Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Carver tried to get rid of his hesitation in dealing with so many employees and this had never happened in his life, especially since all the employees in front of him were coffee and snack customers when he was a street vendor.

"Maybe Mr. Carver is still awkward to say something. He is too young to be like us, sir," interrupted the manager in a black suit when he saw Carver who looked hesitant to speak.

"No sir. I just...." Carver was still silent again unable to say anything even greeted all the employees like a host.

"Come on Carver! It's okay," Edward whispered reassuringly.

Carver glanced at Edward, then looked around the company, inhaling slowly and exhaling slowly to calm herself.

"That's all right Mr. Carver. Speak slowly," said the manager in the black suit.

"Yes, sir," Carver replied

A manager who had been silent, seemed to smile slightly and nodded his head when Carver's eyes fell on him.

The employees couldn't stop looking at Carver from head to toe who showed perfection after becoming the son-in-law of the CEO of the Fletcher Company.

"Good morning everyone, my name is Carver Leopard, son-in-law of Mr Edward Fletcher. If I ever ran this company..."

"What about Young Masters Garvin and Melvin? Don't they as your sons get a position here?" asked a woman standing in front, interrupting Carver.

Carver stopped when a woman cut him off.

"Secretary Cheri, don't interrupt like that!" said the manager in the black suit to the woman who had just interrupted Carver

The employees all stare at Cheri's secretary, who cheekily interrupts the company's would-be CEO.

"Sorry Manager Joan, but I'm just asking. Sorry if my words are very disturbing," said secretary Cheri.

The manager who was wearing a black suit fell silent.

"Don't question the CEO position of this company, because it's not for you to decide!" he said firmly. "Your job is to work, not manage your boss."

"Excuse me, sir, if we were presumptuous to ask that." The manager in the black suit apologized even though he wasn't the one asking the question.

Carver felt he was being disrespected because a female secretary cut him off, as if he didn't think she existed.

Just then, from the crowd of employees leaving after receiving orders from the two managers to leave the hall and return to work, several people heard talk of Carver, from a poor street vendor, now a rich man's son-in-law.

Some were talking about not one, but two, but some were heard by two managers and the CEO of the company.

Edward at that time heard the conversation of his employees, Edward really wanted to fire them. The two managers immediately said something that silenced the employees who had been talking about Carver.

"Sorry sir for the behavior of the employees" said the two managers to their leaders.

"Next time that happens, make sure you fire that employee and find a replacement!" Edward ordered firmly.

"Yes sir," replied the manager in a black suit.

On the other hand, Violeth left and is currently at the Houston Restaurant.

Restaurant waiters and waitresses bring food and drinks ordered by customers. When you stop at table number 7, food and drinks are served at that table.

"How was your wedding? Is your husband handsome?"

Violeth exhaled roughly, then drank the cold chocolate she ordered earlier without answering any of her friend's questions.

The sound of the song sounds very melodious to be heard sung by professional songwriters on a small stage. Guitar and piano strains accompany the singer's voice that fills the restaurant room.

"Violeth? Why are you daydreaming?"

A waitress returned with the crispy chicken and sauce which was in a small bowl with peppercorns neatly arranged on each side of the plate where the crispy chicken was served.

"Order another cold and sweet cappuccino," said Vivy to the waitress who had just ordered crispy chicken.

"Until when are the waiters going to stop ordering at our table, if you keep ordering food," Violeth said without turning to her friend.

"Well, you finally want to talk too." Viviy laughed while covering her open mouth.

In an instant the waiter placed the order for a cup of cold cappuccino coffee on the table for the last time.

"How about we go shopping at the mall after this? Or take a walk to the Fletcher Resort until late? We haven't been there in a long time," suggested Vivy.

"Until the night?" he asked. "To the Fletcher Resort?"

"Yes." Vivy nodded reassuringly.

Violeth returned to eating her food with gusto.

"How about it, Violeth? Are you ready?" asked Vivi again.

"If we go to the Fletcher Resort, then who's going to blow the birthday candles for my friend named 'Vivy'?"

Vivy patted herself on the forehead, forgetting for a moment that tonight was the night to celebrate her own birthday.
