Outside in the gelid frosted temperatures, Evan exited the bar, guiding a disoriented woman by her wrist behind him.
"It's so cold," she whimpered as her high-heeled boots stumbled over each other due to her tipsiness.
"Don't worry, baby doll, I'll keep you warm," his sexy utterance purred near her right ear as he pressed her against the brick wall of a building.
"Mhmm...ah," she moaned, emitting a breathless groan the second he kissed below her earlobe.
Through his thick leather jacket, her fingernails dug deep into his shoulders. Puffs of their warm breath mixed with the stale chilly atmosphere as their breathing heavily increased. His kisses traced alongside her neck, tenderly curving to her collarbone while she groaned the whole time. Soon, his laborious kissing nibbled to her chest until he eventually descended to her cleavage. One button at a time, his teeth skillfully unclasped the buttons to her shirt. Goosebumps emerged, prickling her skin as her blue-laced cupped bra was slowly revealed to the cold air. Undeterred by the chill, Evan crouched lower, continuing to undo every button with his mouth until her entire stomach is exposed. Trembling against the brick, she forgot about the chilliness as Evan licked and kissed below her belly button. As his mouth was about to undo the button on her jeans, a distinct scent captured his awareness.
"You have over a thousand offspring, and yet, you still haven't learned to keep your pants on." Kai's voice echoed, causing Evan to twist his neck to the right.
Smirking, Evan rose from his knees, towering his height over the lady he seduced. Phantom-like footsteps prowled steadily from the darkest shadows between the buildings.
Heaving between her breaths, the young woman nervously peered in the same direction as Evan, reacting to the sounds of these approaching footsteps. To her stark horror, she saw no one until a tall shadow embellished with a capturing rutilant glow of crimson eyes crept toward them. As she prepared to scream, Evan swiftly covered her mouth, shutting her up. Kai materialized out of a shroud of darkness as an eerie glow cast from his red orbs.
"Shh, I promise this won't hurt," Evan seductively whispered into her ear, and then his sharp fangs grazed her skin like a feather upon her neck.
Her nails grasped his shoulders once his fangs pierced into the left side of her neck, seeping numbing venom into her veins. As promised, other than feeling a prick similar to a thorn, it didn't hurt. Yet, she comprehended something wasn't right because she felt weaker by the second as he drank in her blood. And then suddenly, what went from feeling painless was all but gone when another pair of sharp fangs bit her on the right side of her neck. In sheer agony, she screeched a breathless cry as she found herself unable to breathe as Evan and Kai consumed her warm blood down their throats. With a floppy thud, they plopped her lifeless body to the pavement for one of Evan's minions to collect her.
"You always have to ruin my fun," Evan whined with a smirk as he walked back into the bar.
Not too far from behind him, Kai followed him in. Music blasted in their faces once they entered.
"For someone who didn't fall for Savannah's seductive spell. I find it odd that you constantly hunger for attention from any females, even if they're pathetic humans," Kai chuckled, yet he was sure to whisper that last part to avoid these humans from overhearing him. However, the bass blasted so loud that no man or woman wouldn't be able to hear them.
The whole place was packed with people. Some groups of people took turns singing karaoke, while others were either dancing or mingling with a drink at hand. Humans weren't the only ones in the area. Kai mentally noted this as he followed his cousin to the bar. Tons of vampires and vampiresses were sitting around or dancing to enjoy themselves as well.
Once Evan got comfortable on the barstool with Kai sitting next to him on his right, he whispered. "This is coming from someone who has a human mat—"
Evan bites his tongue as he smirks whenever Kai punctures three thick claws into his upper leg. Blood seeped into his black jeans as Evan patiently waited for Kai to extract his claws from his leg.
"Watch it," Kai warned while his tone remained frolicsome from his bantering as he pulled his claws out. "She's the only one I've been with."
"That's not what I heard," Evan chuckled, snapping his fingers to a bartender. "One whisky," he ordered.
He would've requested his crazy cousin a glass of blood since Kai's diet only consisted of human blood or animals, but the karaoke bar didn't serve blood. With the business owned by a businessman instead of a vampire, there were limited choices for their Kind.
"If you're referring to the time I kissed a woman to make Victoria jealous, then you should know I barely made any moves to kiss her back," Kai grumbled as he justified his erroneous actions that he would never make again in his lifetime. Other than Victoria, he's never found human females attractive.
Evan chuckled as the man served him his drink, "I knew that."
"Then why do you keep making the same mistakes when you love Tilly?" Kai earnestly questioned him.
"Because Tilly doesn't desire me," Evan confessed. "So I surround myself with brainless females to make the pain go away so I can move on. Yet, no matter who I sleep with, it never makes the pain go away, nor will my heart move on. Tilly isn't my mate because I don't have one, but the love I have for her is the same kinda love mates share for each other."
Before Evan sipped on his glass, Kai whispered, "I understand how you feel, but your tactic to cope with it won't ever work."
"I know, but..." Evan sighed. "Enough of this sentimental crap, what brings you to me?" He was sure to ask since this was the first time Kai sought his presence. Hence, he was done talking about his emotional pain, and Kai understood that completely.
"Don't flatter yourself," Kai playfully shot his ego down, making Evan laugh before he spoke in a hushed tone. "Matt attacked me, so I can't travel through any more worlds. I overheard you know a place where my wife would be safe." His tone of voice was so faint on that last part that it was quieter than a mouse to avoid the other vampires from listening in.
"I do, but I can't tell you here. You'll have to come back home with me," Evan faintly murmured, bringing the glass to his lips.
"Let's leave as soon as you are done," Kai declared, and Evan agreed with a gesture as he drank the contents down.
