"Other than all the animals, this place is nice," Kai complimented, though Evan detected his acerbic tone.
"Animals add a homey touch," Evan laughed at Kai's sarky remark. "I've overheard that you share a room with a cat. And don't forget, you'll have to make a barn stall for the horses you bought Victoria after you build yourself a mansion someday."
"Don't remind me." Kai rolled his eyes. Secretly, he'd never admit that his wife's cat was growing on him, and her horses didn't bug him. "Anyhow, where is this safe place you claim you have?" Kai curtly asked.
Evan instructed, chuckling, "Come over to the long window."
They walked across the room as Tilly tidied up the bar area.
"Do you have a point to this?" Kai questioned, going up to the window. He was beginning to wonder if Evan was up to something stupid.
"Just trust him," Tilly giggled before she left with a few glass items in her arms.
"Just look out there," Evan directed, and Kai stared out the window, utterly confused.
"Out where?" Kai questioned again, unable to see anything past the snowman.
It was an eyesore because it wore a pink shell bikini top with red apples stuffed down the cups, and the red-haired wig didn't help its appearance, nor did the perky red plastic kissy lips do it any favors. Overall, it looked like a cold mess that needs put out of its misery.
"All I see is a snowman that I believe is supposed to be a snowwoman," Kai stated, failing to look past it.
"Yeah, ignore that," Evan chuckled. "Those darn vamp teenagers never stop messing around."
The young vampires in his clan were always up to no good, and pranked him when they got the chance. Of course, it didn't help when Evan instigated it by pranking them as well. To say the least, it was never boring because his mansion was a funhouse that led to a circus most of the time.
"You gotta give them credit for their creativity, though," Evan added. "Personally, I would've used oranges."
"Oranges would work," Kai agreed as his mind drifted to his wife. "Even melons or lemons."
Her pregnancy had enlarged her breasts from lemons to melons, so either one worked, considering he was only attracted to her.
"Lemons are nice. Melons might be too big. I'd prefer them hand size." Evan remarked, demonstrating with his hands by squeezing them together.
Unbeknownst to them, Tilly had quietly wandered back into the room and overheard more than she needed to. She's been here long enough to recognize the conversation turned manly in a vampiric sort of way, to say the least, which she found to be hilarious.
"Are you guys still talking about the fruit, or did you two want to be alone with Miss Snowwoman?" she playfully teased, causing them to flinch as they faced her way when her voice grabbed their attention.
"Oh, I was talking about boobs, and he was picturing his wife's breasts. And we're way out of Miss Snowwoman's league," having no shame, Evan chuckled upon his response.
"I was talking about the fruit you pervert!" Kai denied his true thoughts.
"You are such a liar!" Evan called him out on it, and Tilly giggled at their silliness.
Things were never boring when the cousins got together. Kai is a dignified and reticent vampire about his past relationships. Moreover, he keeps his personal feelings guarded.
On the other hand, Evan is the complete opposite of Kai but is still respectable. Like a rowdy puppy, he is more ludic, and he openly shares his roguishly perverted mind without shame. Yet, he maintains respect with the females.
In turn, Tilly always enjoyed being around them.
"I'll be cleaning the kitchen," she giggled, making her exit.
"Get to the point as to why I am staring out the window," Kai grumbles, feeling aggravated since he was getting aroused at the thought of missing his wife.
"When's the last time you've been laid?" Evan teased him.
"None of your business," Kai huffed, annoyed. "Stay on the topic!"
"Look out at the sea," Evan instructed.
"And?" Kai gruffed, seeing nothing except for the tides of the seawater.
Evan happily explained, "I built a whole underwater compartment that connects to the mansion and goes out to the sea. No one knows about it, so if she loses her votes, I can keep her here and turn her into a vampiress for you. Since the compartment is underwater, no one can smell her scent to find her."
Kai exclaimed, "Then once she's transformed, the Vampire Covenant can't do anything about it. I'll be reawakened and get to be with my wife!"
"Precisely," Evan chuckled at his thrilled reaction.
"Evan, you are such a brilliant moron!" Kai smirked, chilling his excitement down.
He should have guessed Evan would come up with something so simple. Yet crazy enough to work.
Evan couldn't stop himself from roaring in laughter. He wasn't the least bit insulted by the name-calling. It was their thing to call each other coarse choices of names.
"If you hadn't been such a stubborn dumb-headed mule. I would've explained this to you sooner. This one offer is on me, but to find Vlad will cost you," Evan replied as he laughed.
"I could only imagine what you want in return," Kai snorted, rolling his eyes.
"Come to the bar, and we can talk about it over a drink," Evan proposed, walking away to go around the bar.
While Evan got two glasses from the counters at the sink, directly in front of him with the window behind his back, Kai made himself comfortable on the barstool.
As Evan seized a seat, facing the window, another vampire with similar facial features as them came in. For the moment, Kai thoroughly stared at him while he whiffed in his scent.
"This is your nephew, Troy. He is Chester's firstborn son," Evan introduced them. "Troy, meet your Uncle Kai."
"I didn't know Chester had three sons," Kai stated. "I thought Joshua was his oldest son."
"I'm the son he disowned, and Joshua got my birthright." Troy bitterly replied as he sat next to Evan's right shoulder, with Kai directly across from him.
"What did you do?" Kai squinted at him suspiciously.
"What do you mean?" Troy avoided it by hiding his guilt behind his impassive face.
"I know my brother. He'd never repudiate you unless you have done something wrong," Kai affirmed as he held his palms out, inviting Troy to transfer his memories to him.
Transferring their memories would allow them to know one another since their Kind can sleep for far too long if they chose to. Inherently, there would be life events they missed, and if they never met, transferring their memories granted them the opportunity to know each other rather quickly.
