Chapter 27
Lilith watched her mother eat the red lobster, expecting something amusing to happen. However, to her surprise, Lily was enjoying the meal, chewing with satisfaction, as if she had just tasted the most delicious thing in the world. Lilith had initially doubted whether her father's cooking would turn out to be good, but after seeing her mother's reaction, she came to a different conclusion.
"This can't be true! Mother must have dressed up like that just to trick me! Hmp, you shameless husband and wife!" Lilith exclaimed mockingly in her heart, having now reached her conclusion.
Meanwhile, Lily was still immersed in the softness and sweetness of the lobster's thick white flesh. She was in a trance while chewing until the food was finished, and only then could she come to her senses.
"Is this your cooking?" Lily asked with surprise.
"Yes, what's up?" Alex replied, a little confused.
"No, it's just that this is too good! It seems that you could open a restaurant, and we wouldn't have to worry about anything in the future!" said Lily excitedly.
Alex, who heard this, could only smile wryly. He knew that the food tasted so delicious because it had the dew of life in it.
How could he make this food so delicious if it didn't have the dew of life in it?
Apart from finding that kind of work tiring, Alex was also very unwilling. He wouldn't use the dew of life for public use anymore. If he farmed, there was still nutrient liquid that could replace the dew of life, even if the results weren't the same. But for cooking, he didn't have any substitute potions like that.
With this, Alex could only splash some cold water on Lily's head to playfully discourage her from wishing him to work as a chef or something.
"I can't be your cook, Lily. I'm only good at making food in small portions. If there's a lot of food, the taste might change and become strange." Alex explained with a smile.
"Ah, really?" said Lily suspiciously.
"That's right, after all, we have a fruit plantation that should be profitable. Next month when the fruits are ripe, you'll see that we can make a lot of money," Alex reassured her.
"Um, okay..." Lily still seemed a bit disappointed.
Feeling a little guilty in his heart, Alex tried to distract his wife.
"Alright, let's not talk about it anymore. Do you still want some lobster? There are a few more in the kitchen. You can take them to your mom's house later and share with them," Alex suggested.
"Yeah..." Lily's mood improved slightly, and she immediately ran to the kitchen.
Alex was then alone with his daughter. He couldn't help but continue trying to persuade his daughter.
"Lilith, what if you just give it a try–"
"No, I don't want to eat things that don't taste good! Hus-hussss~" Lilith immediately interrupted Alex firmly before he could finish his sentence.
Alex felt a little helpless. Then he issued a warning.
"Okay, if you don't want to try it, then don't come looking for Daddy when the lobsters run out and you suddenly want to eat them."
Lilith heard this and sneered, "Hmp, who wants to eat Daddy's cooking anyway!"
Just then, Lily came out with a lunchbox in her hand.
Lilith, curious, asked, "Where are you going, Mom?"
"Mom wants to go to your grandmother's house to deliver food."
"I want to come!"
"Okay, let's go."
With this, the mother and child walked in one direction.
Arriving at Greenfield's father's house, Lilith found only Rose at home.
"Rose, where's Mom?"
"Mom went with Dad, what's up, sister-in-law?"
"I see, that's fine. Your brother just cooked lobsters, and there are lots of them. So he told me to come and give some."
"Lobsters? Are they already that big?"
"Yes, they are. Take this."
With this, Rose quickly grabbed her sister-in-law's hand. She hastily opened the container and was greeted by a very delicious smell.
"Sniff-sniff…" Rose's eyes lit up as she smelled the aroma.
Lilith, who saw this, couldn't help but scream, "Auntie, don't eat it, it's really bad!"
Rose, who heard that, was stunned and a little afraid of what her nephew said. She had intended to stop eating, but the mouthful of lobster meat had already entered her mouth. The sweet taste of the lobster, along with the savory and spicy seasoning, made Rose forget about everything around her for a moment. She just kept on chewing while nodding, satisfied with what she ate.
Lilith, observing this, felt a little familiar with her little aunt's behavior. "Isn't Mom also like this when eating? Then am I wrong? The food is delicious, right?"
With a mixture of trepidation and anticipation, Lilith approached Rose and grabbed the spoon from her hand. Rose, taken aback by Lilith's actions, snapped out of her reverie of pleasure.
Lilith then scooped out a piece of the plump white lobster meat and stuffed it into her mouth with great anticipation. As the flavors filled her mouth, Lilith's eyes lit up in delight.
"Uhhhh, this is delicious!" she exclaimed while munching on the lobster with pleasure.
