Chapter 32 - What Lies Beneath The Temple

[Solarius Temple]

[Deep beneath the forest of Aethercrest]

We stood in front of the temple's gate, amazement simply prevented us from making any moves. The decor and appearance was simply a fascinating sight to me and Rachel as it represented a long foretold legend, but Cedric was a different story.

"I wonder how much I'll make for selling just a piece of this gate!"

He clung to the gate, stroking it with his right hand developing a smug and evil smile on his face.

"Don't mind me Solarius, I'll just help myself to some of this and I'll have my ticket to a year's supply of constant enjoyment."

Cedric used his earth magic to construct a sledgehammer out of the ground and the earth, he intended to break at least few chunks of the golden gates.

"Stop! you blasphemous bastard!"

I jumped on his back in an attempt to stop him from inflicting damage upon a sacred item, also an extremely expensive one not even the 10 year salary of a knight can buy. It was a huge gate.

"Oh my."

Rachel placed her right finger's over her mouth chuckling softly at our scuffle.

"Get off me your squishing me with those over blown water balloons!"

"What was that!?"

I wrapped my arms around his neck tightly reducing his intake of Oxygen and I pushed him against the gate, unintentionally due to my uh...weight plus his we knocked open the temple gates and fell through the door. For a huge gate made of gold it sure was a little too light for a gate.

Maybe Solarius had her reasons for constructing it this way? The more I think about it the more I try to figure out if Solarius really wanted her treasures to be found or not.

THUD!

We fell to the ground inside the temple with my fall bring the worst seeing I was actually on top of his head.

"OOF."

I groaned on landing hard on the ground, getting to my feet I looked forward. I didn't know whether my eyes were deceiving me or it was actually there. Golden pillars which were erected multiple times reaching towards the ceiling, there was a statue of a serpent created out of gold placed at the far end of the temple. Even the floor was made out of gold.

"Seriously, this goddesses don't play around do they?"

Cedric asked again as Rachel stepped forward my guess in amazement. It appeared I was way off, way off. Emphasis on the way off.

"Wow.."

Solarius was a goddess who lived a luxurious lifestyle wherever the gods all resided, as a matter of fact it seems all goddess lived a luxurious lifestyle. We women want the best of the best and being gods getting just that was easy.

There was a door fixated besides the statue, it was hard to see mostly because literally everything in here was the same color and everything.

However thanks to Rachel it wasn't able to fool our eyes, have I mentioned how much I'm grateful she came along?

"There."

Rachel pointed her fingers at the door before walking towards it.

We followed her, unsure of whatever she had found but we were sure that it was to our benefit.

Reaching the statue she placed her right hand on the door.

The openings on the door were revealed, well they were already there. It takes a keen and impressive sight to spot something like that from a distance.

She searched for the door knob, and when she found it she twisted it and opened the door.

"What the fu-!"

Cedric exclaimed, what lies beneath the door was gradually revealed. There were several golden altars which housed several items. Those items were not golden in color and it could only mean one thing.

"Solarius...."

Rachel muttered softly.

"Treasures...."

I helped her complete her own statement, it was right in front of us. Situated on the first golden altar before us a silver cup encrusted with the most beautiful gems and decor I had ever seen.

"This is...Solarius most favourite cup?"

Cedric asked, as stupid as it may sound it might have been possible, Solarius treasures must have being items she cherished deeply. What if the cup was a gift from someone special? Who knows.

We walked past most altars and we noticed the level of treasures placed increased, for instance on the first row was a cup. However on the third row was an Instrument.

"Tsk, did that woman seriously arrange this whole thing in an order??"

Good question.

"Cup, shoe, sitar and jewelry, the sequence of arrangements entails the ascending order which means?"

Analysis breakdown, another skill I neglected to mention Rachel possessed.

"Which means her greatest treasure would be the very last!"

I exclaimed on the realization, without a second to waste we all rushed to the extreme end of the room and standing before us was an altar which housed a golden Key.

I took the key off the altar and stared at it with great happiness but also great confusion. The heaven's paradice was a key?

"So this is...the hea-"

"I don't think that's the heaven's paradice."

Rachel interrupted me bluntly.

"What do you mean? Your the one who sa-"

"I know what I said, but after seeing this I don't expect you to understand."

I was left utterly confused, even Cedric looked like he agreed with Rachel.

"The heaven's paradice is rumoured to be the most greatest treasure of Solarius because of the amount of holy magic it possessed. But I can't feel anything from it."

The same applied to Cedric as he was a mage as well.

Now that's a theory, she was right and wrong in my opinion. But let's consider this, let's say she's right then where else could Solarius hide it? Now let's assume she's wrong on the basis that no human should be able to sense divine magic. How the hell would we know?

"Tch, gut feelings or the way of the gods, which is it?"

Cedric spoke in an act of annoyance, I don't know if it was due to the fact that everything was a mystery or he was determined to get a piece of this temple.

"I-I don't.. know."

Cedric sighed, this couldn't have gotten more annoying as we were clueless about everything.

"Oh well."

Cedric used his magic to create a sledgehammer yet again from the ground.

"What do you think your doing Cedric??"

I asked the moment he was about breaking down an altar with the hammer.

"Can't have nothing to show for this now can we. Hehehe."

This dude is a psychopath, before he could break down the altar I pushed him down to the ground and his sledgehammer dropped from his hands.

"Mhmm!!"

He mumbled attempting to speak as my boobs were on his face.

CRACK!

The ground beneath us and Rachel cracked and eventually it shattered causing us and a few altars to descend into a huge dark space.

"YEEOOOOWW!!"

Cedric yelled in pain, he landed on the ground with me on top of him, but honestly I wouldn't feel remorseful if his bones got broken.

"Look what you've done!"

"Me!? If you hadn't flung those water balloons you call a chest at me this wouldn't be happening!"

POW!

I slapped him in frustration.

"You are just!....ugh!"

POW!

I continued my assault on him trying to beat him up in anyway I can.

"Guys."

I continued slapping him everywhere on his body.

"Guys behind you!"

Rachel exclaimed in frustration, but for a good cause. As we turned around our eyes met with a single altar fixated in the middle. In such a dark space a bright light shone over this altar from nowhere and whatever was on the altar reflected the light everywhere around it.

"T-that must be it..the heaven's paradice!"

Cedric stared at the altar from where he laid after been assaulted by me, a smile was drawn on his face as we had finally reached the end of our search.

"Finally!"

He exclaimed as he got to his feet before rushing towards the altar.

"Cedric wait!"

It was too late however, the ground beneath us rumbled as if an earthquake was happening. I squinted my eyes and looked around us and I could swear I saw something moving, Cedric turned around to face us with assurance.

"You worry too much, don't forget that I am an earth mage, no rock can stop me."

"Cedric behind you!!"

Rachel yelled out loud and I became alert, she sounded like she was in distress and it worried me greatly.

"Now what."

As Cedric turned around to face the altar, his eyes met with the huge head of a serpent with a dragon like face, it's eyes glowed white and it was massive in size and hovering it's head above the altar and towards Cedric.

The tail of this serpent was huge and although I couldn't see it, I could feel it surrounded us all.

"Oh boy."

Cedric spoke in a bit of fear, My instincts were right, a temple as sacred as this had little to no booby traps? It didn't need one. This was the big guns and we are screwed.

The serpent like dragon roared and it's roar alone sent a powerful wind which swept away all the chunks of rocks that fell with us. Anyway we looked at this it was bad.
