Nevertheless, they still backed each other up in battles, but Kai wouldn't hang out with Miles. Nor would he call him his friend or foe.
"Miles's Coven are the ones who said they found Headmaster Matt and his wife," Mr. Collin replied.
"Why don't you send Evan?" Kai opposed to going. "His dad is the one who made allies with the Elrod Coven."
"Because I am sending you!" Mr. Collin challenged, rumbling a throaty snicker. "You want control over the army, then speak with Miles, and it's yours."
"Fine, I'll talk to him," Kai huffed, annoyed at the idea. "Just so you're aware, Headmaster Connor and Headmaster Zander requested for Vlad to be reawakened."
"You already know I cannot grant that request. You're on your own to find your grandfather," Mr. Collin affirmed.
"I'll find Vlad myself," Kai proclaimed as he turned to leave. "I'll be at Miles after I take a shower."
Before he could walk away, he heard his dad say, "Talk with your wife before you leave. She's been heartbroken."
"I can't see her right now," Kai muttered, halting dead in his heavy tread.
"Why not?" his dad questioned him. "What Bella did is not Victoria's fault."
Kai turned around, snarling. "I never said it was! I can't see her because this is my fault. She still loves Orlando because I failed to raise her."
"Kai, you know that will change once she's a vampiress," Mr. Collin frowned.
To his surprise, Kai sought for a breath, cooling his temperament. Lately, he had been restraining his unbridled rage. Nearly everybody knew Kai could stand very intemperate when it came to the topics of Victoria or Vlad, and his unchecked behavior can lead to imprudent actions, which is why they had to make sure Victoria wasn't mistakenly harmed by him.
"I'll talk with her shortly," Kai claimed before he disappeared.

After tiptoeing inside his closet to collect his clothes, he sneaks out of his bedroom while his wife is relaxing in the jacuzzi. Since Rome has been nagging him too much lately about Victoria, he heads to Jack's bedroom along the corridor. But before he can reach his door, Chester pops in and eyes him weirdly, noticing that he is all glittery.
"Did you lose a fight with Tinkerbell?" Chester couldn't stop himself from teasing his little brother.
"Who is Tinkerbell?" Kai furrowed his brows in obvious perplexity, and all Chester could do was laugh.
"With having a baby vampiress on the way, you need to catch up to date with what little girls like," Chester advised, shaking his head as he chuckled.
"I'll take note of it," Kai declared, being dead serious, which only made Chester laugh louder. He was only partly teasing him.
As Kai twisted the doorknob, he overheard Chester asking him, "Are you ok? Dad told me Matt attacked you."
"I'm good."
"What about Victoria?" Chester sincerely asked, knowing his brother was in heartache, but Kai didn't answer. Instead, he walked into Jack's bedroom to wait for his turn to get a shower. Chester doesn't take it to heart because he understands his misery.
After a shower, he found Jack pacing back and forth. "I think you're leaving a trail on your carpet," Kai teased, emerging from the bathroom.
"You wouldn't believe where Sharlene is at!" Jack ranted when he stopped pacing.
"She's at Miles." Kai guessed correctly. Otherwise, Jack wouldn't be acting the way he is.
"Yes, with her ex-boyfriend!" Jack growled in pure covetousness. "She has nothing to do with me, but she'll go flying over to Miles's place to be with him!"
"You assume she's with Declan when you know she has friends over there," Kai pointed out, rubbing his temples. Now, he was starting to understand what he put his father through during his contumacious tantrums.
A lot of their vampiresses hung out at Miles, including Rose and Mia. Miles was a jerk to them, but his Coven never harmed their females or offspring. In this aspect, he was trustworthy. When it came to the vampires and vampiresses dating each other, no one meddled with that. Sharlene's ex-boyfriend may have played with her heart, but Declan never physically harmed her. If he had, Miles would have dealt with him.
"She loves him!" Jack's vocals fulminated much louder. "She'll get back together with him! I know it!"
"She's not stupid enough to get back with him," Kai affirmed, attempting to calm him.
"Why don't you try having your wife be around the one she loves, and then tell me otherwise!" Jack snapped without thinking, and Kai only stared at him with an unreadable face.
"I'm sorry!" Jack immediately cowered. "I didn't mean that."
He instantly felt foolish for saying what he said to his best friend since Victoria ran back to Orlando countless times before she knew the truth. Those words were a vacuous choice of usage, and Jack instantly regretted it.
"It's fine." Kai brushed it off. "You need to get ahold of yourself. That sacred mark is getting to your head."
With that being settled, he left as Jack cautiously followed behind him. However, Jack was surprised he didn't get a fist in his face for saying that to his Alpha. When Kai first woke up, everyone was walking on eggshells with him because he snapped at the littlest things. But now, Jack noticed the old Kai was coming around, which made him glad.

With some guardians, Kai and his advisors made it to Miles's mansion. Once the doorbell rang, his butler opened the door, and then his eyes gaped to see who it is.
"Miles!" he shouted for his friend and Alpha.
"What!" Miles calls back, arriving there before his eyes widen next. "How the heck did you guys get past my guardians without me knowing?" He popped his head outside in the darkness, seeing everyone stationed where they should be through the trees and at the gate.
"You have crappy security. I'd fire your friends and replace them with new guardians," Kai mocked, grinning to his ears.
He took pride in saying this since they didn't even catch their scent. But Kai left out the part where he had a few vampiresses distracting his guardians after they ran into some of the females from their Coven. Kai and his cousin Evan never missed an opportunity to mess with Miles. Between the wars, they still found time to have fun and mess around.
"Whatever, I know you did something to distract them," Miles rolled his eyes. He was onto him.
"Think whatever you want," Kai inwardly grinned, admitting nothing nor expressing anything readable on his face.
"I assume you're here on important matters," Miles concluded, welcoming them in.
"Unfortunately," Kai curtly answered.
