Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: The Wrath of Man

"I take it you're here to try and kill me again, yeah? I thought me wasting that pathetic band of runts was enough of a message to not toy with me, Cowboy. Looks like I was wrong. You apparently needed a better example of what happens when you mess with the best!" Dorion merely sneered as he wields his scepter like a staff, allowing it to glow and change its shape, the sharp point that acts as its tip submerging the base. The Scepter quickly changed itself into a weapon of pure, yellow light. "A Wise man once said it best, Ennio. 'Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment of something else more important than it.' That's what you're feeling, yeah?"

Ennio merely nodded to his answer, not bothering to speak another word.

Dorion continued. "I can tell what that feeling is too. Your eyes. Your face. Your body. They look like they're ready to face whatever comes your way. They look like an animal, ready to pounce and strike without mercy. I'd say I'm proud, but I'd rather save my breath once you're buried deep in these sands. Your eyes. Your face...They only speak of Retribution. Let's see if you can carry their will, Cowboy." His words were met with the same strength as his movements, as his attacks came in like a bolt of lightning. The Staff itself would spin amidst his hands, before slamming it into the ground and causing a beam of light to spawn from its point, taking swift aim towards Ennio's body. He only had mere seconds to block it, having his cape take the hit, searing it in the process. Dorion's onslaught continued the more he sends such thrusts to him, as well as waves to create arcs of light to slice at Ennio, being too big to block. He'd have himself forced to sidestep, taking damage by his leg due to the attack being large as a whole. He'd throw his punches to launch the bullets towards Dorion's direction.

The King merely tilted his staff up and allowing the light at its tip to arc itself, creating a shield to block the bullet with minimal issue.

Ennio would grunt a bit as he pushed himself back, guns loaded to strike at the king in different directions. The King reacted accordingly by aiming his staff to the sand and blasted himself forward to the sky, aiming his staff like a crossbow to shoot down Ennio from below. Dorion had a cheeky smile upon his face as he rained beams of light downward, seeing the cowboy cover himself with the cape, being more damaged by the second, though what he never expected was for an attack to come from behind.

Tink...

Tink...

Tink....

BANG!

Dorion would be struck from behind, a bullet to his back and one of his shoulder blades, witnessing the bullets act sporadic. They were bouncing in mid-air, going in different directions as if they were possessed, before firing itself directly upon his body. "GAH!! Blasted magic!!" He'd grunt, having the staff now aimed like a Javelin directly towards Ennio, one of his eyes atop of his staff like it had a reticle. "Alright, you bastard of a Cowboy. TAKE THIS!" With one gesture, his staff would expel and blast down a solid ray, having the size of a meteor aimed directly downwards, not only unable to allow Ennio to escape, but also having limited defenses. He realized this would kill him, so he'd risk himself taking some damage, if it means to live more. As he detached the cape itself, he'd be met with the blast that burned down a solid column of sand down into the earth deep within. When the light subsided, and the heat settled itself, it would showcase nothing less but pure, clear glass. A Hole was also made to show the strength of the attack itself. Dorion would land himself upon the remains, taking a deep breath when his anger was calm.

Citizens around him would notice the environmental damage. Some would even attempt to cast a spell to put down the cowboy for good while he was downed, if he was ever still alive, yet the king snapped his fingers to capture their attention. "HALT!! Remember what I said: No Magic upon my Presence! Leave such duties to me and me alone! I am acting as your sword and shield! I am the one bearing your enemies' blood! Do not forget that!" His words were clear and profound, but also showed a hint of anger, allowing the people to halt themselves. When Dorian walked towards the scene, he would hear what sounds like coughing. He'd look towards the hole to see what was going on, peering over it to see if Ennio really did survive. Yet sure enough...

BANG!

A Bullet, lodged right into his eye, causing him to scream in pain and grasp at the wound, backing away and stumbling back, holding himself up high, as he looks with his other eye what happened: A Figure, heavily injured, climbing up towards the hole made, using the glass as footing. It was practically almost suicide, damaging themselves like this, yet that figure did anyway. The Man that has his hands, his body, and his face burned strongly. The man that lost his cape, as it was nothing but ash. The man that is bleeding from the glass he had to grasp, cauterized due to the heat. There stood the man that tanked through the hit entirely, with his cape being his shield, and his instinct being his very heart.

"You.....YOU LIVED!?" Dorian would scream. His face was contorted into sheer hate, into malice, into blind anger as he grips his wound upon his eye hard. Ennio merely stood amidst the glass-like flooring made by his attack, his feet burning sharply from its heat. He merely looked towards the king, and calmly answered.

"You said it yourself. It's not the absence of fear, but the assessment of something more important than fear itself. I'll say this though, I'm glad to carry his cape one more time.." His footing being harder and harder to manage as he talked, seeing the damage he was able to cause. He'd approach Dorian, who is unable to walk properly with two bullet wounds each upon his back and shoulder blade. He's half blind. He can't fight just as well as he could before. He is now a prime target to be slaughtered. A prime target to exact retribution to everyone Dorian has slain.

The Cowboy merely stared towards Dorian, fists balled up, steady breathing. He was ready to finish this.
