A girl strolled along the shore, lost in deep thoughts as her hair brushed against her face. The sweet melodies of birds and the gentle spray of water augmented her love for nature. Suddenly, her friend's call snapped her back to reality.
"Hyacinth,"
She turned around, her long brown hair dancing in the wind as she shielded her eyes to see her friend. She managed to push her locks away.
"Yes?" she replied.
"Come on, we need to catch a flight to Florida. What are you thinking?" her friend asked, sounding slightly annoyed.
"Yeah, I'm coming. I'm just cherishing the last moments of this place..." she spoke, tears hidden from her face. She missed her parents immensely, but ever since their passing, her closest friend Jubilee had been by her side. Jubilee was an orphan too, and they had decided to start a new life in the United States.
"Come on, Hya. We need to go," Jubilee urged.
They headed towards the airport, embarking on their journey. The flight was long, and Jubilee fell asleep while Jubilee busied herself with her phone.
"Where are you?" she typed on her phone, smiling.
"A surprise," he replied.
"Please tell me," she urged.
"Okay, I'm currently on the same plane as you," he messaged back.
"What?" she gasped and started looking around.
"You won't be able to see me," he messaged, and she pouted.
"But I really want to see you," she commented.
"Soon, Hyacinth," he typed.
"When?" she asked.
"Very soon," he responded.
"Very soon," he responded with a hint of mystery in his message.
Hyacinth's curiosity peaked even further. She couldn't help but wonder who this person was and why they were going through such lengths to surprise her. The anticipation was building, and she found it difficult to contain her excitement.
As the plane continued its course through the clouds, Hyacinth's mind drifted off into a flurry of possibilities. What could this surprise be? A bouquet of her favorite flowers? A heartfelt confession of love? Or perhaps something completely unexpected that would leave her speechless?
Jubilee woke up and noticed Hyacinth's activity.
"Oh, not again, Hya..." she sighed.
"What?" Hyacinth asked.
"You're talking to him again?" Jubilee inquired, astonished.
"Jubilee, forget about it. You know he's coming to the US too, right?" Hyacinth revealed.
"What?! Is he crazy?" Jubilee exclaimed with surprise.
"And guess what? He's on this flight with us. He can see me, but I can't see him..." Hyacinth said, frustrated.
"God, I don't know what you two are doing," Jubilee commented, confused.
"I need to find him. I can't miss this chance. He knows everything about me, but I don't know anything... I'm going to see him," Hyacinth declared, getting up from her seat and moving towards the back of the plane. The flight attendant noticed her.
"Ma'am, do you need anything?" the flight attendant asked.
"No, I'm going to the bathroom..." Hyacinth responded, heading towards the restroom with her phone. It beeped again.
"Nice excuse... the bathroom? You were trying to find me?" the message read.
"No," Hyacinth typed, frustrated.
"Ugh... I just want to see him once. Who the hell is he?" she muttered, returning to her seat, scanning each and every person but unable to identify him.
Her phone beeped again, interrupting her search for a glimpse of him.
"You look gorgeous in the white top and blue jeans," the message read.
"Aww..." Hyacinth couldn't help but let out a mix of annoyance and amusement at this seemingly crazy person's comments.
"Once I reach the airport, I'll find you," she replied reluctantly.
"Really? So, you're eager to meet me?" came the response.
"No, I just want to see you," Hyacinth clarified, feeling a bit exasperated.
"Enjoy the flight," the message ended.
"You too..." Hyacinth mumbled as she logged out of her account, desperately needing some sleep.
She tried to get comfortable in her seat, closing her eyes and hoping to find solace in the embrace of sleep. Yet, her mind was filled with curiosity, longing to uncover the identity of this person who seemed to know so much about her.
As the flight continued its journey towards Florida, Hyacinth's thoughts merged with dreams, blurring the thin line between reality and imagination. In her dreams, faces floated by, but none belonging to the mysterious person who had captured her attention.
Hours passed, and Hyacinth's exhaustion finally triumphed over her restlessness, luring her into a deep slumber where nothing but darkness enveloped her senses.
...
She opened her eyes, and the first thing she did was check her online messages. To her delight, there was a new message waiting for her. "You look like an angel when you sleep," it read.
A smile played on Hyacinth 's lips as she recognized the message as being from the person she had been messaging with. She quickly typed a response, her fingers dancing across the screen.
"Thank you! How do you know what I look like when I'm sleeping?" she playfully replied.
The response came almost instantly. "I have my ways," the mysterious person replied, adding a winking face emoji at the end.
Hyacinth's curiosity grew, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and excitement at the thought of this person taking notice of even the smallest details about her. It made the connection feel more real, more intimate.
She glanced around the airport, searching for any sign of the person who had sent her the message. Would they approach her right away, or would they wait for the right moment? Hyacinth couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation that had been building up ever since she got on that plane.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed again, interrupting her thoughts. Another message had appeared.
"You don't need to try to look good because you look good in everything."
She blushed and looked around, noticing that most people were sleeping since it was nighttime. She hurriedly asked Jubilee.
"Jubilee, did you see someone passing by here?" Hyacinth questioned.
"No, I didn't see anyone. You know I was sleeping too," Jubilee replied.
"What happened? Did he message you again?" Jubilee continued.
"Yeah," Hyacinth replied sheepishly.
"You and your crazy lover," Jubilee teased.
She closed her eyes and started thinking about how she had met this stranger.
