Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Black raven

Wanting to check on Elizabeth and how she was doing, Anna slowly opened the door to see the governess whispering something in her ears.

Upon hearing the sound of the door open, the woman snapped her head to see Anna standing there.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" The woman adjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose.

"My name is Anna and I am a maid working in this Mansion." She introduced herself. "I came to check up on Elizabeth to see if she's doing well."

"And who told you she's sick?" The woman asked with annoyance.

"I.... Uhm.... I heard from her brother about her mental illness. I came to—"

"Get out!" The woman yelled.

"What?" Anna took a step forward, not understanding what the woman meant.

"I said get out!" She yelled. "Your services are not needed here."

Her eyes moved to Elizabeth who was laying on the bed, shivering. Her whole body was drenched with sweat and she looked like she had overworked her body the previous night.

"But she's clearly not fine. We need to call the doctor. I should—"

"I don't think you understand simple instructions, do you?" She asked.

"I don't what you are talking about. She is sick. What have you done to her?" Anna asked.

"Leave before I call Madam Charlotte on you." The woman warned.

"She would be unhappy to see that her daughter is suffering in your hands." Anna didn't like the way the woman was treating Elizabeth.

"I do not have free time to chit chat with a low life person like you." The woman retorted. "Leave!"

"I don't know if you understand the meaning of your job. You are a governess and your job is to teach the young girl and not to make her fall sick." Anna said in a calm voice so she won't anger the woman but the woman was already angered by her presence.

All of a sudden, Elizabeth fell down from her bed. Anna moved forward trying to help her when the woman pushed her.

"Leave before I call someone on you!" The woman yelled.

"I'm not leaving this room until I know what you did to Elizabeth. What have you done to her?" Anna's eyes widened to see the girl turning pale as she lay on the ground. Her hair was falling out and her skin was turning dry.

"What have you done?!" Anna shouted with hot rage.

The woman looked furious for the interruption of Anna while she was tending to Elizabeth. She raised her hand to smack the girl which Anna weighed on it with both hands.

In that moment, Anna forgot on hiding her true identity and she used both her hands to push the woman's hand from landing on her. She didn't care about losing her job right now. But unfortunately for Anna, she didn't know that the woman she was fighting with was a pure demon.

Anna's face was coated with blue thick lines as she stomped forward ready to attack the woman when the door suddenly opened.

Madam Charlotte rushed to Anna and stopped her from doing anything stupid.

"What do you think you are trying to do?" Charlotte asked.

Anna regained herself back and she rubbed her eyes. "I.... I I'm sorry."

She quickly opened the door and walked out of the room. What was wrong with her? She could have exposed herself all of a sudden if Madam Charlotte didn't open the door.

She went into the bathroom and held the edge of the sink firmly. Her body was burning with intense heat and she didn't know what was happening to her lately. Turning the faucet, she sprinkled cold water on her face.

She breathed deeply and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Once her body was back to normal, she left the room.

.....

Turning to the governess, Charlotte asked. " Helen, are you sure she didn't see anything?"

"Yes, she didn't." Helen nodded her head. "You should warn her, I did not like the way she attacked me."

"I would warn her." Charlotte assured her. "But how is Elizabeth? Is there any progress?"

"I'm afraid but she might not get to see any of her family members for now to avoid the spirits from entering into another vessel. Not even the maids should come in. I would be spending more time with her, to see any improvement." Helen said.

"I would do as you have said." She turned to Elizabeth whose eyes has started to fade out. There was thick black veins underneath her eyes.

"Have she been fed?" Charlotte asked.

"No. During this time, we would avoid feeding her." Helen said and watched Charlotte go outside. She locked the door and the smile on her face fell, replacing it with a deep frown.

Meanwhile, Anna who was still walking through the corridor, caught sight of a black raven sitting at the rails of the staircase. The raven had it's eyes fixed on her and an unsettling feeling, formed inside her.
