After a while, Lei started to feel sleepy. Dai Hui had left a while ago as he had to get up early in the morning to go and do something for her father.
So, she headed back to her room and went to bed. She'd sleep through the night without waking up, which she had been ever since she broke up with Yu Min. Maybe all she needed was to look at the stars.
In the morning, Lei wakes up and finally feels energized since the ordeal of the kidnap trap. She gets up and heads to put on her college hanfu. Lei then did her hair, headed out after she had grabbed her bag, and then went to the kitchen to steal some fruit so she could eat on her way. She also said bye to her parents before she had left her mansion. Then she was on her way to college.
About halfway to college, Lei had run into an old family member that they don't talk to anymore due to something in the past.
"I'm sorry," Lei said.
"It's fine," they said as they looked at Lei, "Lei?"
"Huh? Yes? Who are you?"
"I'm your Aunt Lan," she said.
"I don't have an Aunt Lan," Lei stated.
Aunt Lan's eyes widened. "You do. Your parents didn't tell you due to something in the past."
"I don't think so. I'll ask them when I get back from college," Lei said as she started to walk to college.
"Wait, don't ask them. Don't even tell them that you ran across me," Aunt Lan said before Lei left.
Lei stopped and looked back at her. "And why can't I?"
"Because they'll probably come to me since they'd know that I'm in the kingdom."
Lei shook her head and left.
As soon as she started walking, she got to thinking if she did have an aunt named Lan. Lei couldn't remember if her parents told her if she had an aunt Lan. Xiao couldn't even think if she had made Lei have an aunt called Lan. It didn't make any sense to Xiao why a character would appear and the character being her, Lei's, family relative.
Xiao didn't even write down that Mu Feng or Yawen Wei had any siblings that they dropped for some reason. She didn't even plan anything that Lei would have to go through before the end or well near the end of the book. Though she did plan something major near the middle, could it be that this was what Xiao had planned or well was the start of the major plan? It just didn't make any sense to why a random character appeared.
Lei was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't even realize that she was in college. She had bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry!" She said as she bowed.
"It's fine, Lei," a male voice said.
Lei rose and saw who she bumped into. It was Yu Min.
"Is there something bothering you?" Yu Min asked as he noticed that she was zoned out which usually meant that she came across something that's been troubling her.
Lei shook her head no.
Yu Min knew that there was something bothering Lei, but he didn't push her. "You can always talk to me even though we broke up," Yu Min told her.
"I know. I know. It's just a family issue that just happened as I was walking here," Lei mentioned. She didn't want to say anything to him about her finding out that she apparently has an aunt named Lan.
"Oh? Is everything ok?" Yu Min asked. He still cares about Lei.
"Yeah. Everyone's ok," she replied. She obviously didn't want him to know about Bai Chun. Though, he probably already knows about him.
"That's good," he said as he let out a smile.
Lei smiled back as it just came natural to her even if it was a fake smile.
Yu Min and Lei want this to be over so they can be together without having to worry about anything. All they have to worry about is themselves and their future.
They both stared at each other for a few minutes before their friends interrupted them.
"Are you two back together?" All of them asked.
Lei shook her head no.
"No, we're not," Yu Min said.
"Then why were you two staring at each other?" Shen asked.
Yu Min nor Lei replied.
Lei walked off and headed to class.
Her friends followed.
Yu Min watched and let out a sigh.
"We'll finish this mission and capture the one who's behind all of this," Lao Mao said as he knew how hard it was.
"I know we will. I just….I want her in my arms again," Yu Min replied.
"We all know you do, but you have to bear with it until we get this done and over with," He Zhihao said.
The other two nodded as they agreed with He Zhihao.
He Zhihao, Kang Fang, and Lao Mao care for Lei even though they didn't grow up with Lei as Yu Min did.
Yu Min let out a sigh and headed to class.
Lao Mao looked at the other two, "we really need to find out who's doing this and fast."
"We do, but they haven't done anything in a while, which is really weird and suspicious," Kang Fang replied.
"Could it be that they found what they were looking for?" Lao Mao asked.
He Zhihao and Kang Fang looked at Lao Mao, surprised.
