Chapter 10 - Conquering the Ancient Enbachi Temple

The third temple stood before him on a high platform. The smooth surfaces offered no handholds, and there were no paths leading up to it. Leonard couldn't see any ordinary way to reach it. To relieve his anxiety, he decided to try his luck on the opposite platform.

Just like the temple platform, he struggled to climb up a rough wall to reach the high platform across from the third temple. There were two soldier golems patrolling here, suggesting the presence of valuable items. He had recently acquired a dragon-head wooden shield, which could emit a three-meter-long flame when raised, combining attack and defense. Leonard felt a surge of confidence, raising his shield and charging towards the foremost golem. Taken aback, the golem scrambled away. The other golem, however, remained calm, wielding a golem bow and firing cold arrows. An arrow struck Leonard's right shoulder, interrupting his offensive. Seizing the opportunity, the first golem countered with its small sword. Just then, another arrow struck Leonard in the chest. Before he could react, the successive blows sent him reeling.

Upon reopening his eyes, Leonard had a sudden epiphany: if he could climb the platform across from the temple, could he do the same on the temple side? But he couldn't find any obvious handholds after circling the temple a few times. There was only a hollow in the wall, a few solitary trees, and nothing more.

Figuring out how to overcome this hurdle became Leonard's top priority. His gaze darted around, and it seemed as if the hollow could accommodate a vertical wooden pole! But one pole wasn't high enough. No problem—he could use his ultimate hand ability to stack another pole on top. With no readily available wood around, he decided to chop down a tree. After considering his options, Leonard saw a glimmer of hope. He stacked two wooden poles vertically and wedged them into the gap. Then, he shimmied up the poles like a monkey and hopped onto the high platform.

A broken house stood before the temple, with a pot in the middle and some firewood underneath. Leonard had little time left for cooking and thought he'd replenish his supplies in the ruined house before tackling the third temple. While moving towards the house, he wondered if he could save a flint by using his dragon-head wooden shield to start a fire. Unfortunately, Leonard failed to aim at the firewood under the pot, burning a wooden box in the room on the first attempt and shattering his shield on the second. "Ah? Shields can break? This…" Losing his beloved, cool shield before he even had a chance to enjoy it made Leonard regret his decision to save the flint. Feeling mournful, he thought the Enbachi Temple was indeed a tough challenge. The burned wooden box revealed some roasted hazelnuts and apples, and Leonard, who had just lost a treasure, decided to pick up these "bargains".

After a satisfying meal, Leonard, as per his habit, ventured into the Enbachi Temple.

Upon entering the third temple, he found himself in a descending corridor, which led to a huge circular archway. As he walked in, his cold resistance expired, leaving him unprotected. However, the inside was warm, not like the frozen wastelands outside.

Laru, as always, welcomed Leonard, "You've arrived. Stretch out your right hand. This power, called Skyward Technique, is one of the lost powers of my right hand. Use it to ascend to the surface above you. Use this power to go wherever you wish! If you can reach the deepest part of the temple with it, the Skyward Technique will become your power."

Leonard entered a spacious hall illuminated by four luminous flower lamps, creating a soothing atmosphere. There was nothing else but a second-floor platform on a diagonal above him. Leonard instantly used the Skyward Technique and popped out from beneath the second-floor platform.

What came into view was a spacious area comparable to the first level, with two raised platforms on the right. Leonard tried to ascend them using a sky-touching spell.

During the spell, a green grid appeared on the ceiling, with a swirling orb at the center that seemed to exert a gravitational pull. This was clearly the precise location to phase through the wall.

Leonard first climbed the shorter platform and retrieved a stone axe from a chest. He then proceeded to the taller platform on the right, where he encountered a patrolling golem soldier. Before he could attack, he was shot with an arrow and fell down, losing a heart. The golem soldier was small and seemed relatively weak. It appeared to only use arrows, so Leonard took it down in a few close-quarters hits with a stick. Once the smoke cleared, a worn wooden bow and the horn of the golem soldier appeared. In a dark corner, Leonard smashed two wooden crates and phased through to the top, where he found another chest that contained a golem bow.

Moving forward, he saw two ropes holding a stone slab. There was no other path. The halo at the end of the temple was within sight, but it was too high, seemingly unreachable. Leonard thought for a moment, pulled out the stone axe he obtained earlier, cut the ropes, and ran under the slab to use the sky-touching spell to ascend.

The final challenge was a moving platform, which couldn't stop Leonard for even a moment. With that, the third temple was cleared.

The deity said, "You have done well to reach this deepest part. Here is the light that drives away evil. Now let it shine upon you. The light of blessing will become your strength..." As the deity finished speaking, a rotating mechanism enveloped them, and the surrounding pillars sank, retracting.

After the orb of light entered Leonard's body, the red miasma on his right hand seemed to dissipate a bit.

"It seems you've reclaimed the power you need. The Temple of Time, which once rejected you, is now open to you," Rauru said, then disappeared.

Suddenly, Leonard was teleported outside. He checked his Purah Pad, which showed that the temperature in the snowfield was minus three degrees. He shivered and sneezed. Unable to bear the cold, Leonard ate his last Spicy Stir-fry Warm Fruit, which helped alleviate the cold.

Behind the temple was a protruding tail-shaped platform. Leonard had wondered how to jump up there before, but now with the sky-touching spell, he could easily get there through a green light channel. The high platform was very tall, and the white rocks seemed to reflect the oily light of the direct sunlight, blindingly white. There was a small cave in front, and Leonard took out a worn cold-resistant suit from a chest inside. He was somewhat disappointed. Had the cold-resistant suit come after he had been freezing for so long? Although it wasn't much use, Leonard still put it on. His lower body was finally not 'running naked', and with several layers of protection, he felt much more comfortable.

Passing through the cave, the snow in front was still white. There was a golem on the high platform busily at work, and Leonard went up to see what it was doing.

The Carpenter Golem said, "Preparations for today are complete... yet no visitors... Oh my! It's rare to see anyone here... Are you here for the Lanayru device to use for descending the mountain? Are you specifically looking for the Lanayru device manufacturer?"

"The Lanayru device manufacturer?"

"Yes, the Lanayru device manufacturer here can produce Lanayru capsules for descending the mountain. See that pot-like input? You can put the resources you hold in there for processing. You can use resources such as golem horns or Lanayru energy. The terrain here is very high, and it's hard to get down the mountain. For convenience, I've prepared a winged Lanayru device... Lanayru capsules can be easily taken at any time, it's a very portable Lanayru device. If you have these resources, please use them before you go."

Leonard thought to himself, it's a gacha machine. So he put several golem horns and Lanayru energy into the machine. The 'gacha machine' flashed a few times, and 7 capsules came out. One of them was a fresh 'wing', shaped like a bird-shaped vehicle, which can be controlled by standing in the middle.

Rauru sat on the edge of the cliff, legs casually down, his gaze deep, staring at the distant Temple of Time and said, "The so-called Lanayru device... is the essence of our technology. Thanks to it, we were able to build an advanced civilization. It has brought further development... If you can use this technology flexibly, it will certainly be a great help to you."

Leonard knew he had already completed three temples and was eligible to open the doors of the Temple of Time. However, how to get to the temple had become the current obstacle.
