Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 – Sympathy and Renewal

Third person POV

{Flashback}

Having killed their human victim, Sati and Laura pulled their weapons out, tossed them aside, and shapeshifted into a lion and lioness, and the archer who shot Nate, a girl named Hale, shapeshifted into a bird and came down to them. But, their eyes are blood red, and they seemed to be undead rather than normal animals. Then, they went closer to Nate's dead body and started feasting on him, just near Nate's campsite.

Then, after a few minutes of feasting, Sati suddenly felt some sympathy for Nate when he looked at his youthful appearance.

"He's…so young," he said to his two female comrades.

Laura and Hale then stopped eating and looked at him.

"What have we done?" Sati continued on. "We took his life away."

He then backed away, shapeshifted into his human form, and grabbed his sword, which was an Undead weapon, before putting it in his scabbard.

He started to shed tears of sympathy and felt sorry for Nate's short life, before looking down at his hands, which had been stained with blood.

"No way," he said to them as he wiped his tears with his right arm. "Poor him!"

As Sati sobs, Hale flew away from Nate's body, and on the ground nearby, before she and Laura shapeshifted into their human form.

"What are we going to do with him?" Hale asked Sati.

"Let's try to save him," Sati answered back.

This surprises the two undead girls.

"What?"

"I think his ghostly self will seek revenge on us for taking his life away," Sati responded. "Please, help me carry his body."

Eventually, partially because they saw his sympathetic side, Laura and Hale nodded in agreement, and Hale helped Sate carry Nate's body to the nearest tribal settlement, while Laura carried her and Sati's weapons and went with them.

Not long after, the three of them arrived at the nearest tribal settlement, which was Sati's Undead lion tribe, and Sati and Hale immediately went to Sati's tent to lay Nate's body on a bed made of straw. This catches the attention of most of Sati's fellow Undead lions and lionesses, whether in their animal or human form, and they went to his tent to check it out.

Once he and Hale had laid Nate's body, Sati scrambled in his little wooden box of medicine he used to treat his tribespeople whenever they are sick or injured to get a bottle of a handmade potion in order to neutralize the poison on the arrow so it would not completely kill Nate and ended his life.

When he did find it, he immediately opened and pulled the arrow out of Nate's left arm, before dousing its shot wound with that potion, which was a healing potion handmade by one of his tribe's alchemist.

After that, he told Laura to get some scarps of cloth from his stack of clothes so he would wrap Nate's shot and bite wounds before it bleeds more blood.

Laura did so, and she grabbed some scraps of cloth from Sate's pile of clothes and gave them to Sati.

Sate then used them to wrap all of Nate's wounds so he would not bleed to death as Laura, Hale, and most of Sati's tribespeople observes from afar.

After a couple of seconds, Sati managed to do so, and he stand up and said to them, "I think it's good now."

He then turned around. "I think we should stop attacking most humans."

This surprises them a lot, and one of the tribespeople asked, "What? How about food?"

To that Sati began to think about it for a while, before he said to them, "Let's grow some crops for food."

But the problem is, since his tribe had been hunting humans and normal animals for a long time, they had no idea how to farm.

"How are we going to do that?" one of the lionesses raised a question.

"Well," Sati responded while thinking once more.

He then looked at them and continued, "Let's just try farming, even though we had no idea how to do it. Gather whatever plant is edible so we could try to grow them. But, we can hunt if it's necessary."

And so, his tribespeople started to split up and went beyond the boundaries of their settlement in search for plants so they could try to plant and grow them for food. Days passed by, and it was with little success. Some don't know the basics of farming while some plants are either inedible or too hard to grow. As a result, some of them resorted back to hunting for food, but this time, only normal animals and not humans.

At the same time, Sati, Laura, and Hale started to feel guilty on their murder of Nate, and Sati started to think about giving his position as tribal leader to him if he survived. But, he kept that thought to himself. As time passed, everything had changed within the Undead lion tribe, with farming being one of the priorities for survival although it has some drawbacks.
