Chapter 2 - My crazy lover

FLASHBACK

"Jubilee, I need to call that damn receptionist to get updates about my job," Hyacinth complained.

She dialed a number, and someone picked up on the other side.

"Yes," said the man from the other side.

"Can I speak to Miss Lizzy?" Hyacinth asked.

"Who's Lizzy?" the man replied.

Realizing that she had dialed the wrong number, Hyacinth quickly ended the call. She looked at the number she had dialed and realized that she had mixed up the digits, dialing a 9 instead of a 3.

"Oh, damn. I called someone else instead of her," Hyacinth muttered to herself, feeling a mixture of frustration and embarrassment.

However, little did Hyacinth know, this accidental phone call would lead her to a serendipitous encounter with the person she had been messaging with.

...

On the other side, the receiver of the phone was mesmerized by the voice of the girl he heard. He was truly touched by her soft tones and gentle demeanor. Nowadays, it seemed like most interactions between boys and girls were superficial, but this girl seemed different. Intrigued, he decided to make a call.

"Hey, I need to know everything about her," he said to the person on the other end.

...

FLASHBACK OVER

Hyacinth slowly opened her eyes, her attention drawn to the announcement made by the hostess. She quickly reached for her phone and decided to send him another text.

"I'm going to find you at the airport..." she typed, her fingers gliding across the screen.

Soon enough, a reply popped up on her phone. It was him, responding in a rather curt manner.

"I don't know if you'll find me or not, but I'll definitely see you," he wrote.

Undeterred by his response, Hyacinth typed back, determined to be positive. "We'll see," she sent.

With renewed determination, Hyacinth searched the entire airport, meticulously scanning each person's face. However, despite her efforts, she couldn't find him. Disappointed, she sighed, and at that moment, her phone beeped, indicating a new message.

"You cannot find me unless I want you to see me," the message read. "Take care. I'm already out of the airport. I hope you reach your apartment safely, without any mishaps Hya."

She smiled as she read the message and began typing a response. "You too take care, hope to meet you soon. Your 'hya' is waiting for that day." She knew he used that nickname for her because he knew her real name was Hyacinth.

Hyacinth's heart sank a little at the realization that she had missed the opportunity to meet him at the airport. However, she understood that some things were beyond her control. She decided to stay positive, determined to make the most of their upcoming meeting.

Upon reaching her apartment, she set her things down and decided to take a moment to rest. Just then, Jubilee walked into the room with a cup of coffee in hand. "Here's your coffee," Jubilee said.

"Thanks, J. I'm so tired," she replied gratefully.

Jubilee sat down on the bed with her laptop on her lap and teasingly said, "Yeah, tired enough to chat with your lover?"

She chuckled and said, "No, I'm just updating some pictures of my new apartment."

Jubilee raised an eyebrow and said, "To him?"

"No, it's not just about him. I have other people in there too," she replied.

Jubilee leaned back and asked, concerned, "I know you deny it, but are you doing the right thing?"

She smiled softly and said, "I am. After the death of my mother, he helped me a lot in getting back to normal. I owe him that much. He's like my second breath now."

Jubilee looked skeptical and asked, "Do you even know who he really is?"

She sighed and replied, "What I know is enough for me."

Curiosity got the better of Jubilee, who asked, "And what is that?"

"My crazy lover is completely unique compared to the people I know. He genuinely loves me. I trusted him when he informed me about my mother's passing. At first, I didn't believe him, but then someone came to my door and confirmed the news. I love how he adores and understands me so well. I don't know how he knows everything about me. He's a businessman, and he's told me almost everything about himself except his name. I'm not sure why, but I'm okay with not knowing. You know me, I don't get involved on my own. I tried to ignore him, but he even managed to find my phone number. He knows about you too. When I mentioned that I was going to the US, he said he's coming too. I feel empty when he doesn't reply to my texts. He helped me overcome the grief I was engulfed in after my mother's death. His words are genuine, and he is exactly what I needed. If he's just flirting, these kinds of flirtations don't last for a month. He's as important to me as breathing. After you, Jubilee, he is my closest friend... "she said and burst into tears.

"Come on, I didn't mean to make you sad. I was just curious..." Jubilee retorted.

'It's okay that you asked me...'

'Come on, wipe your face or I'll tell him that you're crying...' Jubilee replied and Hyacinth's phone beeped.

'Bad night... :)'

With that, she laughed. They were friends, but it was their habit to say the opposite of what they meant. Like saying 'bad day' for a good day, or 'bad morning' for a pleasant morning. Now, it was a 'bad night.'

'You too, bad night...'

Then she remembered.

'How was your meeting? You were supposed to seal the deal...' she asked.

He didn't reply instantly, but after a couple of minutes, he responded.

'Still in progress... I could easily get it. Trying hard...'

'Don't be sad... I know you can do it. By the way, where are you?' Hyacinth requested.

'I'm home... How are you? Did you guys settle in? By the way, you have a very cute apartment...'

Again, he knew this... Oh my, she needs to do something.