"I'm smart when I want to be, ok?" Lao Mao said.
"You're smart when it's the weirdest times," Kang Fang responded.
"But you have a point. They could have already found what they were looking for," He Zhihao chimed in as he was thinking about what Lao Mao said.
"But aren't they still after Lei for some reason?" Lao Mao asked as he remembered that they were also going after Lei due to something.
He Zhihao nodded. "It wouldn't make sense why to if they were to stop attacking Lei, unless they did and no one knows of it."
"I haven't seen Bai Chun since the welcome back party Lei threw for her parents," Kang Fang mentioned.
He Zhihao and Lao Mao's jaws dropped as they also realized that they hadn't seen him after the party. "Maybe they did something to Bai Chun," they both said at the same time.
The three kept talking.
A while later, the first class was over. Lei still seemed a bit off.
"Have you two noticed that Lei isn't being Lei?" Tao asked.
"Yeah. Could something have happened?" Shen replied.
"Possibly. But what?" Wenran questioned.
"Could it have anything to do with the person she's after?" Tao responded.
"Maybe. But have you two seen Bai Chun?" Shen asked.
"Not since the welcome back party Lei threw for her parents," Wenran and Tao said.
All three of their eyes widened.
"You don't think something happened to him?" Tao said.
"No," Wenran said as she was lying. She had a feeling that something happened to him.
"There's a possibility," Shen stated, "we could ask Dai Hai if he's seen Bai Chun."
"We could, but what if he hasn't? Does that mean that something did happen to him?" Tao said.
They all hoped that nothing happened to Bai Chun. They knew that he was special to Lei.
After a while, Lei and the girls went to get lunch. Lei was zoned out when the girls were ordering the food.
"Lei!" Tao said.
Lei zoned back in. "Huh? Yes?"
"Are you feeling ok?" Shen asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" Lei said.
"You're not acting like yourself. Did something happen?" Wenran asked.
"No. Or well I don't know. I mean I haven't seen Bai Chun or anyone else for that matter. Mom and Dad told me that he went back to his little doctor shop due to an emergency. You know how he would always try to tell me when he was leaving or write notes to tell me. So, I don't know if what they said is true or not," Lei said as she ranted about how she'd been feeling and had started to cry.
The three got up and hugged Lei. "We're sure that Auntie and Uncle are telling the truth," all of them said.
Lei hugged back. "I hope so, too."
Right when she had said that, Yu Min and his friends walked in. Yu Min saw Lei and gave a little smile towards her. Him and his friends went to a table near the girls so that they could eavesdrop, but also make sure that they're ok and safe.
When they sat down, they looked at what was on the menu and then ordered.
They got to talking about the exams since it was around the corner.
The girls' food was delivered to them and they started to eat.
"Hey Wenran?" Lei said.
"Yes Lei?" Wenran replied.
"Do you think that the person found what they were looking for?"
Wenran looked at the other two for help.
"Lei, you should have an idea if they got what they're looking for since you're the author," Shen said.
"Shen, my mind is becoming one with Lei's mind. Plus, I told you that between the beginning and the end, I haven't figured out what was going to happen and still don't," Xiao replied.
"That's not good, Xiao," Wenran said.
"I know it's not, but what can I, we, do about it? Minus getting to the end of the book and finishing it," Lei said.
"We need to speed up the mission and get to the end of this," Tao said.
"We can't or it messes up the plot and storyline I had already planned or well thought of," Xiao said, "plus if we were able to without it messing up the storyline and plot timing, we'd still be in here the same amount of time."
"There has to be a way," Shen said.
Xiao thought about it for a bit. She shook her head.
"We need to think of a way," Tao said.
Shen and Wenran nodded.
Xiao smiled a bit. "Thanks girls, but even if you do think of anything, it could already be too late to even try it."
The three looked down.
Shen had gotten an idea. "Xiao, what if we," Shen said as she whispered the rest to Xiao.
Xiao thought about it for a bit and then nodded. "It could work. Can you inform the boys? I'll inform my family and Dai Hui about it," Lei said.
Shen nodded as she also told Tao and Wenran the plan.
'Hopefully this works,' Xiao thought to herself.
