Chapter 25 - 24

Lei snapped out of her thinking. "Sorry Yu Min," Lei randomly blurted out.

"Why are you saying sorry, Lei?"

"I feel like I've messed this up," Lei stopped and looked at him.

"You haven't messed anything up. You're just trying to get out of your book as soon as possible so you're not stuck in here," Yu Min replied as he also stopped and looked at her.

"But it feels like I have. Granted, I had no idea what was going to happen throughout this whole book."

Yu Min cupped her face with his hands. "Lei, it's still not your fault for any of this. I know it could feel like it, but it's not your fault. Lei, no one blames you."

Lei tried to free her face, but Yu Min held her more firmly. "Yu Min, this is too much. I can't handle it anymore. I want to get this done and over with."

"Lei, everyone knows. We're trying our best to help you, but it's hard," Yu Min replied, "there's not a lot we can do if they're only after you. The only time that they went after someone in your friend group was He Zhihao and it's been a month or so since they did."

"They have Bai Chun, Yu Min! They have my brother!!! I can't do anything to help my brother. I need to find him…" Lei had tears forming in her eyes.

Yu Min hugs Lei. "We'll get him back, Lei. We just have to find where they have him."

Lei started to hit Yu Min as tears were rolling down her face. "What if we find him, but we're too late?"

"That won't happen. We won't let it happen. Even if it means we don't sleep," Yu Min stated as he let her punch him. He wanted to let Lei get her anger, sadness, and whatever else she was feeling out. He wanted to make sure she wouldn't do anything stupid to herself or to someone else.

Lei went silent, but kept hitting Yu Min.

Yu Min lets her; as he knows that all of this had been what Lei had been holding in ever since she hadn't heard from her brother in a long time. He, obviously, didn't mind that she was hitting as long as it wasn't her getting hurt or doing something stupid to herself. "Lei…" Yu Min mumbled, "we will get Bai Chun back, alive. We will also bring an end to this, where everyone gets a happy ending or a somewhat of a happy ending."

Lei stopped hitting Yu Min and looked up at him.

Yu Min looked down at her with a little smile. "Yes?"

Lei looked away as she pushed him away. "Why do you still like me? I mean-"

Yu Min flicked her forehead with a small chuckle.

Lei stumbled back a bit. She was shocked that he did that.

"Lei, you know why I still love you," Yu Min stated, "or well I hope you know why I still love you."

Lei had to think about it. "But that-"

"Lei," Yu grabbed her face gently, "we, I, know that you did what you thought was best…"

"But was it? I mean, was it the best choice?"

"No, but it's your choice and judgment."

"Yu Min," Lei said then mumbled, "thank you for staying by my side through all of this, plus growing up…"

Yu Min smiled as he heard what she said, "your welcome, Great Warrior Lei."

Lei lets out a chuckle after Yu Min called her the nickname he had given her when they were younger. "Really? You haven't called me that in years."

Yu Min nodded, "it made you smile, chuckle."

Lei rolled her eyes. 'I guess he knew I needed to chuckle, but then again it probably showed that I needed a chuckle,' she thought. "Why do I love an idiot?"

"Because this idiot tends to be an idiot only when he's with you and smart in front of others," Yu Min said, "plus, he only wants to see you succeed in things."

Lei started walking away as it was nearing the early morning. "Are you coming or not?"

Yu Min smiled and went to catch up to her.

A while later, they get to the Feng's Mansion. The rest of the back, Lei had a smile on her face; which soon faded when they got to the mansion. Lei didn't want to leave Yu Min or Yu Min to leave as she knew that it would be the last time that she would see him. The urge to tell Yu Min to stay was strong, even though she, Xiao, knows it would change the ending of the story more than she probably has.

"Stay…a little longer, please," she mumbled.

Yu Min's eyes widened when he heard what she had mumbled. "Lei…"

"I know… I know. I've changed the entire plotline, but I have a feeling that something is going to happen to me.."

"Lei, nothing is going to happen to you. We won't let it. We also want you, Xiao, to wake up from this coma and live your life."

"It will. I have this part or well the part that's about to happen in a few hours written down. Though, it might happen a different way, but it will still have the same outcome, Yu Min," Xiao stated. 'I do have it written down, but what if it doesn't happen in general? I mean like due to me telling the characters this is all just a book,' Xiao thought. Lei shook her head as she didn't want to think about it anymore.

"Lei," Yu Min said as he walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders, "so? can't you switch it up?"

"Not without it having major consequences. And I, Xiao, don't want to find out the consequences," Lei said as she looked at him. "It-"

Yu Min interrupted her, "we can find a way that doesn't have any consequences. I can't lose Lei, Xiao. And I'm guessing that Ru can't lose you either, Xiao."

"What possible plan can have no consequences?" Xiao asked as she had tears in her eyes again.

"Go along with what you wrote, but change the ending?" Yu Min stated as if he had that ready to say.

Xiao thought about that for a minute or so before nodding her head. "That could work, but what if I can't leave here after we've finished?"

"No need to think about that. You'll get out of here and wake up in your world. Since you knew how you were going to end this, I'm sure you'll leave after finishing here," Yu Min said.
