Chapter 11 - The Temple of Time

It was quite a conundrum for Leonard about how to approach the Temple of Time, and he studied the situation for quite some time. There were several 'wings' below, and two runways before the cliff, which seemed worth a try. Leonard flexed his ultimate hand and set the 'wings' on the runway. As the 'wings' glided gently, Leonard understood the mechanism and hopped on.

The feeling of soaring through the sky for the first time was incomparable. The setting sun cast a golden hue over everything. Standing in the middle of the flying machine, Leonard drank in the beautiful sights of the Hylia Lake. The splendid view was intoxicating, and Leonard couldn't resist pulling out his Puar tablet to take some pictures. The Temple of Time was in sight, and the distant divine dragon no longer seemed so far away. Flying over the Temple of Time, Leonard noticed many floating islands behind it that seemed climbable... Wait, where should he land? By the time Leonard realized, the 'wings' were already giving off a blue light. After a while, the 'wings' turned into a green light and disappeared, and Leonard, of course, fell and died.

When he opened his eyes, Leonard immediately wanted to fly again, but he stumbled off the cliff and fell to his death. On his third try, he smartened up and bailed out near the Temple of Time by diving into water. He was lucky enough to land in a lake and climbed onto a floating mat just before his strength gave out to avoid drowning.

Finally swimming to the shore, it was pitch dark, and he was cold and hungry. He struck up a conversation with a golem by a bonfire nearby. The butler golem said, "The clock of night has rung, and until sunrise, it's my rest time. You can use this bonfire as you please, even for cooking." Leonard spent the night outside the steps of the Temple of Time, ending his exhausting fourth day of exploration.

Early on the fifth day, Leonard finished his morning workout, had a full meal, and set off for the Temple of Time. Passing through a large square arch, climbing up the half-broken stairs, Leonard arrived at the square in front of the temple. Standing on the circular floor, he could see the floating islands in the distance. The white clouds were misty, the breeze gentle, and it looked like it was going to be a sunny day.

Another step forward, and the massive door covered in runes was only ten meters away. The green circular seal and the red "X" shaped chain seal, the exact ones that had blocked Leonard from entering the Temple of Time, were still in place. But today was different. Leonard briskly walked up, his right hand pressing on the green circular mark. With the divine power of three temples, he was recognized by the temple, and the stone door slowly receded to the sides, revealing the tenon and mortise structure inside. Any master door maker would have to marvel at the exquisite design. In no time, the stone door disappeared entirely, revealing a spacious hall.

Inside the closed door, a massive golden magatama was floating above the altar at the end of the stone stairs. Needless to say, it was another power for Leonard. He placed his hand on the magatama, which hummed and gave off an overpowering shockwave. After the smoke cleared, Princess Zelda appeared.

This Zelda looked different from the previous one, wearing off-shoulder clothes and huge, shiny floral earrings. Around her neck was a bone necklace with a magatama, which looked like a miniaturized version of the one Leonard just touched. With her hands folded in prayer, she floated in mid-air, eyes closed in solemn reverence. She extended her hand to Leonard, who, without hesitation, extended his right hand.

This time, their hands clasped firmly, and Leonard's right hand emitted a yellow light. The light gradually formed a luminous sphere with a Chinese character inside: Time. The sphere instantly entered Leonard's right hand and disappeared. A divine idea invaded Leonard's mind, "Reverse the Universe": it could make a designated object move backward along its path until it returns to its original position, or stop the reversal midway.

"The power to reverse time... and then Princess Zelda disappeared... The power you received must have a special meaning," Rauru's words pulled Leonard back to reality. He was startled to find Zelda gone, leaving only two giant waterwheel wheels, seemingly turning eternally.

Feeling a pang of loss, Leonard was bewildered. He had hoped to meet the princess again! And what was the situation in front of him? There were three rotating discs; the one on the left was rotating counterclockwise, while the one on the right was rotating in the opposite direction. In the middle, there seemed to be a raised platform that he could climb onto. Facing Leonard was another disc that was also constantly rotating, but this one was vertical. After pondering for a while, Leonard formulated a plan. He ran to the higher rotating disc on the right and used his ultimate hand - "Reverse the Universe" to make it rotate counterclockwise. Then he quickly jumped onto it and used it to get onto the square platform. By repeating the same operation, he managed to get to the back of the temple using the vertical disc. He had to cancel "Reverse the Universe" halfway through the vertical disc's movement; otherwise, he would fall down.

Behind the temple was a rugged goddess statue. After praying once, the goddess statue revealed a faint smile, but nothing else happened.

Behind the goddess statue was a huge stone door. Leonard placed his hands on the door, creating two blue glowing handprints. He tried to push it open, and the door absorbed Leonard's heart energy, forming gradient blue glowing runes, but in the end, his effort was in vain. "So close, just a little bit more and it would have worked!" sighed Leonard.

"This door tests one's vitality. With your weakened body, I fear you're unable to open it. Remember, there's another temple on this island. If you receive the blessings there, or the blessings of light deep within this temple... if you can collect them and dedicate them to the goddess, that might just do the trick," said Rauru.

With the awakening of the teleportation power of the Puyall Plate, Leonard returned to the awakening room. Because according to the map, it was closest to the fourth temple.

Leonard walked a few steps, used the Sky Technique whenever he encountered a covered area, and drilled for a quarter of an hour. Surprisingly, he emerged at the top of a mountain. Following the mountain path downhill, after slaying two monsters, he saw the cave where the fourth temple was located, according to the map. The temple was in a cave this time, no wonder he didn't find anything after looking for a long time through his telescope.

Leonard was not in a hurry to enter the temple. There was a golem on the right sleeping in front of a bright flower lantern. Out of curiosity, Leonard walked over and struck up a conversation.

Housekeeper Golem: "This is a battery manufacturing machine. If you wish me to help manufacture additional batteries, please bring Zonau Energy Crystals."

Leonard: "Help me manufacture!"

"Before manufacturing, you need to prepare at least 100 Zonau Energy Crystals. Please come back when you have enough!" Leonard recalled taking a detour just now and ended up in a mining cave, where he managed to gather a few more Zonau Energy Crystals. But he only had a total of 14 now; he was a long way from 100. Feeling dispirited, he decided to note it down and come back to upgrade when he had gathered enough. For now, he chatted with the golem about other things.

Leonard: "Additional battery?"

"The so-called additional battery is a device that increases the capacity of the battery you currently possess. As long as the capacity of the battery is increased, you can use Zonau devices for longer. Moreover, Zonanium, which is essential for refining Zonau Energy Crystals, has been depleted on this island. I'm afraid there's not enough to manufacture additional batteries. If you need a sufficient amount of Zonanium, you should go to its original extraction point - deep underground."

"Deep underground! Alright, I'll remember that." Upon hearing this term, Leonard recalled a rumor in the industry before he was transported here - the long-term development of "Tears of the Kingdom" had consumed much of the team's energy on developing the underground world. It seems he should take the opportunity to explore underground in the future. Who knows, he might find some unexpected surprises!
