Chapter 3 - New Information

Thus, a few minutes passed before the wolf finally died, so Theo ordered the skeleton to bring its body, so he could collect his rewards. When he touched the corpse, the same collection notification appeared, and he selected, yes, quickly opening his inventory, he saw that the slot with meat had a different number than before.

Now there were 5, so he had gained 4 pieces of meat from the wolf, the remaining piece was from the rabbit that he had not removed. He also saw a new skin and a bone, this bone could be used to craft some things in the crafting section of the menu. These weren't things Theo needed right now, so he left them there for when it was time to use them.

After dealing with this, Theo decided to look at the notifications of the wolf's death.

[His unit killed a Wolf, 25 XP was gained.]

With this new gain, he had already gathered more than 1/4 of the experience needed to reach level 2, using this method, he could gain experience faster and more safely for both him and his skeleton. Safety was his top priority now, as only then could he continue leveling up and becoming stronger.

Theo ordered his skeleton to go back to cutting down the trees, while he looked at the flesh that almost burned as he watched the fight, but thank heavens it didn't happen. He removed the meat using a piece of wood and now had nowhere to put it, so he opened the craft section and used a wooden unit to create a plate and a fork.

They appeared in his inventory, and he quickly removed the plate, placed the meat on it, and then prepared to enjoy his meal. It was almost eleven, from what he could tell based on the position of the sun.

It had been an hour since he placed the meat to roast on the stone, and it took a long time to heat up before starting to cook the meat. Theo was hungry, so this meat, even without any seasoning, was wonderful. When he finished eating, he began to collect the trees that had been felled by his skeleton.

In the end, he managed to cut down five trees in that time, which yielded 25 logs, which were 1/4 of what was needed to create a small house, which was not Theo's goal, but became one. He was sure he could get the rest by night, so he asked his skeleton to speed up since he didn't get tired and wouldn't need to stop occasionally.

The hours passed quickly, and Theo was bored with nothing to do, so he opened the regional chat and started browsing the messages to see if he could find any valuable information. But there was nothing new that could pique his interest. He then opened the world chat and was impressed by the number of individuals in that channel, there were more than 7 billion people. And there were many messages from people desperate to leave their protection and be attacked by monsters or wild animals much stronger than them and their units. Some managed to save themselves by sacrificing their units to return to the safety of the barrier, but some were not so lucky and died for exactly that reason, the number was not greater.

Here he got some new information, such as knowing that some players appeared in deserts and others in mountains. And that there were even unlucky players who appeared in places where there was only ice around and were dying due to the cold.

Another important piece of information was that the groups where some old people or children were placed appeared to be in safe places, or at least with fewer dangers around. They also got some materials early on, so they could build larger temporary shelters for these less able people.

After learning this, he felt calmer, knowing that he wouldn't have to worry about his family members being killed immediately after they appeared. He had a few family members on his father's side, on his mother's side, everyone had already left. He lost his parents when he was still a child and never had much contact with the rest of his family, who left him in the care of an orphanage and took all the money his parents left him. Despite this, he did not want the older members or the children to pay for the mistakes of his greedy uncles.

With this information and his lighter heart, he decided to join his skeleton in cutting down trees, with both of them attacking the same tree, the process was accelerated. A few hours later, Theo was exhausted and breathing with some difficulty due to all the effort he had made.

But his effort paid off, and now he had already reached half of the materials target for building the small house. His tireless skeleton continued the work after he stopped; that was one of the strengths of having an undead unit, they didn't need rest or even food.

Theo discovered through a conversation with signs that all his skeleton required was to spend a few hours in the mausoleum to regain its energy. This was also in line with his intention to leave the skeleton doing nothing during the night to watch, something he wouldn't need to worry about as long as he had the protective barrier. And then he would have many units that could take turns defending and monitoring his territory.

Now another problem arose for Theo to solve before nightfall, he required water to drink. This was undoubtedly very important, even more so now that he had spent all this effort cutting down trees. He got close to his skeleton and asked if, at the time he was hunting that rabbit, he had found clean water nearby, and his skeleton shook his head negatively. Theo tried again and asked for water only, and this time he got a positive answer.

He then created a wooden bucket and gave it to the skeleton, telling him to get the water, if everything went well, he would only need to boil the water for a while to be able to drink it. When his unit returned a few moments later, what was in the bucket was a kind of liquid sludge that, even after boiling, would be impossible to drink.
