Chapter 7 - Who is Mr D

Hyacinth heart soared with gratitude and relief. Though it was not coming from Mr. Schneider, it also meant a lot to her.

"I appreciate your kind words, sir," Hyacinth replied, trying to contain her excitement. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the team and assist in any way I can."

Mr. Douglas nodded, a small smile forming on his face. "Keep up the good work, Hyacinth. You have a bright future ahead of you."

...

It had been almost six months since Hyacinth had connected with Mr. D. She couldn't make him reveal his name, but all she knew was that it started with the letter D. She had tried many names, but none of them seemed to be correct. One night, she was feeling incredibly frustrated with Mr. Schneider because the fashion show was just a week away, and she would go home completely exhausted. She complained to Mr D, "I hate Mr. Schneider so much. He gives me so much work to do..."

"What...! I mean, why...?" questioned.

"I'm hating him..." she continued, expressing her frustration.

"You're lazy," he jeered.

"What?" Hyacinth gasped, dumbfounded.

"Are you calling me lazy?" she asked.

"I didn't say anything of such sort. I said you're pretty," he teased playfully.

Hyacinth used to talk to him every time she had a moment to herself. Jubilee was busy with both her studies and job, so she was happy that Hyacinth had someone to talk to openly.

Once Hyacinth opened her email, she found a very different type of message from Mr. D. It was a poem, and there was a line that touched her deeply. It read as follows:

"A gentle breeze stirs the petals of your heart,

In your presence, a work of art.

Through words and secrets, our connection begins,

With each conversation, a story within."

Hyacinth read the lines over and over again, feeling a mixture of curiosity and excitement. It was clear that Mr. D had a way with words, and his poetry revealed a side of him she hadn't seen before. It was a lovely surprise amidst the chaos of her demanding job.

She was crying, realizing how much he had given her. She owed him a lot, and perhaps she could never repay him for his kindness. He was the best thing that had ever happened to her.

"I wish you could always stay with me," she typed, tears streaming down her face.

"I too wish the same," he replied.

Unable to continue the conversation, she simply said, "Goodbye, I have to go. Goodnight." With that, she closed her laptop and lay in bed, reflecting on everything that had transpired since he entered her life. He had been like a miracle to her.

As Hyacinth lay in bed, reminiscing about the impact Mr. D had made on her life, a bittersweet mix of emotions washed over her. She couldn't help but feel both grateful for his presence and a tinge of sadness knowing that their time together may be limited.

But the connection they shared was undeniable. It was as if they were two souls destined to cross paths, even if only for a fleeting moment. Hyacinth felt a sense of belonging and comfort whenever they spoke, as if she had found a kindred spirit in Mr. D.

...

The time had passed so quickly that Hyacinth didn't realize it had been three months since she arrived in the Florida. Her life here was perfect - she had settled in well, her job as Mr. Mr Schneider secretary was going smoothly, and although she hadn't found Mr. D yet, she felt a connection with him. It was as if she was in love with someone she couldn't see, but she didn't mind. She eagerly awaited the day they would finally meet in person. However, one question lingered in her mind: why didn't he want her to see him? What could be the reason behind it?

Despite her numerous attempts to get an answer from him, he always made excuses or changed the topic. Sometimes, she wondered if he was just toying with her feelings, but the truth in his words made her dismiss such thoughts.

On a rainy night in the Florida, Hyacinth sat sipping her strawberry shake while surfing the internet. She had been working hard on her next assignment and had messaged Mr. D several times, but there was no reply. She thought he must be busy, but as the night crept on and it reached 2 a.m., still no response came. Negative thoughts started to cloud her mind. Why hadn't he replied? He always responded, no matter the time.

Frustrated, she closed her work and tried to sleep, but sleep eluded her.

She tossed and turned in bed, unable to shake off the gnawing worry that consumed her thoughts. Was something wrong? Did he no longer care about their connection? A sense of unease settled deep within her heart as she replayed their previous conversations in her mind. Their interactions had always been filled with warmth, kindness, and an underlying sense of affection. But now, the silence was deafening.

In the morning, before even climbing out of bed, Hyacinth checked her inbox eagerly, hoping to find a message from Mr. D . But to her disappointment, there was nothing there. Worry began to consume her thoughts as she started to fear that something terrible had happened to him. She said a silent prayer and texted him once again, desperately seeking a response. Yet, there was still no reply. How could he ignore her like this?

Arriving at the Mr Schneider office, Hyacinth found her boss's cabin empty, deepening her suspicion that something unexpected and unknown had occurred. She couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection between Mr. D's absence and her boss's sudden disappearance. Realizing she was overthinking things, she shook her head, dismissing the unfounded thoughts, and focused on her work.

"Who is Mr D? Is he someone I know? " She pondered not able to get any answer.
