Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

It was a Wednesday afternoon and also a day off for Lucy.

She was sitting on the couch, going through her social media handle, and on the other side of the couch was Sandra, her little sister.

After her breakup with Jerry, she traveled back to Miami and stayed with her parents for a year and a half.

During her stay, the director of Bellevue Hospital Center, who is also the best friend of Lucy's father, contacted Lucy's father and informed him that he would be needing some new medical doctors in the hospital, and if Lucy was interested, she could send her CV.

Once Lucy's father informed her about it, she immediately accepted, not only because the payment was higher but also because she saw it as a golden opportunity to get Jerry back.

Before returning, her mother suggested that Sarah, her little sister, return with her since she had just finished her last year in high school and was planning to study medicine at the university.

As she was scrolling through her Tiktok videos, she came across the video of Jerry and Catherine kissing in the park beside the hospital, and immediately she got infuriated and flung the brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max she had recently acquired on the wall.

"Hey Lucy, what's the matter?" Sarah asked her sister while rushing to the phone she threw at the wall, but Lucy remained silent while fuming in anger.

"Sis, you have damaged the phone," Sarah said to her while picking up the shattered device from the floor.

"That Catherine of a girl thinks that she can easily steal Jerry away from me." Lucy mumbled in anger. "I have been with Jerry for years because she came into his," she screamed angrily, and Sarah furrowed her brows at her in surprise.

"But sis, I thought the both of you weren't together anymore." Sarah inquired with a surprised tone, and immediately Lucy looked at her angrily.

"And who told you that?" Lucy inquired angrily.

"You yourself told mom that you broke up with him because he was too obsessed with his work," Sarah replied.

"Well, that's true, but I'm still in love with him, and for your information, I only asked for a break; I didn't break up with him." Lucy replied angrily, and Sarah furrowed her brows at her.

"And who is this Catherine?" Sarah inquired while returning to the couch.

"His new girlfriend." Lucy replied angrily.

"Well, that's your loss; there are things in this life that you can't get twice; you get them once and you lose them once." Sarah informed Lucy, who hissed at her.

"On whose side are you? Are you with me or against me?" Lucy inquired angrily.

"Sis I'm not against you, but if I were you, I would stay away from Catherine and Jerry. I have seen this kind of situation before, and I know how it ends." Sarah informed her sister while standing up from the couch.

"Well, Mrs. Counselor, I didn't ask for your point of view," Lucy said to her sister, who was already heading towards the stairs.

"Don't say I didn't warn you," Sarah said to her sister while heading upstairs. "And go and get yourself a new phone; you have damaged the other." Sarah said this to her sister, who hissed at her without replying.

The video of Jerry and Catherine kissing in the garden has gone more viral than they expected. Once Catherine came to the company, all her colleagues came out and started clapping for her. She didn't expect such treatment, but since Jerry and Daniel weren't around, everything was possible.

Meanwhile, because of the shock, Jerry decided to stay at home throughout the whole week and resume the following week.

Mr. Bernard has gone out to attend to some business affairs, leaving Jerry and Cynthia at home with the maids that were attending to their daily chores.

As Jerry was lying on the couch in the sitting room while going through his social media handle and nodding to the music coming from the earpiece inserted in his ear, Cynthia barged into the sitting room and started staring at him angrily. Without hesitating, he removed the earpiece from his ear and started staring at her inquisitively while wondering the reason behind her frown.

"Jerry, what is the meaning of what I'm seeing on social media?" Cynthia inquired angrily.

"And what are you seeing on social media?" Jerry inquired while adjusting himself on the couch.

"This," Cynthia replied angrily while showing the video playing on her phone to Jerry.

"And what about that?" Jerry inquired while trying to control his temper.

"So Jerry, after I told you that I didn't like that girl, you still went on to date her?" Cynthia inquired, and Jerry furrowed his brows at her.

"And who are you to tell me who to date or not to date?" Jerry inquired, and immediately Cynthia widened her eyes in surprise.

"I don't know what you are up to, and I don't care, but stay away from me," Jerry warned Cynthia angrily.

"Wow, so you are now warning me because of that girl, right?" Cynthia inquired angrily.

"Her name is Catherine, not that girl." Jerry chipped in angrily, and Cynthia nodded her head angrily.

"We shall see about that," Cynthia replied while heading angrily upstairs.

"Do your worst, but if anything happens to her, you won't like my second side," Jerry warned Cynthia, who was heading upstairs, and immediately she stopped at the stairs and looked at Jerry angrily before heading towards her room.

Once Cynthia entered her room, she angrily banged on her door and went and sat on her bed.

"What am I going to do?" She mumbled to herself while tapping her bed.

After some minutes of reflection, she took it and unlocked it.

"How can I stay here and break my head while the person I'm trying to help is out there doing nothing?" She mumbled to herself while dialing Daniel's number.

After some minutes of ringing, he picked up.

"Hello, mom, How are you?" Daniel asked from the other end.

"I'm not fine, Daniel," Cynthia replied angrily. "Haven't you seen the video streaming online?" Cynthia asked across the phone.

"If it's the video of Jerry and Catherine, I have seen it already, or isn't it what you are talking about?" Daniel asked reluctantly from the other end.

"So you have seen it, and you are talking as if everything is alright?" Cynthia asked angrily.

"Mom, you have been the one plotting your schemes, but none of them are yielding good results, so why don't you allow me to scheme mine too?" Daniel said from the other end, and immediately Cynthia furrowed her brows as if Daniel were just in front of her.

"What do you mean by that?" Cynthia asked Daniel surprisedly across the call.

"Patience, Mom, when I come back, I will explain everything to you, or don't you trust your son?" Daniel inquired with a wicked tone from the other end.

"Of course I trust you, son; I trust you," Cynthia replied with a surprised tone while wondering what Daniel had in mind.

"OK, have a nice day, mom," Daniel said before hanging up the phone.

Immediately, Cynthia realized that he had hung up the phone. A smile brightened her face for no reason, and immediately she lay down on her bed while smiling, feeling satisfied.
