Jake finally got a glimpse of his prey, the Rage Chicken.
Apparently, they taste delicious but are very problematic to capture. They are also impossible to rise, as they would only come to exist in the regions where Rage Roots are known to grow.
The people of Yaros tried to domesticate them but all the eggs that hatched birthed only normal chickens rather than rage chickens. They theorized that rage chickens would only exist if rage roots were present in the area.
Then they changed their strategy and tried to cultivate those herbs but failed to do so. For reasons unknown, these roots only grew well in wilds. So rage chickens and rage roots can only be harvested in the wilds and they sold well.
They tasted so damn well that demand for the increased and so they were hunted way too much. To make sure they won't die out, a few nations tried domestication but failed in the end. So they came up with the policy of hunting to be done in certain months of the year.
To kill or to sell them outside this time frame is illegal and will be fined accordingly.
Fortunately for Jake, the hunting season is still on.
As these creatures are useful for beginners, the season for the hunt is decided for the months after the awakening happens.
Indeed, the entirety of Tarro thought Yaros, the survival world to be a game, was an actual world. They too possess the same leveling system as them. The slight advantage of Tarro is that they wouldn't die permanently on Yaros but would on Tarro.
The people of Tarro didn't understand but then remembered that the voice never identified the world they were entering as a game. Moreover, it said that they have to find out information about things they want to know.
Since then, Tarro awakeners became less aggressive and started to make agreements with local kingdoms. They found New Bastion and various cities as their operating locations and wouldn't bother much with local people.

Jake pulled out his short sword and approached the chicken step by step, trying to be as stealthy as possible.
From what he learned, these are very low in strength or any attribute if compared to him but the problem is that they sometimes roam in flocks.
If they all attack him at the same time, it would be disastrous.
He was lucky that he didn't hunt the first three days as many chickens were already hunted. The adventurers of Tarro can't taste them but they are very useful to sell to people of Yaros.
Jake can be considered lucky and unlucky here. As most are already hunted, the chances of facing a flock are less but it is still there. If he faces a flock, there are none to help him in the region.
Most adventurers moved on to the next regions for hunting, most likely to dungeons where monsters can re-spawn after a certain time when they are killed.
Jake almost approached the chicken, but just as he came near, his bad luck struck. He placed his leg on a twig which snapped under his weight making a sound.
The chicken got spoked and looked around to find Jake near it, with a sword in his hand.
Screeh! Screeh!
"Damn it", he cursed.
The chicken rushed to him, flapping his wings to increase its speed.
Both the chicken and Jake slashed at each other at the same time.
Scratch!

They both scratched and slashed at each other with their claws at one and his short sword on the other end.

It even used its skill to get an advantage over Jake but with his high physical attributes, it couldn't cause much damage to him.
They fought like that for less than a minute before the chicken fell lifeless.
As it fell it turned into items, like game loot, and the main reason why everyone assumed this to be a game. They also got a personal inventory to place the loot but these two features didn't extend to Tarro.
On Tarro, they had to follow the same rules as the people of Yaros followed in their world that is to butcher the monster to collect the valuable parts.
After the chicken died, Jake collected the loot.
Rage Chicken Meat X 1
Rage Chicken Claws X 1
After collecting the loot, Jake saw why the chicken was there alone.
Rage Roots.
There are a bunch of Rage Roots located here and this greedy chicken tried to hog all of them for itself, which caused its quick death. If it had brought its flock with it, Jake wouldn't had the courage to attack them.
As it was alone, he chose to attack and won in the end.
If the flock was here, they could have avenged it by hurting and killing its killer. It died because it didn't share and now all its loot became Jake's loot.
Jake immediately crotched down and started to pluck the roots from the ground. He plundered all the roots within a few seconds.
Rage Roots X 15
Though he got a good amount of roots, he still had to hunt a few more chickens before he could return to New Bastion.
He prayed for a few more dumb chickens that strayed from their flock to appear, as he continued his search.
Jake is not dumb to think that he is now invinsible after quickly killing a single Rage Chicken. Though he wouldn't die here, he already wasted a lot of time and there are only four days before the exam.
At this time, dying means, the chances of entering a decent academy would lower as many see the levels of the students at the time of examination as the criteria to recruit them into their academies.
If he had S-Class or above profession, then there was no need to think or worry about anything. He would have been directly recuited by the academies.
The problem was his original was only A-class and that's what recorded in his file. Though his class improved, the new one is not a grade that can be told to anyone. So he has to act like his profession is still A-class.
SInce he is A-class, he need to gain certain levels in order to qualify to enter a decent academy.
If he dies and lose time, he would lag behind, which is something he can't accept. So he is cautious as ever.
