Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – Zeke’s Grandfather

Third person POV

"Woah, is that it?" Lloyd asked them.

"Yes, and we tried everything to open it," one of the Undead animals, a tiger in his human form, responded. "Pushing, pulling, barging in; none of them worked."

Lloyd then analyzed the problem, before hypothesizing that it was locked and sealed with magic.

The expeditionary team listened to him.

"How did you know that, leader?" Marsa asked.

"It's just a hypothesis so it may or may not be true." Lloyd scratched his head.

Then, Zeke began to think about it and suddenly, he got an idea.

"How about we just find someone to barge into it?" he suggested.

"You know someone that strong?" Lloyd asked. Zeke then nodded.

  "Yes, my grandfather."

  "Oh," the rest responded.

"But, he's already dead for years," Zeke added. "But, I think I can bring him back to life."

  "You can?" Lloyd asked again.

Then, Marsa responded, "He has an ability to bring someone back to life. That was our tribe's specialty."

Lloyd was surprised to hear that, and he replied, "Wow, I did not know that."

  "Yes," Zeke responded back.

Eventually, after a little bit of thinking, Lloyd agreed with Zeke's suggestion and asked him where his grandfather was buried.

"Come with me," Zeke undoubtedly replied back.

Later, after getting out of the tunnel and untying the rope, they, alongside Sati, went to a nearby abandoned iron mine and went through its shafts. The shafts are a bit complex to traverse through. They are also dark, but rows of fire torches provide lighting. Not long after, they had arrived at one of the chambers that can be accessed by a doorway supported by wooden beams. And in the center is Zeke's grandfather, who was dead laying on planks of wood. Zeke explained to Lloyd and the others that his grandfather had been dead for 10 years, but despite that, not a sign of decay or decomposition was shown on his body. Lloyd was amazed, but Sati and the others already knew that.

"How can it be?" Lloyd asked.

"We use a special oil that prevents the body from decomposing," Zeke explained further.

  "I see."

After that, they looked at Zeke's grandfather's dead body and observed its lack of decomposition.

"Alright, guys," Zeke said to them. "Back away. My magic requires a big surface area."

Lloyd and the others did so, and they backed away a few meters away from the cadaver.

Once that was done, Zeke outstretched his right hand and magic surrounded him. His eyes turned from red to aura blue. Then, using his tribe's special technique, he revived his dead grandfather back to life as Lloyd and the others took cover partially with their hands because of the light the magic produces. At that point, Zeke used almost half of his mana for this alone. Seconds later, Zeke's grandfather came back to life, and he opened his eyes, before getting up.

"Who dared to disturb my slumber?" he asked.

He then looked around and then to his grandson.

"Oh, it's you, Zeke," he said to him. "Did you do that to me?"

As Lloyd and the others lower their guard down, Zeke responded boldly, "Yes."

  "Woah, it worked!" Lloyd thought.

By that time, Zeke's eyes returned to normal.
