Chapter 10 - Zombie

After collecting everything the goblins gave him, Theo could finally go to his makeshift bed, he checked the chats, and finding no news about other people attacking creatures, or even a ghost sighting, he could sleep peacefully.

When dawn came, he did his morning ritual, which now included recruiting a new unit, which turned out to be yet another skeleton warrior, he now had 4 of these units, 1 ranger and a ghost. With that done, he ordered the skeletons to go hunting to increase their levels, except Bones who had the highest level and would be protecting him today.

In the company of Bones, Theo started cutting down the trees once again, and despite being used to it, he felt a little bored. Then, at noon, Amethyst returned with information about the other player. Upon noticing her master's curious expression, Amethyst flew to him and gave her report, the main information she discovered was that the other lord's unit was of the human species.

They were mostly warriors, but there were also some farmers who didn't work because they didn't have farm fields in the clearing. She didn't know if they could pose any real threat when the attack was made. But she was sure they wouldn't be as strong as the warriors who went out hunting in the morning, returned at noon, and never came out again.

There was a small house in their camp, as well as some temporary shelters that were built every afternoon by the warriors. She had not yet seen the Lord of that place, as she spent most of her time at home giving orders to her units.

After listening to her, Theo gave her permission to recover her energy in the mausoleum, and he thought seriously about what he would do next. Finding no other solution, he returned to camp and waited for one of his skeletons to return from hunting. Theo had told them to take turns who would return with the bodies, so he could avoid everyone returning at the same time, and missing opportunities.

When he saw one of his skeletons, he returned and smiled because his luck was great, the skeleton that returned was his ranger, whom he wanted to give orders to.

He approached the ranger and said.

"Go out and look in the forest for other tribes or villages that are like the one you attacked yesterday, as soon as you find them. Go back and take your companions with you to kill them, but I want you to be sure that your strength will be enough for that. I can't lose any of you to an attack."

Ranger then ran through the forest without making a sound, this was an important part of why Theo sent him. He was the most efficient at moving through the forest after Amethyst who could ignore the obstacles in front of him. Not long after, he returned and took the warriors with him, as Theo no longer saw them return with the bodies of the hunts.

Before starting to prepare his dinner, one of the skeletons returned and caught Bones attention, asking him to follow him, and Theo gave his permission, since Amethyst was still at the camp. He realized that without Bones help, they wouldn't make it, so Ranger sent a skeleton to come get him.

He had understood that the mentality of his units was not very high, as they could not follow complex orders, but now the ranger showed that at least they understood their strength levels and those of their opponents. Being able to make the choice not to fight against those stronger than them was extremely important at this time of development, where he could not lose even a skeleton.

Theo ate dinner and then retired to his house and slept, knowing that when he woke up he would have good news from his hit squad. And so he relaxed until dawn, waking up to the sun coming through the window.

After getting up and washing, he left to begin his last day of protection, which was also the day he would complete his stone wall. Theo headed to the mausoleum as soon as he left the house, he hoped to get a new unit today, maybe another ranger or another ghost like Amethyst.

To his disappointment, all he got was a zombie, and despite it being a new unit he didn't have, it wasn't exactly what he expected.

[Zombie]

[Level: 1 0/100]

[Skill: None]

This zombie, unlike the skeletons, didn't have a profession, and that left Theo surprised, but it also made him think about some things he wanted to test. So he quickly sent his zombie out to cut down trees. What he planned was to test whether this zombie would gain the skill or even the profession of lumberjack if he spent a long time repeating this and then leveled up.

Now it was time to see his gains, he opened the notifications and noticed that the ranger had leveled up, but the rest of the skeletons had not. This caught his attention, so he headed to where they were waiting for his orders. Arriving there, he noticed the pile of monkey bodies that were at the feet of their skeletons, and then he noticed why the ranger had gained more experience than the others.

Monkeys were fast animals that preferred to live high in the trees, so they would be difficult to hit for warriors who could not reach them from afar, like ranger with their bow. Asking the skeletons how they had fought, the explanation confirmed his mental image of the battle.

Ranger shot his arrows at the monkeys knocking down or killing them, the caimans were then killed by Bones and the warriors, so most of the experience went to him. There were no resources other than some fruits like bananas, apples, and a fruit that Theo didn't recognize, but it looked like an avocado, but with a blue skin.

Theo decided to see the fruits later and focused on collecting the bodies, just like the bear and the wolf, these monkeys gave him meat that piled up in his inventory with what was still there. In addition to meat, they also gave skins, and some gave fur. After analyzing one of the tufts of fur, he discovered that it could be used to create rope in the crafting section.

The last body in the pile seemed bigger, and for some reason, when Theo touched him, Bones stood next to him as if to protect him from something. Seeing nothing different about the body other than its size, he decided to collect normally, but that's when the surprise came.
