Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 – A New Life as a Leader

Nate's POV

I was shocked to hear all that, and the young man bowed his head. "Yes, and we're sorry for killing you."

"I'm sorry, too," the girl added.

Before I would say anything, another girl, with a bow on her back came to the tent.

The young man saw her and told her to bow her head towards me and apologize.

Upon seeing that I had survived, that girl bowed her head and apologized to me for shooting an arrow to my left arm.

I then looked at her and responded, "Are you the one who shot an arrow on me?"

"Yes," the archer girl replied back, "and I was hostile at that time. The leader of this Undead tribe and his partner had stabbed you to death."

"What?" I replied.

I then looked at the young man. "Are you the leader of this tribe?"

Getting up from bowing, the young man responded, "Yes, and my name is Sati. I'm the leader of this Undead lion tribe."

He then looked at the archer girl and continued, "And this one is Hale, from the Undead bird tribe."

"Nice to meet you, sir," the archer girl, Hale, said to me.

"And I am Laura, a lioness," the other girl, Laura, responded.

I was surprised to hear that, with my eyes went a bit bigger for a few seconds because they became nice to me after everything they had done to me.

I knew about the Undead tribes of the Wooda Lowlands via books while I was neglected by my noble family, and according to those sources, they are hostile and hunt humans for food.

But, this young man, named Sati, said that his tribe had changed and had started to farm for food.

So, I decided to sympathize with them and responded normally, "It's okay. I was supposed to die because I lost everything."

My response caused the two girls to get up from bowing, and one of them replied, "What do you mean you lost everything?"

"I was kicked out by my family and exiled by the king of my nation," I answered back.

They were shocked to hear that, and Sati responded, "Why?"

"I was too weak in magic to meet their expectations and standards of being a part of the nobility," I replied back while partially looking down to my worn-out pants.

"So your family is part of the nobility?" Laura asked.

I nodded. "Yes, and I lost everything."

As a result of my testimony, the three of them became resentful and angry at my nation for exiling such an innocent person like me.

"Those selfish brats!" Sati cursed.

"How could they do that to such a humble boy like you?" Laura added.

"I could just kill them with my poisonous arrows!" Hale added, too.

I became a bit better by their insults so I let out a slight smile and said to them, "Thanks."

Upon hearing that, the three of them looked at me, and Sati responded, "So that means you have nowhere else to go?"

"Yes, and sorry for trespassing your territory or something," I apologized in response.

"It's okay, you can set your camp nearby wherever you want," Sati replied back. "And also, your stuff is right there."

He then pointed his finger towards my leather backpack near my feet.

I then noticed that right away, and immediately reached out to grab it.

I did so, and I opened it to check my stuff.

"Don't worry, we didn't stole anything from your bag," Sati said to me.

I then see that none of my handful of belongings were missing so I looked at them and responded, "Oh, thank you."

After that, Sati said to me, "Also, what's your name, kid?"

"My name is Nate Wole," I responded back, "a disgraced noble."

"Nice to meet you, Nate," Sati replied.

Later, at noon, I managed to stand up and walk outside of the tent, seeing all of the tribespeople and their doing. Sati, Laura, and Hale are with me, and he called out their attention. They then all stopped what they are doing and gathered at his tent.

"He has survived," Sati said to them, "and..."

"...as of now," Sati continued on, "I'll be retiring as leader of this tribe."

This causes his people to mutter to each other the meaning of it.

"What do you mean you're going to retire now?" I thought in response. "You're too young."

"And this human, named Nate Wole," Sati continued on boldly as he placed his left hand on my right shoulder, "will be your new leader from now on."
