Chapter 5 - Big Hunt

This was the method Theo would use to get everything he needed to have a chance of surviving until the end of this game. His next objective was the well, so he would no longer need to buy water from other players and could start selling.

He received a notification while he was resting that his skeleton ranger had killed a rabbit and gained experience for both of them. He then waited for the corpse to be brought in to collect it and give him further instructions.

As soon as the skeleton returned, he offered the rabbit to Theo and waited. Theo collected and checked the things in his inventory, and they were the same as the ones the last one had given him. So he ordered the skeleton to hunt small animals and bring them to the camp before returning to the hunt. This made him excited, as it didn't take long for him to kill his first target. So he would be faster than his other skeleton, and this was due to the fact that he had the ability to track and hunt.

When the skeleton returned to hunting, Theo returned to collecting trees with his other unit. And so he spent the rest of his day, which was occupied only by cutting trees, also collecting logs and some sales to get more stones for the construction of the well. When it was getting dark, Theo stopped and checked the hunting of his other skeleton that was arriving, and then told him to wait. There were more than ten corpses piled up in the place where he told the skeleton to place the bodies.

There were 4 level 1 rabbits that gave you 20 XP in total, 1 level 2 rabbit that gave you 10 XP, and 3 squirrels that gave you 4 XP each, for a total of 12 XP. And to finish, with two green snakes that, to his surprise, gave 10 XP each, and a sparrow that gave only 2 XP, his final harvest of experience was 64, which combined with the 30 he had before totaled 94.

There was only 6 XP left to go up to level 2, so Theo decided to send his ranger to hunt the last two rabbits to make sure he could pass the limit. After collecting all the corpses, his resource harvest was 17 steaks and 2 bird legs, as well as skins, teeth, bones, and feathers. The feathers could be used to make arrows or a pillow if you had cloth, something that for now Theo didn't have and wasn't even thinking about buying. He only had 10 feathers, and it would take more than 200 to create the pillow.

Theo removed a steak from his inventory and placed it on the stone to roast, this time he would take care of it all the time so that there was no danger of it burning. He also prepared a bowl with a piece of ice to make water. After that, he took care of his food while taking a look at the information that players had put into the regional and world chats, as well as the offers in the trading area.

There was no new information, other than some players dying from leaving protection, in the trading area, he saw some interesting things. Like people selling meat from different animals, selling bird eggs, and some even selling land to get some food or water. These should be the players who fell into the desert and had nothing left to sell, while those selling food must have had plenty of food. Or else, they wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to portray a hero image that would serve to create alliances with these desperate players.

Theo, despite having a lot of food, knew that he couldn't always have a plentiful hunting day like today, so he wouldn't dare sell it just to not have it later. He then decided to look at his inventory to account for his resources, which at the moment were 150 logs, 75 stones, 16 steaks, 2 thighs, 10 feathers, 15 teeth, and 2 claws. In addition to the 13 skins that all the bodies dropped, it may seem like a lot, but it was actually less than he needed at the moment.

The well had a requirement of 100 stones plus 20 logs to be created, and he hadn't gotten the total yet, so he would have to wait until tomorrow to sell more trees and be able to complete the requirements.

At that moment, his meat was ready, and he started to eat, he asked his skeleton to remove the bowl of water so that it could cool down while he ate. After the meal he decided to lie down in his house since it could take a while for his skeleton ranger to return, as few small animals would be out of their holes at that time.

Lying down with nothing to do, Theo focused his gaze on the ceiling of the house, and information appeared on a blue screen. It was a list of requirements to improve the house to an average house, which would have some other amenities in addition to more space.

100 Logs

50 Stones

1 Door

The door could be created using the crafting section of the menu, it only needed 10 logs and would be a reinforced model, ensuring greater security and comfort for your home. Because it would keep the heat inside during the night, the windows had some kind of spell or something similar since. Even though they didn't have glass or anything that could stop the wind, it wouldn't come in through them.

With that, Theo now needed to raise the same amount of stones he currently had tomorrow to build the well and upgrade the house to a better version. This would be an improvement to his lifestyle and would also help him with his chances of surviving. The disaster that would happen 13 days from now had not yet been revealed by the mysterious voice that gave them the initial instructions, but from the name, it would not be good for the players.

Especially for the weakest or those who don't have a ready-made house, the houses might not be exactly comfortable, but they would keep out things like rain, wind, and cold if you managed to update them in time. That's why Theo decided that tomorrow he would put his new unit to work cutting trees with him and his skeleton warrior, so they could finish each tree much faster.
