Chapter 26 - 25

That could work, but the only thing that Lei, Xiao, was concerned about was what if there was more to what was being led on? What if there were more to be shown? Though, Xiao would know, but then again, someone could add on to the storyline since Xiao's in a coma.

"Xiao?" Yu Min asked.

Xiao, Lei, was zoned out thinking about the possible endings. "Huh?" Lei said, "sorry, I was thinking about the possible endings."

"It's fine. What were some possible endings?" Yu Min asked as he was curious to hear what possible endings she's thought of.

"Well… one ending being the same as the one I wrote down. The second one being everyone's alive except for Lei as she sacrificed herself to save everyone. Third being Lei becoming paralyzed from the waist down," Xiao said as she continued on saying the possible endings she had thought of.

Yu Min, obviously, shook his head at the second possible ending as he had a feeling both Lei and Xiao would actually die. He was iffy about the rest and was still unclear about the first one. "No."

"No? You don't like any of them?"

"I don't, especially the ones where it has you hurt or dead," Yu Min stated.

"Well, do you have a better idea?"

"I do," Yu Min said with a smile. It was obvious that he had thought about this before this.

"You started thinking about other endings when I told you what could possibly happen, didn't you?"

Yu Min nodded. "I did, but only because I know that you would have Lei do something stupid."

Xiao fell silent as he was right. She was going to have Lei do something stupid, that could possibly make her lose her life.

"See. You were going to have Lei do something stupid to herself," Yu Min stated.

"Look, you don't know how hard it was to gain fame for being a writer in the real world. I mean I did have some sort of fame when I was still in school and how nerve-racking it was before, during, and after college. I didn't want anyone to find out that I was an author of a popular book at a young age. I was always on guard when I heard someone talking about my books. I'm still faceless to my fans, but I probably won't be after I wake up from this coma as my editor/manager probably told everyone that I was hit and fell into a coma," Xiao exclaimed, "my fans were starting to get tired of how my stories ended with a somewhat happy ending."

Yu Min looked at her as he didn't know what to say or act after being told that.

"So, I suggest you don't get on my butt for that," Lei said as she headed inside as she couldn't stand seeing him, even if it would be the last time Lei got to him before what's about to happen.

Yu Min stood there before he walked away, understanding what she meant by all of that.

Lei went to her room and placed her hairpin on the table before she walked back out. She went on a stroll to take mental pictures of her home. She had also gone to her parent's place to see them one last time, especially her father.

As soon as she walked out of her entrance gate, she got on her horse and headed to the place where she knew that the villain would be. Lei tried her best to be strong and not cry. She knows that she can end this and still be alive. But she still has her doubts and worries that she won't be able to.

A while later, it's now around sunrise. Lei took a break to eat something and also to let her horse take a break to relax and to eat and drink.

"Am I doing this right? I mean I know Lei is doing this right, but am I, Xiao, doing it right?" Xiao asked herself. "Of course I'm doing this right. I mean after all I am Lei and I am the author of this story. If I was doubting myself and Lei, I wouldn't have created this story. I can do this. I can end this and get back to my world, the real world."

A little bit later, Lei got back on her horse and started back up on the trip to the place. It was now day time when she got back on the road.

On the way, Lei would think about what she was going to do and how to trick the villain into thinking that she gave herself up.

As she was thinking, her horse got startled by something and picked up speed. Which got Lei's attention and zoned back in.

"Bao! Slow down" Lei yelled as she tried to get Bao to calm down and slow down.

Lei tried to get Bao to slow down, but it wouldn't work. She thought about it and jumped off Bao, hoping that would help Bao calm down. It didn't. Bao kept running.

Lei didn't want to stress her horse more than it was, so she let her horse go.

Something rattled the leaves.

Lei heard and got her sword out. "Who's there!!?!"

No response.

"Come out!!! I know you're there!!"

Again, no response.

Lei was starting to get annoyed and would start walking over to where she heard the leaves rattle.

As soon as she got there, she was attacked by an assassin.

Lei would attack back and would get the assassin cornered. "Who sent you to follow me? Who are you?"

The assassin huffed and didn't reply.

"I order you to answer my questions! Tell me who sent you?!?! Who are you!!?!?"

The assassin whistled and huffed again.

As soon as Lei was about to ask the assassin again, more assassins came and started to attack her.

Lei would fight back. She would kill most of them, but would end up getting shot with a poison arrow. Lei would still fight with the arrow still in. She didn't want to lose, especially since she was almost to the place.

The rest of the assassins and her would continue to fight. Until Lei falls down and passes out due to the amount of blood lost.

After a while, Lei wakes up and looks around, confused. She sees Yu Min and Dai Hui. "What are you two doing here?" She asked as she sat up.

Yu Min got up and walked over to her. "You think that I wouldn't know what you were doing last night when you were walking alone. I knew what you were doing, especially after we got back to your mansion."

"Yu Min came straight to me since I know around this area," Dai Hui replied.

Lei looked down. "I'm glad that you caught on, Yu Min," she said as she looked back up, "but you caught on too soon for what I've planned."

"It's better now then when you get to what you've planned," they both, Yu Min and Dai Hui, replied.

"Yeah, but I was hoping that I would get their trust before you guys came," Lei stated. She had almost forgotten what happened and why she was knocked out. "How long have you guys been following me?"

Dai Hui looked at Yu Min as he didn't want to get yelled at by Lei.

"We had started a little after you had left the kingdom," Yu Min responded.

Lei wanted to hit Yu Min and Dai Hui, even though she was somewhat thankful that they did follow her and helped her with the assassins.

"Lei, we know that you wanted us to wait for a few days until you got they're trust, but Yu Min and I didn't trust that your plan would succeed," Dai Hui stated, "we know how they are and how they can be. For example, they poisoned the both of you."

Lei was confused on how he knew that her and Yu Min had been poisoned, because she definitely didn't tell him and she knew that Yu Min wouldn't have even told him either. "Wait, how do you know this?" Lei asked.

Dai Hui looked at Yu Min. "He told me."

Yu Min looked back at him and shook his head no. "Dai Hui, I don't remember telling you anything like that."

"You told me. I remember it," Dai Hui replied.

Lei was so confused now. 'Something isn't right,' Xiao thought. She would look around to see if there was something missing or if any of them had any shadows. They had shadows and something seemed to be out of place or missing from what Xiao had thought in her head about this scene.

"What are you looking for, Lei?" Yu Min asked as he saw that Lei was looking around.

"This isn't right. This isn't what I had in mind for this part of the book. I know that I, Xiao, being here probably changed what was supposed to happen after I got ambushed by the assassins," Xiao said.

"How was this part supposed to happen?" Dai Hui asked.

"I was supposed to wake up in a room at the villain's base and be tied up," Xiao said, "but when I woke up, my memories would've been erased as the poison would've finished its task. As to why it hadn't been completed is due to the final component which would be…which would be…" Lei couldn't remember what it was that would complete the poison. She started to hit herself in the head to see if she could remember.

"LEI!" Yu Min and Dai Hui yelled. Yu Min grabbed her hands.

"I've been here for too long. My mind is becoming Lei's. My body is slowly giving up," Xiao said as she had a few tears roll down her face. "Why can't I get out of here?!?!?"

Yu Min pulled her in and hugged her tightly.

Dai Hui looked at Yu Min.

Yu Min mouthed, 'we'll talk after Lei falls back to sleep.'

Dai Hui nodded.

Lei would soon fall back to sleep as her body and mind was in pain.
