Chapter 10 - The First Hunt (1)

Jake went straight towards the mission hall as soon as he entered New Bastion. For three days he trained his new body and mind co-ordination. He felt it was enough and was ready to hunt to level up.

As soon as he entered the mission hall, he straight up went to the reception.

The process of mission hall is simple. Any awakener could register themselves as an adventurer here. Once registered, they would be given the lowest rank and a weapon to go.

When one enters Yaros, they wouldn't have any external means of help except their own mind and body. This caused many problems for the first awakeners. They couldn't properly hunt to earn coins. They had to scrap by. Save every coin they could.

Luckily for the youngsters who came much later, things were stabilized. The common-grade weapons in the training hall are provided by New Bastion free of cost. These can be used to practice but not allowed to take them out.

The way to get a weapon is to register at the mission hall as an adventurer, where you would get a beginner weapon of your choice. These things are all taught in schools, so new awakeners would have an easier path than the old generations.

"Hello, I would like to register please", Jake spoke as soon as he neared the reception.

The young man who was stationed at the counter looked at Jake before he took out a form for him to fill out.

"Please fill out this form and your card will be issued", the young man said. Though he had questions about why the boy waited three days to register, he didn't ask them as it would be considered rude.

Jake took the form and filled in the details in a second as there weren't many details to be filled.

Basically, you have to fill in your character name, class awakened, and weapon of choice. There is no more need for details as in this world, death isn't permanent for them, unlike the Adventurer's Guild or the Hunter's Guild back in Tarro.

There one needs to fill in much more precise details such as next of kin, contact details, etc...

As soon as Jake filled in the details, he returned it to the receptionist. The young man recorded the details in a book and then printed them onto a card before handing the card over.

"White Falcon,...that's a nice name. I suppose you should know the way things work here right?" the young man asked as he handed the card.

Jake nodded.

"Then pick up a mission available for F-Rank adventurers. Even though you won't die here permanently, there is a penalty. So it is better to not die as it would waste a lot of time for you".

Jake nodded again.

"Go pick a mission and return here to register the mission. I'll go pick up the common grade short sword for you", the young man said as he left his counter.

Jake went to the mission board to look for a mission that he could do.

There are many missions listed on the mission board but most of them are higher than his rank.

Though the adventurers can take missions way above their rank, the hall tries to dissuade them. If allowed they may continue this trait back on Tarro, which could cause their deaths.

As an F-rank adventurer, he can pick F-rank and E-rank missions.

To reach E-Rank, he has to complete twenty F-Rank or ten E-Rank missions. He contemplated a few seconds before deciding to do two E-Rank missions.

One is to hunt Rage Chickens and the other is to collect Rage Roots. He selected these two as they are in the same area. After selecting the two he went to the same counter and registered them.

The young man registered the two missions and gave Jake a common-grade short sword. Jake took the sword and left the hall to hunt.

He is already three days late and there is a chance that the number of Rage Chickens and Rage Roots have diminished. He has to make sure he doesn't waste time as time may be required to find them.

Jake immediately left New Bastion towards West Lake, where Rage Roots are known to grow and the place where Rage Chickens rule. Rage Roots are the reason those chickens are called Rage Chickens. These aren't the only creatures affected but these chickens rule the land near the west lake.

There are also water creatures in the lake that carry Rage in their names but they are a bit difficult to handle and their domain would be only the lake. They won't bother anyone as long as no one enters the lake.

The reason they have Rage in their name is that these creatures would possess a skill that depends on Rage, which makes these creatures very dangerous even when they are at low levels.

The Rage Roots are useful to make Rage Potions which Berserker Class awakeners use a lot. Other Physical Combat classes also use them but not as much.

Jake reached the area, where they were supposed to live. He thought that it would take some time as many would have hunted in the first three days but luck seemed to be on his side.

"There it is", Jake mumbled as soon as he got a glimpse of his prey.

[A/N: I wrote the details for readers. Unless an awakener possesses a skill like Scan, or Analyse, or something like that... or a device that does the same, they can't see the details. If you compare these with MC's, he has higher base points because of the blessing.]
