to create sparks that would light the bonfire, then go back to cutting down the trees.

Based on the position of the sun, Theo estimated that it was around 10 am, so he would have plenty of time to collect logs to create the shelter. The fire was already lit, and the meat would soon begin to cook, so Theo kept an eye on it so that neither side burned, turning it occasionally.

Soon the smell of cooking meat spread through the air, and the sound of falling trees drew a visitor into the clearing. A huge wolf was in the shade of the tree, looking closely at Theo and watching his movements every time he turned the meat. It didn't take long for the desire to get food and the anger of that being to dominate the wolf and impel it to attack.

What he didn't know was that that golden light he saw was, in fact, a barrier and ended up colliding against it, drawing the being's attention to itself. As soon as Theo saw that huge wolf that had crashed into his barrier, he quickly called Bones and told him to attack the wolf and run into the protection and repeat the process over and over until the wolf died. This was one of the advantages of having a protective barrier.
