After they were done eating, they headed to class. Once they got to the classroom, they went and sat down. Well, Lei went towards the front of the classroom so she could explain to Professor Shiqi as to why she wasn't in morning class.
"Sorry Professor Shiqi for not coming to morning class. I was here, but I was at the library trying to see if there were any books on what's been going on that could help me with this," Lei stated as she bowed to show sincere.
"It's fine, Lei," Professor Shiqi stated, "I'm also guessing that you lost track of time?"
Lei nodded. She had felt bad missing morning class when it's so close to the final exam.
"Go back to your seat, Lei," Professor Shiqi said.
Lei turned around and walked back to her seat. She sat down and got ready to take notes.
Professor Shiqi smiled as he got to the lecture. After he got done lecturing, he told the four that there will be a quiz tomorrow that will help them prepare for the exam that's in two months.
The four nodded.
Lei raised her hand.
"Yes Lei?"
"What will the quiz be about?"
"It will be about what you have learned over the three months, plus what you just learned today," Professor Shiqi said.
"Ok. Thank you," Lei said.
"You're welcome. Class is over for the day," Professor Shiqi said as he walked to the door and left.
The girls got up and stretched, since they've been sitting for an hour and half.
"Are you three ready for the quiz tomorrow?" Wenran asked.
"I am, but I don't think I will get a good grade on it," Shen stated.
"I'm with Shen, but I think I will get a good grade on it," Tao said.
"You already know that I'm ready for this quiz," Lei replied.
"Of course. Well, I'm ready as well for this quiz as well," Wenran said as she smiled.
"Do you guys want to come over and study for the quiz so you can get a refresher of what we learned over the past three months?" Lei asked.
They nodded.
"Ok," Lei said as she smiled.
After a while, the girls got their papers and books packed into their bags and started to head back to Lei's mansion. As they were heading back, they stopped to get some dragon beards from a stall.
"How long has it been since we actually got to study and relax together?" Shen asked as she couldn't truly remember the last time they got to study together, just the four of them.
"I think it was before Lei got stabbed, which was about four months ago," Wenran replied as she didn't really remember.
"I think the last time that we studied together was before I got stabbed," Lei said, "has it really been four months since that?"
All three nodded.
It didn't seem like four months had passed already. Xiao felt like it had only been a month or two, not four months. Though, in the real world, it's probably been a week or so since she had gotten hit. But who knows for certain how long it's truly been since she'd been hit.
They got to Lei's mansion soon after. Lei had told the three to go to the study as she went to go and tell her parents that her friends were here studying for a quiz tomorrow.
After Lei had told her parents that she had her friends over to study for a quiz, she headed to the kitchen to snatch some snacks for them. As soon as she was about to grab a plate of jujubes, a cook had told her that dinner would be done soon. Lei replied that she had her friends over to study for a quiz and that they'll probably be staying for dinner. The cook nodded and replied that there should be enough for her friends if they were going to stay for dinner. Lei smiled and left with the plate of jujubes.
She got back to the study hall and put the plate of jujubes on the table. The girls were already studying when Lei came back. Lei smiled and sat down next to Shen. She got out her notes and got to studying.
Over the next thirty minutes, the four girls were helping each other with whatever they were stuck on and were also laughing. It had been a while since Lei could actually laugh and have fun. Her worries felt like they melted away like they did when she was with Yu Min. She tried her best not to think about him while she was with her best friends. She didn't want to ruin the mood by thinking about Yu Min.
"Hey Lei? Do you have any notes for what we had gone over when I was sick?" Tao asked.
"Yeah," Lei said as she got her other notebook out and handed it to her, "here. If you're confused on what it means, ask and I'll try my best to explain it in more detail."
Tao nodded and took her notebook.
A maid knocked and told them that dinner was done.
Lei replied that they'll wash up and then head to the dinning hall.
The maid nodded and left.
The four girls got up and went to wash up. After they washed up, they headed to the dinning hall.
