Chapter 6 - Well and Update

As soon as the day dawned, Theo quickly got up, and the first thing he did was check his status to see if the ranger had accomplished his mission, but the notifications stopped him before opening the status.

[His unit killed a rabbit, 5 XP was gained.]

[His unit killed a rabbit, 5 XP was gained.]

[You leveled up and gained 6 attribute points.]

[You have gained a new skill: Lumberjack]

Theo then opened his status very excitedly, his first skill was here, and he didn't care that it was about cutting down trees.

This is what his status looked like after distributing his free points, he then clicked on the skill to see its details.

[Skill: Lumberjack: You have a better chance of getting an extra unit when you collect trees that you felled or helped to fell.]

It wasn't the coolest of skills, but it would be very useful for him, especially today when he would spend hours cutting down trees and selling some to get the necessary stones. He then left and went to the mausoleum to recruit today's unit, who he hoped would be more of a skeleton warrior or else a zombie that could be useful in cutting down the trees.

As he approached and focused his gaze, the information appeared as well as the usual question, to which he answered with a yes, and soon his new unit was leaving. And just as he really wanted a basic skeleton warrior, he would let the ranger recover his energy in the mausoleum until noon and then send him out hunting.

Theo and his two warriors began the day's tree cutting, and it was much faster this time, just before 11 a.m., they had already cleared the two-meter area that Theo wanted from the beginning. But they didn't stop there and continued a little further, with the ranger protecting him closely, he decided to risk moving a little further away from the protection.

It was upon realizing that it was noon that Theo decided to return home and came across an enemy, a brown bear that seemed furious for encountering him during his walk. Theo ordered his three units to fight to protect him while he stayed at the back and tried to find an opportunity to run into cover, the two warriors took the lead and used their swords to attack the bear.

It seemed that this bear was of a higher level than his skeletons, and it was at that moment that Theo regretted not letting them go hunting and leveling up. He promised himself that he would keep them hunting once he got the well and upgraded the house. The bear wasn't taking much damage from the warriors' attacks, but the ranger was preparing to release an arrow, and from what Theo could see from his position, the skeleton was aiming for the head.

If he hit, it would do high damage, but if he missed, it would make the bear much angrier. A few seconds later, he released the arrow, and it flew straight into the bear's eye, causing a lot of damage and also causing the bear to lose part of its vision. Taking advantage of this situation, Theo remained hidden from the bear's view, and after a few minutes, he ran to the protection of the barrier.

He ran with all his strength without worrying about his units, and after managing to enter the barrier, he ordered his units to go back inside. Using the method of fighting from within the barrier, they managed to kill the bear and make a good harvest of XP and meat.

[His unit killed a bear, 35 XP was gained.]

Looking through his inventory, he noticed a new skin, this one larger than the previous ones. As soon as he took it out, he saw that it was a complete bear skin that could be used as a rug on Earth. Here, Theo would use it as a bed. It was a warm skin that would make the floor a little softer.

After he placed it in his home, he returned to the forest and collected all the trees he had already cut down, his skill giving him two extra logs in total. Theo now had over 300 logs, he sold the surplus to get the missing stones.

He got even more than he needed, so he quickly set out to build the well, which was his priority at the moment. Updating the house would be the next thing on his to-do list, but Theo didn't miss the opportunity and sent all his skeletons out hunting until they needed to return to the mausoleum.

With that out of the way, he entered the crafting section and selected the well construction, the vision of the finished project appeared in his vision waiting for him to select the location in which it would be built. Then he approached the house, took three steps to the left and then turned to his right and took another five steps, then selected that location for construction.

The materials quickly disappeared from his inventory and a new well was created, it was an old model of those that had a bucket tied to a rope with a crank to lower and pull the bucket. As soon as he focused his gaze on the well, new information appeared on a screen.

[Beginner Well]

[Yields 2 liters of water per hour, maximum capacity 100 liters.]

[Requirements for improvement: 100 Stones, 10 meters of Rope.]

[Maximum capacity improvement: 200 liters]

It wouldn't be very difficult for him to obtain the stones, but the rope would be a separate problem, as it could only be manufactured on a loom using vegetable fibers, which he had no idea where to obtain. He had seen some vines in the forest, but he doubted that the system would accept them as rope, or even as fiber for creation.

Returning to the house, he decided to improve it to an average house and see what would be new, then he focused back on the house like he did the night before. The information emerged and in the end the question was asked if he wanted to improve, to which he responded with, yes. And the house started to shine soon after, that light was transforming and getting wider, Theo already imagined that he wouldn't have a taller house, but rather a new room.

When the transformation finished, he noticed that part of the floor was made of stone and upon entering the house he understood why. It was supposed to put a fire there, to keep the house warm in winter and also for cooking. The door looked like it could take a few good ax blows, but it couldn't hold back a bear if he came.

With everything ready, he decided to end the day after facing a bear, he was mentally exhausted, and no one could blame him.
