Chereads / Lost in Hyrule: A Zelda Odyssey / Chapter 6 - The Sorrow

Chapter 6 - The Sorrow

Leonard shook his head, shaking off the negative emotions and continued on his journey - now wasn't the time to be upset, Princess Zelda was still waiting for me in the infinite darkness! Leonard gathered his spirits and was about to step forward when a shimmering silver light streaked towards him...

Leonard instinctively dodged, only to find it was an arrow. Well, well, someone dared to ambush him. A glance from the corner of his eye revealed the treacherous figure hiding behind a brick wall in the distance. Leonard was a little angry, just moments ago he was mourning and now he had to face an ambush from the supposedly innocent Golems.

Taking the long way around, he went behind the stone wall, pulled out his rusty sword, and with a few quick hacks, dealt with a slender soldier Golem. Smoke billowed, two golem horns emerged, Leonard picked them up and continued on his journey.

Suddenly, the path ended. A waterfall cascaded dramatically in front of him, and there was a gap of about 3 to 4 meters between the cliff edge and where Leonard stood. In the past, Leonard would definitely have been helpless. But now, he deftly chopped down two small trees. After a cloud of smoke, Leonard received two wooden stakes. They were still not long enough, so he put his ultimate hand to use, combining the two stakes into a sturdy "big stick". With another swing of his ultimate hand, he placed the big stick onto the "slot" connecting the two sides, and voila, a simple wooden bridge was assembled.

Walking on the bridge, Leonard told himself not to look down, just keep moving forward. The trick worked, he quickly crossed the wooden bridge and arrived on a new floating island. After a few steps, he noticed a culinary Golem set up a pot and was cooking food.

"Ah? Upon closer inspection, this is our first meeting, isn't it... I'm really sorry," said the culinary Golem. Actually, there was nothing to be sorry about. To Leonard, all the Golems looked the same. He couldn't differentiate one from the other, hence he could easily be tricked.

The culinary Golem was slightly different, holding a spoon and diligently explained, "The basics of cooking involve holding the ingredients, putting them into a lit pot, that's all..."

Wow, it seemed 100 times easier than Chinese cooking, he thought and decided to give it a try.

The Golem went on and on: "From what I know, cooked food can warm your body, restore your energy and more... However, these ingredients don't match well, please be careful when mixing them..."

Ignoring the Golem's advice, Leonard grabbed a mushroom and threw it into the pot. Soon enough, he had a skewer of grilled mushrooms.

"Heh, interesting, I didn't expect it to be so simple." Leonard also cooked a mosaic-like 'strange dish', and then casually left.

Walking on a yellow prairie, two slime-like Jellys suddenly appeared. Leonard whipped out his stone axe and after a few hits, defeated them, yielding two Jellies. He had no idea what these things were used for, just like the golem horns, but decided to keep them anyway. After a few steps, he picked up a Clo-clo leaf.

Next, an obstacle appeared. It was a large river. Leonard guessed swimming across was out of the question, he would probably run out of energy halfway.

An hour later, Leonard was still sighing by the river. He'd had a rough time. His first attempt at swimming across the river resulted in him drowning due to exhaustion. He was once again reminded of the taste of death... His second attempt was to make a raft, which he successfully completed, but clumsily threw his rusty sword onto it, ruining it and leaving only two bundles of firewood. On his third attempt, he made the raft again, fitted it with a sail, and as he was about to place it in the river, he was attacked by a Jellie. Outraged, Leonard swiftly killed the Jellie with his axe, resulting in a useless blob of Jelly.

Before he knew it, his little raft had drifted away.

Ah! Fate is so unjust! Leonard was not willing to give up. He rolled up his sleeves and got back to work. The wood was used up, but there were plenty of trees not far away. Leonard immediately chopped down the trees, and this time he produced three pieces of wood, which he glued together and added a sail to create a sturdy raft.

At this point, he was a little dazed, muttering under his breath as he hastily placed the raft by the shore. However, when he put it down, he didn't control his strength well. With a splash, the raft wobbled and began to drive itself away from the shore. In a split second, Leonard jumped into the water, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't catch up.

After chasing for a while, about twenty meters, the raft only got further and further from him. Leonard gave up and swam to shore. Damn, he thought, as a million angry horses raced through his mind! This was just too unlucky. It looked like he wouldn't be able to complete today's task. Alas, why was he so unfortunate? He had to start from scratch in this world, learning everything anew. And the monsters here showed him no mercy, not giving him any face...

After a brief struggle within, Leonard gathered his spirits, planning one last attempt. If it still didn't work, he'd wait until tomorrow. He was naturally optimistic, which was his greatest strength.

This time, he chopped down three more trees to make a raft, but when he put it by the shore, one end of the raft was connected to the land and the force of the water could not move it. What was going on? He thought for a moment, then pushed the raft into the river with all his might. The raft really started moving.

To avoid repeating his previous mistake, Leonard immediately jumped onto it. He rode the raft slowly across the river. The last attempt finally succeeded! Leonard was extremely excited. In the middle of the river, he kept telling himself not to move around, or he would lose all his previous efforts. With a gentle breeze, Leonard finally reached the opposite bank.

On the shore, there were the two rafts he had just made, stupidly moving forward. The weather was nice, the breeze was refreshing. Leonard's mood was completely different from before, filled with a sense of accomplishment. After all, the raft he made was definitely unique!

He looked at the small heart on his chest, still glowing red. He arrived in front of an archway. Ah! He was almost at the second temple, it was not easy!

After dealing with a monster, he finally climbed the stairs in front of the temple, and came to the Eniysa Temple surrounded by a green light.

Leonard couldn't wait to place his hand on the green vine symbol in front of the temple. The green ring rapidly dispersed, and a blue magic circle appeared on the ground behind, while a deep door suddenly appeared in front.

Leonard walked in, and the ram-headed Laolu appeared again. He said, "You're here. Come, stretch out your right hand!" Leonard looked at his right hand, a green glow swirled into a larger and larger sphere of light. When the sphere of light formed, a small sword appeared in the middle, which disappeared into his right arm. A divine message was sent to Leonard's mind: It has condensed into the second power of the Ultimate Hand--Residual Construction. This ability allows you to combine an item with a weapon or shield to create a new weapon. Of course, the combined weapon can be disassembled, but the removed item will be lost.

"This power is called Residual Construction, one of the lost powers of my right hand," said the ram-headed man solemnly. "Use it to add a new power to a weapon. Try to draw the sword in front of you and add power to it. If you can reach the deepest part of the temple by this means, Residual Construction will become your power." After saying this, Laolu disappeared.

After hearing the explanation from the ram-headed man, Leonard instantly understood. This Eniysa Temple was testing his combination ability.

He took a few steps forward, drew out the rusty two-handed sword, and was eager to give it a try.
