"Then I'll be going out now," the old man left the room. Oh, I forgot to ask his name again. Then I suddenly remember, there should've been a goblin mage horde if 10 days have passed.
"Nea, did something big happen when during the time I'm passed out?" I asked while I try not to be all-knowing.
"Ah, yeah. A goblin mage horde appeared out of nowhere! Luckily Ms. Ysletta was there protecting the walls. It was surprising though, they had to come when the deans of the academy are not around by now," she explained to me while she was hinting that the movement was quite suspicious.
"The deans are gone? Where were they?"
"They went to have a meeting in the Royal Capital 6 days after you passed out. then the next day, the goblin horde appeared, and the guild almost suffered a heavy loss if Ms. Ysletta wasn't there."
"Ah, thank you for giving me the news," I stood up and moved around, "I think I can go back to training my bow now."
"Seriously, is training all inside your brain? You haven't even eaten anything yet," she scoffs at me and turned around, "Wait here, I'll go get some food."
How odd, why is she treating me way too well?
A few minutes later she came back with a basket of fruit and wooden boxes filled with food. I ate everything in a short time as I'm eager to start training. I wanted to ask her something before I go about my way.
"By the way, why are you treating me this good? I don't think I've done anything noteworthy."
"You know, no one has ever thought of meditating and doing a repetitive task to their death," her tone changed to a serious one.
"Is that so? Then do you want something for me after witnessing that?"
"Yes, with the rapidly growing threat of the goblins in the Goblin Forest, no other mercenaries are willing to escort us back to Port Lasso."
"Is that your estate? Are you in a hurry?"
"Yes it is my hometown and where my mother rules but we're not really in a hurry, we received a message from our mother telling us to go back since this town is still very vulnerable right now from goblin invasion."
"Don't you have bodyguards?"
"Yes, but they died before we even reached here, me and Rea only survived."
I let out a heavy sigh, "Really? Then just give me a few more days to train, I need time to prepare."
"Don't be pressured, we can even leave next month if you want, just tell me when you are ready."
I wish I can view the stats of other people right now, getting out of the goblin forest alone while protecting her sister should be a hard task but nevertheless, she came to this town. Must mean she is high-level with good equipment since she's a noble.
After we ate, I head back to my lodging and changed clothes to prepare to train. In order to level up the {Basic Mana Mastery}, I need to meditate for 20 days. That's a very long time and I'm not even sure if there will be another goblin horde that will emerge out of the forest, I can't miss out on those. I need to make more skills to use. First, I'll go get an archery-related skill.
I went to the novice training ground and grabbed a bow and quiver of arrows. Let's see how much I improved. I chose 25 meters. The feeling of repeatedly shooting and hitting the bullseye has been engraved on my body, I don't even have to see it, I just feel that it will hit the bullseye. I let go of the string and I really hit the bullseye.
*SNIPED!*
"What? What is this notification?" I was puzzled as the system shows a notification for hitting the bullseye. I shoot again and again and it kept appearing every time I hit the bullseye. I opened my skills and hope to find the answer there.
{Normal/ Sniping Lv. 6: Passive}
Proficiency: Land a Critical Hit using a bow 25,000 times (12,307/25,000)
Landing a Critical Hit with a bow deals 3.5x the normal damage.
"WHAT?! HOW MANY TIMES DID I SHOOT IN ORDER TO GET IT AT THIS LEVEL? ALSO, THE ARROWS WE'RE INFINITE???????" Discombobulated is still an underestimate of what I'm feeling right now. I've shot thousands of arrows? And besides I remember the target wasn't destroyed.
"System, can you analyze the target?"
{Practice Target}
- Durability 98,239/200,000
Wait a minute, I got sidetracked, all this time I can just ask the system to analyze it for me. I didn't have to get some weird eyes to analyze objects? I feel crazy, I've relied too much on what I knew.
"System, analyze the quiver."
{Rare/ Endless Quiver Lv. 1}
Durability: 483/1000
-Instantly refills all 350 arrows when depleted.
I see, that's why I was able to shoot endlessly. Hmmm, going back on skills, I saw two more new ones there.
