Catherine ran out of the hospital with mixed feelings; she didn't know if to blame herself for easily falling in love or her heart for luring her to fall in love.
As she was standing by the roadside trying to flag down a taxi, Jerry ran out of the hospital while screaming her name.
"Catherine, please hear me out," Jerry pleaded to Catherine while approaching her.
When he approached her, he tried taking her hands, but Catherine gave him a hot slap that made Jerry feel as if his left cheek was going to pill off, and immediately he held his cheeks with his hands.
"Don't touch me, you liar," Catherine said to him angrily.
"Catherine, can you please hear me out, please?" Jerry pleaded again while holding his cheek.
"And why should I do that, so that you will fill my head with your lies again?" Catherine inquired angrily, and immediately tears started dropping from her eyes.
As Jerry wanted to speak, she cut him off.
"Do you know what Jerry is? I don't blame you. I blame myself for easily falling for your lies, and from today on, I don't want to have anything to do with you," Catherine informed Jerry while cleaning her eyes with her palms.
"Are you breaking up with me?" Jerry asked Catherine with a surprised tone, but Catherine ignored his question and flagged down a taxi.
Before Jerry would open his mouth to talk, Catherine got into the taxi, and the driver zoomed off.
Jerry stood there looking at the taxi until it went out of sight.
After some seconds, he got back to his senses and started walking angrily to the hospital in order to confront Lucy, but when he got inside the room, he saw that his father was already awake, and immediately his anger subsided. Without hesitating, he went and sat beside him.
"Hey dad, thank goodness you are finally awake," Jerry said to his father, who smiled without replying.
"Dad, you scared the hell out of me; I thought I was going to lose you," Jerry said to his dad with a dejected tone.
"Come on, Jerry, you aren't going to lose me now, but it can be soon," Mr. Bernard said to Jerry while avoiding his gaze.
"Come on, dad, stop saying that, "Jerry said to his dad, who faked a smile.
"So what did the doctor say about my condition? Mr. Bernard inquired, and immediately Jerry turned his gaze away in order to avoid the tears that were about to start dropping from his eyes.
"Hey, son, whatever you are about to tell me won't change anything, so I hope you tell me the truth." Mr. Bernard said this to Jerry, who couldn't withhold his tears anymore, and immediately he looked at his dad with teary eyes.
"Dad, the doctor said you are suffering from advanced lung cancer, and this time around nothing can be done about it." Jerry informed his dad with tears streaming down his face, and immediately after Jerry broke the news to his father, he became mute.
After some minutes of silence, Mr. Bernard proceeded. "That's really bad news, son," and Jerry nodded in agreement.
"Dad, I will do everything I can to make sure that we find a solution to this." Jerry informed his father reassuringly.
"I'm happy to hear that, son, but you already know what I want," Mr. Bernard informed Jerry, and immediately he understood that Mr. Bernard was talking about getting married to Catherine.
"Yes, dad, I know what you want, and I'm working on that," Jerry informed his father, who smiled without replying.
As they were discussing, Cynthia and Daniel barged into the room, and immediately Cynthia saw that her husband was already awake. She ran towards him, hugged him on the bed, and started shedding crocodile tears.
"Ooh, my lovely husband, I thought you were going to abandon me," Cynthia said to Mr. Bernard while hugging him so tight.
"Will you please allow me to breathe, or do you want to kill me immediately?" Mr. Bernard inquired angrily, and immediately Cynthia freed him from her hug.
"I'm sorry, my lovely husband, please get well quickly. I will specially cook for you your special meal," Cynthia said to her husband while cleaning her eyes with her palm.
"You should actually stop being overly dramatic; I'm not dead yet," Mr. Bernard said to Cynthia. Daniel and Jerry busted into a round of laughter, and Cynthia hissed at them.
"Happy to have you back, dad," Daniel said to Mr. Bernard while hugging him softly.
I will be taking my leave now," Jerry said to them while excusing himself so that he could go home and freshen up.
When he came to the receptionist, he asked about Lucy, but they informed him that she was busy with a patient and couldn't receive any visitors, so he nodded and started heading towards the garage to take his car.
When he got to his car, he tried placing a call across Catherine, but it rang several times without any answer.
After several unanswered calls, he called his lawyer, who picked up immediately. He discussed it with him for a few minutes before hanging up.
After igniting his car, the thought of going to Catherine's house came across his mind, but he knew that it would be better to give her some time first, so he brushed the idea away, ignited his car, and drove off.
Once Catherine got home, she greeted her mom, who was enjoying her evening TV program, and started heading towards her room.
"Hey Catherine, how is Mr. Bernard's health?" Catherine's mom inquired.
"He's getting better," Catherine lied.
"Oh, thank God," Mrs. Joyce replied. "After freshening up, you can go and take your food to the dining table." Mrs. Joyce informed her daughter.
"OK, mom," Catherine replied, and she started heading towards her room, acting as if everything was normal.
She has promised herself she isn't going to discuss the issue with her mother, and from that day on, she isn't going to allow anyone to hurt or play with her feelings anymore.
She was going to forget anything concerning Jerry, even if it meant resigning from the company.
