Xerxes' eyes narrowed and his jaw tightened in annoyance at Logan's accusation. "I could bury you with that kind of accusation."
"I'd like to see you try," Logan spat back and Xerxes chuckled humorlessly.
"Logan, you shouldn't make such accusations." Felix insisted, trying to mediate between the two men. "Especially when you don't have proof."
"What more proof do we need? That man literally killed himself the moment he saw Xerxes!"
"What rubbish are you saying?!" Xerxes retorted.
"Am I lying? Felix, you saw it too!" Logan said, turning to look at Felix who sighed heavily.
"That could have been a coincidence. We don't have concrete proof to say Xerxes hired him and he killed himself because he was caught."
"I did not hire him! What do you take me for? A gangster?!"
"Oh, of course, you are too dignified to hire a killer huh? I see you still have that bad habit of thinking you are better than everyone." Logan said.
"I don't know about everyone, but I am certain I am better than you!" Xerxes retorted. "And what right do you have to question me like this? Huh? You should expect a lawsuit because I am not going to let this go!"
"Go ahead and see who it harms more. I wonder what people would say when they hear the great and mighty Xerxes Zhen tried to assassinate his wife!"
Xerxes scoffed. "You also, go ahead. I don't know anyone that would blame me for trying to get rid of such a terrible woman!"
"Perhaps you should not be saying that, Xerxes," Felix added.
"Whatever!" He yelled. "I am sick and tired of this bullshit!"
As Logan geared up to snap back at him when Felix interrupted him. "She's awake, you should both stop now."
Logan ran to her bedside in the blink of an eye. "Xian, Xian... can you hear me? How are you feeling?"
Xerxes watched the entire interaction with both shock and disgust on his face. It was a good thing he did the DNA test. Zena's heart skipped a beat when she finally woke up and the first face she saw was Logan's. She remembered the way he picked Xian up and helped her avoid the paparazzi and angry mob like it just happened. This man...
"What happened?" She said, her voice sounding a bit rough.
Combing her hair back with his fingers he replied. "You fainted."
Her confusion cleared up as the events that led her to fainting flooded her mind again. She sat up so quickly that Logan had to lean back to avoid her head from hitting his nose. "What happened to that man?" She asked, pausing when she saw Xerxes' rage-filled eyes spitting fire at her.
The door opened right as Xerxes was about to speak and a nurse walked in. "Mrs Zhen, the boys are ready to go!" She quipped, pausing however as she saw the three devastatingly handsome men that turned to look at her as she entered. Any normal woman would freeze and she was a normal woman. Besides, what the hell kind of situation did she just walk into?
Zena could completely understand. There were three Alpha men sitting in her room after she just lost consciousness. One looked at her with such concern and care, the other making sure she knew if he wished he could finish what the assassin started and the third seemingly nonchalant.
"Then I should get to them so we can leave." She said as she tried to get off the bed.
Logan reached for her. "Perhaps you stay one more night, just to make sure you are okay."
Even though Zena wanted to stay, Xerxes' scoff was enough to tell her that she couldn't make a decision like that. But she couldn't even get herself to be dismissive of Logan when she knew his history with Xian. And how he still chose to help her even now.
"I'm fine. Plus, I'm kind of tired of staying in the hospital now, since the babies are strong enough to leave I shouldn't keep them here any longer." She replied. "Thank you for your help so far."
Turning to Felix, she bowed lightly as well. "Thank you as well." Felix's eyes widened in shock. Why was she acting so meek? And the way she looked at him... he couldn't place it but it was odd. Before he could question her odd behaviour Xerxes spoke.
"If you are ready, then let's go." He stated bluntly.
"Where are you rushing to? The police are on their way." Logan said and Xerxes clenched his teeth.
"Then send them to my home. I do not have time to stand here and speak to you, I have better things to do right now." He stated. Zena looked between the both of them in confusion.
'Do they not like each other? Do they know each other?'
"Let's go," he repeated as he walked out the room.
"He is the CEO to your agency, Felix Zhao." Logan whispered quickly as Felix stood up as well.
'Ah... if he came here to visit me while I was in the hospital, does that mean we have an informal relationship?' She thought as she walked to him. 'I am just going to wing it, I don't have to address him directly.'
"I am very fortunate you came when you did. It's a good thing you visited me, CEO Zhao." She said with a confident smile. Like Logan said, take compliments and favours like an entitlement.
"I guess it is. But I didn't come here just to visit you, I heard you are very close with Fiona. Can you tell me where she lives?" Felix stated.
Zena glanced back at Logan unconsciously and he shook his head softly. He didn't know who Fiona was.
"I haven't received any visitors."
"Xian," Xerxes' deep voice called from outside the room and she excused herself and left immediately.
"Where the is she then?" Felix asked with a frown.