But her enjoyment was interrupted when her little aunt spoke up, "Hey, Lilith, why did you take the lobster from Grandpa and Grandma? Your father must have made it for you!"
"Uh-" Lilith snapped out of her pleasure-induced trance. She frowned before finally trying to coax her little aunt.
"Little aunt, can you give me just a little bit?" she asked.
Rose hesitated, suspecting that Lilith might be asking for more because she had already eaten too much. But Lilith quickly denied it, saying, "No, no, little aunt!"
Lilith felt complicated as she asked her aunt not because she had eaten a lot, but because she hadn't eaten anything at all. She remembered her father's earlier words and regretted her actions a little.
"Aunt, just a little..." Lilith said pitifully.
Seeing the pitiful look on her niece's face, Rose felt a little pity. With a sigh, she finally agreed to give Lilith what she wanted.
"Okay, you can take a little," Rose said, giving in to her niece's request.
"Uhh, okay, little auntie! You're the best aunt in the world!" Lilith was very pleased with this development. She went to the kitchen to get the dishes, acting as if this place was her own home. When Lilith reached for the lobster in Rose's hand, suddenly a woman's voice was heard.
"Lilith, didn't your father say it was for your aunt, grandparents, and relatives? You can't eat it!"
"But Mom, I want to eat this!" said Lilith slightly agitatedly while biting her finger. Her adorable expression made it seem like the food Alex cooked was a highly addictive drug.
"No, don't bother your aunt. If you want to eat, you can only ask your father!" Lily said firmly.
Lilith, feeling disappointed, reluctantly put down the plate she had taken and returned to the kitchen. She turned around without making a sound.
Seeing her daughter's unhappy expression, Lily smiled mischievously for some reason.
"Okay Rose, that's enough. Don't forget to give the lobsters to Mom and Dad."
"Yes, good sister-in-law."
With this, Lily turned around and went home, chasing after her upset Daughter.
Back at home, Lilith continued to be irritated, showing an ugly expression.
Alex, who saw this, became a little worried and curious. After Lily also came home, Alex finally had the opportunity to ask her about their daughter.
"What's wrong with Lilith? Why is she so gloomy after coming back from Mom and Dad's house?"
"Hahahah, blame it on you!" Lily replied.
"Because of me?" Alex became even more confused.
With this, Lily explained everything that had happened from beginning to end. Alex, after hearing the whole story, nodded in understanding.
After that, Alex went to look for his daughter. He found her with a wrinkled forehead, puffed cheeks, and grumbling incoherently.
Alex could only shake his head helplessly.
Alex went into the kitchen to give a plate of lobster to his daughter. Lilith, who saw this, had a hint of interest in her eyes. However, she quickly turned her head away, avoiding looking at the food her father brought.
Alex was confused by her behavior, so he tried again, placing the plate in front of Lilith once more. But she turned her face away again to avoid it. This happened several times until Alex felt a little helpless.
He then recalled a joke on Earth about women being complicated beings. He wasn't entirely sure before, as there weren't any women close to him, but now, he was starting to believe that there might be some truth to it.
With this in mind, Alex decided to step away from Lilith for the time being.
Lilith felt a little annoyed by her father. It was clear that she wanted her father to persuade her to eat the lobster.
"Okay, Lilith, Dad will leave the lobster here. If you want to eat, you can take it," Alex said one last time.
Lilith snorted, still trying to maintain her stubborn facade. "Hmp, who wants to eat it!"
Alex was once again at a loss with his daughter's behavior. He decided to place the food in the corner and left her alone for a while.
Lilith's face remained tense even after Alex left. But after a few minutes, she couldn't resist the temptation and stealthily glanced at where her father had placed the lobster dish.
Just looking at it from a distance was enough to make her mouth water, and she couldn't help but drool at the thought of the delicious lobster.
Lilith fell silent for a moment, but the irresistible temptation proved too much for her. She quickly glanced around to make sure no one was watching.
After ensuring that the coast was clear, Lilith couldn't resist any longer and rushed towards the lobster dish. She cautiously looked around once more to double-check.
Once certain that no one was observing her, Lilith indulged herself, eating the lobster with great enjoyment and enthusiasm. "Mmm, this is delicious!"
Just as she was savoring her secret feast, suddenly she heard a voice. "Didn't you say you didn't want to eat...?" It was Alex, speaking in a playful tone.
Caught red-handed, Lilith blushed with embarrassment. "Ahhh, Dad!!!" she exclaimed, realizing that her little act had been uncovered.
