Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

"Trash son-in-law!" he snapped.

Carver felt offended, Carver put back something that was poured into his glass after hearing his mother-in-law's words that made him feel like a parasite in the house.

Barely a quarter glass, Carver stopped the flow of his glass. The drink in the glass was completely untouched.

"Mom, why are you talking to Carver like that? He's my husband, Mom!" Violeth reminded her stepmother.

Sophie glanced at Violeth while tasting the food in her mouth. "I don't like your husband, Violeth. Carver comes from the very poor of the lower class."

"Sorry, I'm here because I'm Violeth's husband. I can go with Violet, to leave this house and live in a rented house," said Carver, who was constantly scolded by Sophie.

"No! I'm not letting Violeth leave this house with you and live in a small rented house. You live here with Violeth, Carver! Don't care what anyone says!" he said firmly.

"If that's what daddy wants, I'm not forcing him to leave this house," Carver replied.

"Too many reasons!" Sophie slammed her cutlery onto the plate with a loud thud.

Pearly who was in the middle of putting down the cold fruits immediately left. He, as a worker in the Fletcher household, would not interfere in the Fletcher family's affairs.

"I want to get out of here if Carver doesn't leave this house soon," Garvin threatened.

Edward stopped chewing his food. Staring at Garvin with eyes full of annoyance and annoyance at his stepson.

"I'm not letting Carver out of this house. But if you leave, please!" Edward's tone was low but piercing.

Sophie glared at Edward.

"Father cares more about your son-in-law than your two sons?" Garvin rose from his chair with both hands resting on the table.

"So what? Two sons who don't know themselves. Why regret losing someone who is useless in this family."

"What do you mean by talking like that?" Sophie pounded on the table.

"Garvin and Melvin are completely useless in adulthood. They don't work," Edward replied. "He was supposed to work helping me at the company, but you taught him not to work, Sophie!"

"It all happened, because you're too mean, Edward! Garvin and Melvin are part of the Fletcher family! But why are you only offering a staff position? That's even lower than a manager," Sophie argued.

"As a manager, it requires good intelligence and knowledge. But Garvin and Melvin don't even want to go to college for their future, how can I give him a manager position, while both of them are not in college and have absolutely no experience."

"Garvin and Melvin will help you run the company if you give me the position of Director of the Fletcher Company." Sophie folded her arms and raised one eyebrow.

"Are you crazy? Leading a company requires experience and intelligence in leading a company! What happens when a company is led by someone with no experience." Edward rejected his wife's opinion.

"Then who will replace the position of CEO of the company later? Is it Violeth? Isn't her only daughter also not in college like my two sons?" Sophie argued.

"Oh, or will the CEO of the Fletcher Company be blessed with your favorite son-in-law?" Sophie asked, pointing at Carver.

Edward asked his wife to shut up and not say much anymore.

"Why? You can't answer?" Sophie continued to give chase.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore! But what is clear is that I won't give the CEO of the company to the wrong person," said Edward.

"I'm just warning you. Carver is just an outsider's son-in-law, are you going to give the company to someone from outside who isn't from the Fletcher family?"

Edward was about to reply to Sophie's words, but was stopped by Violeth.

"Dad, come on, there's no need to argue with mom like this. It's giving me a headache, dad," Violeth said.

Edward fell silent when his daughter asked not to argue over something that would only add to the problem.

"Father will be quiet if that is your wish, Violeth." Edward took a deep breath.

"Carver, keep eating and don't overthink this argument!" Edward looked away from his wife.

"But daddy. I'm sorry I'm the son-in-law for causing such a stir in this family," Carver said.

"You are not a rioter. You are a candidate who will inherit the company later, because Violeth is my father's biological child." Edward said confidently.

But Carver feels that Sophie, his mother-in-law, doesn't like his presence in the Fletcher family. Plus, Garvin and Melvin's gazes were sharp and hateful.

The food on the plate had not been touched by Carver. Actually hungry, hunger is driven away by a problem that has been a long debate between father and mother-in-law. Carver didn't even have time to eat the food on his plate.

Sophie rose from her seat as she put down the glass of water she had just drunk violently. "I'm still going to claim the company inheritance rights to my two sons, Edward!"

Garvin and Melvin got up from their seats, following Sophie who walked away from the dining table.

Sophie often left the house after breakfast, she would usually go to the shopping mall or hang out with friends her age, not to do business but just to spend the day having fun.

Meanwhile, Garvin and Melvin don't leave the house to attend college, but only to hang out with their friends and get drunk to have fun with bad girls.

"Carver, eat and join daddy at work!" he said.

"To the office?" Carver asked spontaneously.

"Dad, why is Carver coming with you?" she asked.

"Father will teach Carver how to become CEO of the company, as well as introduce employees to Carver if he is a potential successor to the Fletcher Company," Edward replied.