Once they got to the dining hall, they were greeted by Lei's parents.
"Hello, Auntie Yawen. Hello Uncle Mu," the three girls said.
Lei goes and sits down next to her dad. Her friends sit down as well. Lei wants to bring up Bai Chun to see if they've seen him. But she doesn't know if she should as they haven't said anything about him. "Ma, Pa?"
They look up and at her. "Yes?"
"Have you seen Bai Chun?" She asked.
They look at each other and then back at Lei. "He went back to his little doctor shop in the next few towns over," Yawen said.
"He normally says bye before he goes back," Lei mumbled.
Mu heard her. "There was an emergency so he had to leave without saying bye."
"How do you know that?" Lei asked.
"Lei, eat. We can talk about this later," Yawen stated.
Lei nodded and started to eat.
A while later, they were all done eating and headed back to the study hall.
Tao, Shen, and Wenran sat down at their spots before they went to eat. Lei stayed standing up, but after a few seconds, she sat down in her spot.
They got back to studying and messing around. Though Lei was zoning out, she didn't let that stop her from having fun.
It was later in the night, the girls had left.
Lei was in the garden area. She was sitting on the bridge with her feet in the water. Lei was thinking about why Bai Chun didn't say bye to her. "Unless, I was too busy and stressed so he didn't want to interrupt me. But he still would have said bye to me. Something isn't adding up." Lei continued trying to think of things that could possibly add up. There is one thing that keeps popping up in her head, which is he was killed. Whenever that thing popped up, she shook her head and reminded herself that Bai Chun could protect himself.
Lei kicked the water, which ended up falling into the water as well. Lei stayed under the water as she, Xiao, remembered that being in cold water could help with remembering things.
A few minutes went by, Lei swam up as it wasn't working. She swam to the grass to get out of the water. Lei got out of the water and laid down on the grass, wet.
Pan Shi was walking past as she hadn't seen Lei since the morning. She saw Lei laying down and wet. Pan Shi rushed over and yelled for her.
Lei heard her and sat up. "Yes?"
"Why are you wet and laying down on the grass?" Pan Shi asked as she saw that there was no blood on her when she had gotten closer to Lei.
"I wanted to see if the water was getting warm yet. I didn't want to leave a water trail so I stayed here," Lei stated as she lied about why she was wet.
"Ok. Well, you should go dry off and get into dry clothes so you don't get sick, Lei," Pan Shi stated.
"Ok. I'll go and get dried off and changed into drier clothes," Lei said as she got up and headed to her room.
Pan Shi followed to make sure Lei does change into warmer and drier clothes.
Once Lei got to her room, she went behind her room divider to undress to dry off and get into warmer and drier clothes.
As soon as she was done, she went to her bed and laid down. Lei wouldn't fall asleep as there was still too much in her mind to sleep. Though, she's glad that she had an idea where her brother, Bai Chun, was. Lei would toss and turn when she did try to sleep.
At that point, she gave up and headed to go and sit on the roof. Lei got to the roof and sat down. She looked up at the night sky, which was clear of clouds and could see the stars and galaxies clearly. Lei let out a sigh of relief as she was still glad that looking at the night skies cleared her mind and could relax her. She did remember the last time she was able to watch the night sky which ended up making her frown.
"Lei?" A voice called out.
"Huh?" Lei looked in the direction of where the voice was. When she looked, she saw Dai Hui. "Dai Hui?"
"Yes," Dai Hui said as he jumped, flew, up to the roof where Lei was sitting.
"What are you doing here?"
"Your father needed to ask me for a favor," Dai Hui said as he sat down beside her. "Why are you still up and doing up here on the roof?"
"I couldn't sleep and I had a lot of things on my mind. I came out here and started to watch the stars," Lei replied.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, but the stars cleared my mind already."
Dai Hui smiled. He had some new information about the group, but he knows that if he tells her right now, she won't sleep. "That's good."
Lei nodded and smiled.
