It has been two weeks since the romantic encounter between Jerry and Catherine in the park.
Throughout the two weeks, they both took the time to get to know each other well.
Jerry did all he could to make Catherine happy. Every morning he always passed by her house to pick her up, and in the evening he brought her back home before going home. On some occasions, he had dinner with Catherine and her mom before going back home.
Despite all this, Jerry always had a balanced view of his work and relationships.
At work, Jerry treated Catherine like every other employee, and this irritated Catherine so much that she had no choice but to succumb because she understood why he did that.
Meanwhile, Catherine's colleagues always questioned if the both of them were really together because at the company they never acted as if they were dating; it was as if the only relationship that existed between the both of them was that of a boss and employee, but outside the company they were two love birds who couldn't stay at work without talking to each other.
It's the beginning of a new weekend, but unlike other weekends, he stayed at home.
He didn't go out with his friends as usual or go out with Catherine like the previous two weeks.
Since his dad too didn't have anywhere to go, they both sat in the same seat, where they kept discussing their personal issues.
As they were discussing, suddenly Mr. Bernard felt a sharp pain in his heart, and immediately he held his chest.
"Dad, is everything OK?" Jerry asked his father while approaching him.
"Yes, I'm alright," Mr. Bernard replied as the pain subsided immediately.
But in a split second, he felt the sharp pain again, but this time it was fiercer than the previous one. It seemed as if his lungs were blocked and no air was passing through anymore, and immediately he started panting while holding his chest.
"Dad! Dad!" Jerry screamed while trying to calm him down, but it seemed as if the situation was getting worse as Mr. Bernard kept breathing hard, and from the look of things, it was as if his eyes were going to pump out of the socket.
Without hesitating, Jerry backed him up and started heading towards the exit door, not minding how plump or heavy his father was.
As he was reaching outside, the guard who was watching over the gate saw him from far struggling with his father on his back, and immediately he ran towards him and helped in carrying Mr. Bernard to Jerry's car, after which he immediately ran and opened the gate for Jerry, who zoomed off immediately.
"As he was on his way to the hospital, he placed a call across to the doctor and informed him about his arrival.
"In less than fifteen minutes, he was already at the hospital, and once he arrived, the doctors, who were already expecting his arrival, ran towards him with the stretcher with which they led him and started heading towards the ICU room.
As they were about to enter the ICU room, Jerry too wanted to follow them in, but one of the doctors stopped him and told him to wait outside because he couldn't follow them in.
Without insisting, Jerry went to one of the steel chairs and sat down while praying in his heart that nothing happens to his father because, since the death of his mother, his father has always been his source of happiness; they were like five and six, and he couldn't afford to lose him too.
After sitting there for some moments, he brought out his phone and sent a text message to Daniel and his stepmother, informing them of Mr. Bernard's condition.
As he was still sitting down on the steel chair, lost in his thoughts, his phone started ringing.
When he brought it out of his pocket, he saw that it was Catherine calling, and he immediately picked it up.
"Hello, Mr. CEO, How are you?" Catherine inquired from the other end.
"I'm fine, babe, and you?" Jerry inquired with a dejected tone.
"Hey, is everything alright? Why are you sounding like that?" Catherine inquired across the phone, and Jerry remained silent for some seconds before replying.
"Babe, everything is not alright; I'm actually at the hospital." Jerry replied across the phone.
"What, why did you scratch your wound again?" Catherine inquired.
"No, babe, it's nothing like that. It's my dad that is sick again," Jerry replied with a dejected tone.
"Oh, babe, I'm sorry to hear that. How is he feeling now?" Catherine inquired with a worried tone from the other end.
"He's still in the ICU room; the doctors haven't come out yet," Jerry replied with a dejected tone.
"OK, babe, I hope he gets better soon," Catherine said to him with a caring tone.
"I hope so too," Jerry replied across the phone. .
"I'm helping my mom with some things in the boutique; I will come to see you as soon as I'm done." Catherine spoke to Jerry from the other side of the phone.
"OK, babe, I will be expecting you," Jerry replied.
"I hope you aren't crying." Catherine inquired with a teasing tone across the phone, and Jerry smiled before replying.
"You really know how to make someone smile, don't you?" Jerry inquired while smiling.
"Of course I don't like it when you are sad," Catherine said to Jerry, and Jerry smiled as if Catherine were just in front of him.
"I have to hang up now; I will be there as soon as I'm done in the boutique," Catherine said to Jerry before hanging up the call.
Twenty minutes after Jerry finished discussing with Catherine, he sighted Cynthia and Daniel running towards him.
"Jerry, what's wrong with dad?" Dad asked Jerry, looking worried.
"What's wrong with him?" Cynthia repeated the question with a worried tone, and immediately Jerry looked at her angrily.
"I don't know," Jerry replied angrily. "He's still in the ICU room; we have to wait for the doctor to come; he will be the one to tell us what's wrong with him.
With that statement, Daniel went and sat a few meters away from Jerry and started manipulating his phone.
"Daniel, are you serious? Your dad is in the ICU room, and all you could do is sit down and manipulate your phone."Cynthia said this to Daniel angrily, and immediately Daniel got infuriated.
"And what do you want me to do? Am I the doctor?"Daniel inquired angrily.
"You both should stop screaming; we are in the hospital," Jerry said to them, and they hissed at him without replying.
Cynthia, on the other hand, started pacing up and down in the hospital while reciting some prayers, but Jerry and Daniel looked at her angrily and shook their heads in disbelief without saying a word.