{Normal (Growth) / Precision: Passive}
- Increases accuracy by 80% when holding a bow.
Let me try with my eyes close.
*SNIPED!*
How about when I move around?
*SNIPED!*
I move around with my eyes close.
*SNIPED!*
I see, this is very very very useful but the notifications are annoying.
"System, can you silent this notification?"
...
I guess I'll have to try. I kept shooting at dead center and nothing popped up. That's nice.
Lastly, an active skill huh?
{Normal/ Snipe Lv. 1: Active}
Proficiency: Activate 2,000 times (0/2,000)
MP cost: 10 MP
Cooldown: 5 Seconds
Let's try, {Snipe}. A cool-looking double cross-shaped magic circle appeared in front of the arrow and at the center is where the arrow will go through. This could mean, it will amplify my shot. I hold it for a few moments and the magic circle didn't deactivate, so it really is something like a buff to amplify my shot. I released it and it didn't make any sound, the arrow flew lightning fast and pierced through the target.
"WHAT? DID I DESTROY IT? SYSTEM CHECK IT QUICKLY."
{Practice Target}
Durability: 74,390/200,000
HAHAHAHAHAH! I DECREASED IT BY 20,000 DURABILITY. I laughed out loud thinking this is the greatest thing ever.
"Impressive," a loud deep voice was heard in the entire training ground followed by a few claps. I turned around to see it was Sir Strum and another elegant and beautiful Elf. Wow, I've been meeting a lot of women lately.
"Ah, good morning sir and uh young lady," I said then bowed to both of them.
"Have you fully recovered yet? You caused an interesting rumor, training hard until you die, other people have started naming you 'death-training-newbie'," he said to me while the young lady was checking out the practice target I hit.
My reaction to his information? I stared at him dead in the eyes with an overly expressive cringy face, I mean what kind of garbage-sounding nickname is that?
"Ahem!" he intentionally coughs to break the silence, "Nonetheless, for you to pierce through the target while you are still a newbie, you must've gained an interesting skill."
"Ah! Yes, well I can't really share it with you even if you ask, sir." I said while being cautious.
"Of course, it's fine," he replied.
"HEY! HEY! How many arrows did you shoot to achieve that?" The young lady was very curious and excited.
"I'm not sure, I wasn't keeping count," I replied to her. I couldn't really count it cause I was meditating at that time.
"Hmmm?? Even with my talent in archery, I couldn't achieve that, so what did you do?" She walked up to me and she pressures me to spill it.
"It's rude to ask such personal information, young lady Eirene," Strum pulled her away from me and said, "This is lady Eirene, the youngest daughter of Marquis Thelma."
A Marquis? That's a high rank in an empire if I remember correctly. I bowed and greeted her.
"You look like a pushover," she bluntly said.
"What?" I was confused, you just don't call someone that unless you're a bully.
"Even peasants don't bow when they meet someone from royalty, it was said that bowing to other people shows that you are less than them so the second king of the empire abolished the rule that you have to bow in front of someone with higher rank."
Ahhhh... Anyways, it doesn't concern me, if people view them as weak, I can use it against them, they make easy targets.
"Okay," I said with a blank face. Honestly, I'm not in the mood to entertain other people, they're wasting my time to train. UGH!
"So, how did you do it?" She returns to question me about it.
"You shoot arrows, a lot, like thousands," my social energy is starting to be empty at this point.
"Hmm, I see. Well with my blessing I can do that in a short amount of time," she smugly said and smirked at me.
"Blessing?" I asked.
"That's right, she was given a blessing by an Emperor rank spirit, Sylpheed, that's why she is now joining you in this Archery class," Sir Strum took over to explain the situation.
"HMPH! HMPH! That's right! Sylpheed gave me {Sylpheed's Blessing}, and now I can learn ANY bow skills and increases every bow-related skill by 2! Be jealous peasant!" She said on a high horse feeling like she trampled some lower being.
But sadly, her provocations are weak, who the hell is she trying to provoke? a kid? I was more interested in the spirit thing they mentioned.
