For three days, Jake continued his hunt. He used full use of his short sword these days. Though he could use a bow and arrows, which he gave higher chances of winning because of his Innate Skill and Unique Skill, he used only the short sword.
The reason for this was the cost.
Arrows are physical items and when launched at beasts, they would try to stop them. Even if they hit the targets, they would most likely be destroyed in the ensuring battle.
So it is common to say that once arrows are used in a hunt, they are most likely destroyed. Normaly undamged ones are retreived only after the battle ends. The problem was that the common-grade arrows, which he had access to and buy with the little amount of coins he has would be broken by the time the battle ends, unless it was a one shot death.
Even though common-grade arrows are cheaper, it would cost him a lot of money so many and it was a cost that he can't afford at this point of time. It was something he can do once he gain a few more coins to afford them.
So Jake decided to use the short sword for now, which also broke after using it for three days but he earned enough to buy an uncommon short sword, without emptying his wallet completely.
The gains from the hunts are not just the merit points or coins or leveling up by completing quests. No, teh true gains were gaining some attribute points and skills that he got from his prey because of the blessing.
In these three days, excluding his rage chicken hunt, he gained a total of 35 Stamina points, 30 Strength points, and 27 Speed points.
In addition to them, he gained Stone Skin, Hard Claw Slash, Hard Claw Block, and Earth Sense skills.
He only gained a total of only five skills in three days but it is more than enough for him. No one from his year would even have a single skill. Even if they are from rich families, the most they could buy are one or two skills as they cost a lot.
Jake gained Earth Sense and Stone Skin from Earth Hard Boar, Hard Claw Slash, and Hard Claw Block from Hard Earth Bear. While the skills from the boar are useful, the ones from the bear aren't useful for now as he doesn't have any claws.
When Jake heard the names of the two monsters, he wondered if the name-givers were just lazy.
He understood the reason why they are named the way they are when he saw them in person. They have many similarities between them.
As the boars and bears are hard tohunt, it took a lot of time to hunt them, making him hunt lesser than what Jake actually though he would. Though that was the case, Jake was able to level up four more times, making him a level 5 Huntsman.

The biggest gain for Jake is his health points. He now possesses higher health comparable to levels above him, which gives him a chance to fight against enemies for longer periods, even if he gets injuries.
"Hmm, why don't all the skills I have gained from hunt doesn't have a rank or level? Is it because they aren't obtained in the usual way or is there another reason behind this?" Jake wondered.
He couldn't think of a true reason for that, and so he threw that into the "look for an answer in the future" box.
He decided to take a rest and review what he learned for the theory exams. They may seem as not important but they are important unless you are S-class or above awakener. Even if they fail, they could enter a good academy.
If they pass, they can even enter excellent academies. Ofcourse if the profession was a rare or unique one, then the academies would forgo such formalities and directly recruit the students.
This examination is only a problem for the students who don't have such qualifications and according to records Jake is one such person.
Though Jake has a profession with a higher class rating, the recorded one was A-class and Jake wants to keep it that way. Attracting too much attention would be bad for him, atleast until he has the power to say or do something that others won't ignore.
To obtain such power, the best path would be to obtain knowledge first. Knowledge is important and to gain such knowledge, academies are the access points. Only by gaining entrance into the best academies, does Jake has a chance to improve himself tremendously.
Jake could improve himself indepently but that is ill-advised. This was because without proper knowledge on how to improve, the foundation would be shaky and would have to face problems in the future.
It is the only reason why he is taking the exams seriously. He needed to be on the top, as his target was not the best academies but the best one there was Kernal's Guardian Academy.
Even if the chances of entering that academy is very low, his target remained same. He did so that, he work diligently to obatin that. Even if he fails to do so, he was sure that with such hard work, he could gain entrance to a decent academy at the least.
