Chereads / Hunter of Artemis / Chapter 17 - Passive Skill obtained (Revised!)

Chapter 17 - Passive Skill obtained (Revised!)

Jake exited New Bastion, after obtaining the missions for today. After three days of work, his rank has already reached E-rank, which means he could take either missions belonging to E-rank or D-rank.

As he had already wasted a lot of time, he wanted to level up faster and so he took two D-rank missions. The missions he took were for hunting Fire Goblins, and Fire Gremlins.

The reason he took those two is because they are usually found in the same area and that too in a area where the power of fire is very high like volcanoes. It was a matter of convenience for him to choose them.

Moreover, Goblins and Gremlins, though different races, act similarly and has similar skills which would make it easier to find their weakness and eliminate them faster.

If they have different weakness, then it would be a problem. Though that may not be impossible, it would be rather difficult to get rid of them easily. This saves him a lot of time, not wasting time on searching for what to do against them.

He quickly went out for a hunt. Unlike the days before, he is not going to hold himself. The exam was over and whatever he gains would be private and no one would know, unless they have [Analysis] or items that have those skills to check other people's status.

The chances of meeting such people is low and even if that happens, unless given cause to check his status, no one would actively do so.

Checking someone else's status would alert them. There was no way to check secretly. So normaly these types of checks happen during tournaments, where almost everyone is using something to check the details of others.

As there is nothing to fear and need to hide, Jake decided that he is going to hunt until he was satisfied.

The hunter who is going to shake two worlds has finally begun his hunt.

---

Jake returned to the city carrying his latest hunt. For the past three days, he has been hunting non-stop. He only took the required time off for sleep and for other necessities. Otherwise, every minute was spent solely on increasing his level.

In just three days, he gained another five levels. Unlike before, this is a tremendous achievement as the experience needed for one to gain a level increases exponentially as one goes up.

Most of the time, he got attributes but he got a few skills too, including a passive one.

For gaining five levels, he got +5 in total to all attributes. In addition to that, he gained a lot of attributes, even Intelligence which would the first time. This was because there were fire mages among the goblins and gremlins.

From what he absorbed was that, the attribute that he would gain depends on best attribute of the enemy.

For some reason, Jake got rounded figures by the time he reached level 10 but he was more than satisfied with the result.

This was because he got a passive skill.

A single passive one outweighs two or more active ones. Its biggest advantage is that it doesn't need to be activated manually and it doesn't burn Energy Points, which is a huge bonus. The only problem would be that passive skills are usually defence or buff skills.

They don't attack directly but can be used to protect oneself or increase the attack power.

No matter what, with Fire Resistance, Jake could now fight easily against fire-based monsters and can easily dive into fire regions or dungeons without feeling the fear of dying due to the environment there.

Yes, this is not a game where the envirnoment effects were nullified but a real world. In cold areas, you can get cold and coughs and even causes debuff in movement.

In hotter areas, you get fire burns and heath would deteoriate.

Now that he has no reason to fear fire regions that much, Jake can easily overwhelm monsters that depend on fire as the basis for their attacks. If they are a level below him or equal to him, he doesn't need to care about their attacks as they would do not much damage.

Even if the monster attacks have higher power, the injuries that he might get would be less severe than before he had the fire resistance. Of course, he is not a moron to stand there like a dummy and get him. He would dodge them as much as he can.

The scenario of him getting him was when he couldn't move because of something restraining him.

Once Jake reached New Bastion, he submitted the quests and sold the items that have nothing to do with the quest. After that he exited the survival world.

After this he would only return after a few days.

The results would come out the next day and he would be busy applying for academies based on the results and the criteria of admission. It would be like hell or atleast that is what Jake believes so.

In order to face the next day in a good mental state, he retired to his bed early.
