Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: Spirits V.4

"Sir Strum can you explain these spirits and how I can contact them," I asked sir directly and totally ignored the Eirene.

"Well, the spirits came from nature itself, where there is a work of nature, there lies a spirit. Even at the grass, you are standing on. But you don't contact them, you attract them and the only way to do so is that you must have pure mana and hidden inborn talent," he explained while she is holding Eirene and covering her mouth with magic.

"So there is no way to contact them? They come to you instead?"

"Yes."

This world, is much much bigger than I thought and I'm still at a town for beginners? I should definitely visit the library and explore this world through history.

"Then I'll be leaving you with young lady Eirene to train," he said as he releases the mana silencing her, and walks away.

"HMPH! Do you think you're all that? You think you can just ignore me?" she said with frustration in her voice and an angry expression.

"Yes," I returned to training and I wanted to try rapid shooting because I want to level up the {Sniping} skill to level 7 before I do anything, besides I want to try and get a new skill.

"WHA- HOW ARE YOU SHOOTING SO FAST!?" she shockingly asked and her face shows that she is annoyed.

"You just shoot, NEWBIE," I mockingly said to her.

I can hear her grinding her teeth and then she grabbed a bow and a quiver.

The winds were heading in one direction and that's right it was gathering to cover her arrow turning it into a magical one. She released it and the arrow flew and hit the practice target, not in the center though then the wind went unrest for a few seconds.

"HA! Can you even do that? Besides I even gained a skill doing that it's called {Wind's Blessing}!" She said with such an energetic voice.

"Yeah, but why would I waste my mana and shoot a few of those instead of shooting the whole day?" I said to her.

"HAHAHAHA! Just say you're weak! This is the power of a blessing from an Emperor rank spirit!" She said while laughing at me. But the thing that got on my nerves was that the blessing came from an Emperor rank spirit, it must be one of the top-tier spirits, I need to read books later.

She repeatedly did the same thing over and over again making me not able to shoot because of the wind.

"HAHAHAHA! See? I can do this all da-" she said before she collapsed and suddenly felt exhausted.

"What are you looking at? I'm just resting!" She said while she sat on the ground unable to move.

I just went and continued shooting now that the wind is stable again, I didn't pay any attention to her while she kept on screaming and mocking me even calling me names.

{Sniping leveled up! Lv. 6 > Lv. 7}

Proficiency: Activate 40,000 times (7,382/40,000)

Half a day went by quickly and I reached my goal, yes I shoot that many arrows in just half a day, I was shooting at a rate of 50 arrows per minute so it was achievable and with a little extra.

"Haaa, just why is it so hard to level these skills," I complained.

I looked at Eirene and she was sleeping peacefully on the grass, she really exhausted herself with mocking rather than archery. Should've just joined the Royal Court or something.

I left the training grounds to inform Sir Strum of the situation of the young lady. Then I went and head to the library.

"Woah! It's been a long time!!" I heard a cheerful energetic scream at the desk, it was Elaina.

"Hello," I said then headed toward the stairs, "Did you come visit me today?" she asked.

"Nah," I said while I look her in the eyes.

"THEN DON'T COME BACK HERE EVER AGAIN!" She screamed garnering the attention of everyone. Then her manager came and smacked her on the back of the head.

"Ouch! I was just kidding!" she cried to the manager while I head upstairs to visit the library.

"Miss Ysletta, can you give me books about spirits?" I whispered softly as she is always sleeping. The magic highlighted the books I needed and I went to grab them.

I studied all about spirits and how you could possibly make contact with them, but all it's pointing out is that the spirits will approach you and there is no other way to meet them other than them personally visiting. That's the reason there's only a handful of people with contracts to the spirit and two people were only ever recorded to have been in contact with an Emperor rank spirit making Eirene possibly the third one. This still doesn't make sense, the fact that what I'm reading is something from a different universe. It still feels like a dream.

The spirits have different ranks with them and each stage has a difference of power by 10-fold; Low, Common, Soldier, General, Aristocrat, Lord, King, and lastly, Emperor. So what Eirene had really is the highest rank. Seems like I can't meet one, I don't even know if I have a hidden talent that the spirit seeks of.

I'll give up on this one for now, until I find a way to meet them.

"Here's a cup of tea to my fine gentleman," Elaina whispered to my ear while she slowly put down the cup.

"Are you about to close?" I said softly,

"Yes, but you know you can just stay here with me," she caressed my face while she flirtingly talk to me.

Random receptionists are really a beauty. Ah! I must not let such thoughts come across my mind. But she is starting to poke my emotions bit by bit.

"Why are you looking at me so seriously? Are you already planning to make a family with me?" She said while she swayed side to side covering her flushed face.

"No and I have to leave, I'm going to go back to the academy," I said but I want to finish the tea at least. She sat down with me and noticed the books I read.

"Are you researching spirits?" she asked and grabbed a book.

"Yes," I replied.

...

An awkward silence filled the room and the only thing that could be heard from time to time is me sipping the tea.

"Why do you keep trying?" I asked her.

"Well, my mom died before she could even be rich back then. We had a really nice restaurant before the merge happened, both of us operated it day and night, we didn't hire any employees because it only add up to the cost. We built its reputation from the ground up, we were ready to make it big but then one day she just collapsed while working," she expressed a bittersweet smile and her eyes are starting to be watery.

"Ever since that day, everything has been going downhill. The customers are becoming fewer because the quality of the food my mother was making has gone worse and her health was also staggering down," she played with the book while telling her story and forcing her tears not to fall.

"Well, in the end, she died and her last words were 'Go be a rich b****'," I choked on the tea and she laughed at me. I mean what kind of last words is that? I guess she was just trying to make her daughter happy even at the last moment.

"Is that your supposedly sad backstory? And your mother's last words are why you're trying to get with me?" I asked her.

"She was cool 'til the end I know and yes that's why I want you," she plays with her hair and leaned forward to slightly show off her peeking womanhood.

"I'm not even rich," I said.

"I know, but you have the potential to be one! No one walks out of the forest alone and sleeps between a pile of goblin corpses."

"I can't deny that... How about this, I'll give you an answer when I get money enough to be able to live comfortably," I proposed a condition for her so she can stop bothering me.

"Hmm?Hmm? hmm?? Interesting, if it's you then I'll gladly accept your proposal. You're the first one to offer me something nice, the others are just a bunch of trash desiring me like I'm some sort of an accessory," she said and smiled at me so sweetly like her wishes were granted.

It was already late at night so I decided to put back the books and she proceeds to stand up, grabbed the cup and fix the table then left the room first. She turned back and said with a mellow whispering voice, "Goodnight."
